JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

Omigosh! I am so behind! Darn life getting in the way of my DISing!!! Sounds great so far - can't wait for more!

great resort pics!!! I'm glad you posted a few since I'm staying there in Dec :) We won't be in the villas section but we did book a standard but I'll hope for an upgrade or maybe ask for one when we check in. When we stayed in 2008, it was an extra $100 total to upgrade to Savanna which was like $25 extra a night and since we were booked with a CM discount anyways we ended up paying the $100 and I'm glad we did...we'll see what happens in a few months!

Lovely pictures! I was torn between AKL and YC for our upcoming trip next week, ultimately ended up with YC but I can see from your pictures the chance to have your morning coffee with wildlife (not the spiders tho!) is really quite lovely. We may have to plan a trip there in the future!:thumbsup2

I was looking for you guys, too! I do wish we could have met-- next time!!
You can tell how excited everyone is-- I love those "just arrived" smiling faces! Wow, your view was just gorgeous! Having that nice table to eat breakfast must have been really nice.

There were spiders this trip too...just not like last! Smaller ones on our balcony so only Jeff and I enjoyed the balcony...Jasmine admired it from afar:lmao:

Smart girl! :thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

Yes, that she is! Where there are spiders....my girl is no one in sight:lmao:

Why thank you! I forgot about Queen's drink spilling incident on the plane. It reminded me of mine on the flight from Portland to Atlanta except my was my coffee. Luckily it had cooled by then. :rotfl2:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that does that....still don't know how I could have done that:lmao:

The more pictures I see of AKV, the more I fall in love with the resort. I love the theme of the room and all the amazing views. And those bath tiles! I've never seen them before, so thank you for sharing. :thumbsup2

Aren't they just gorgeous....I want those tiles in my bathroom!!

WOW!!! From page 4 to 7 overnight!! :dance3:
AKV looks amazing!!!

Now we have our answer to JAMBO!! :goodvibes Good Title!!

Can't wait to hear more!! :surfweb:

Debbie

It really is a gorgeous resort! I love it more and more! Will have another update done hopefully this week, if not, for sure on the weekend!

YIPPEE for AKL:yay:!!!!!!!!!!! We stayed there a couple of years ago and I just  it - especially Boma and Jiko being right at our fingertips!! Our family had a little pixie dust too by being upgraded from a standard view to Savannah.... I spent a lot of time on my balcony with a cup of coffee! However, I made sure my hubby wiped out any evidence of spiders before I went out there :lmao:! Can't wait to read more!!

Boma is one of my very favorite restaurants on property! I have yet to eat at Jiko, but I have it on my "must do" list for next time! You are very lucky to have a hubby who'll take care of the spiders:lmao:

Why thank you!;)

Pretend I'm Peg....you're welcome;)

I LOVE the tiles in the shower!! I want that for my own bathroom :goodvibes

I have never been to AKL, but we are eating there at Jiko this time around and I cant wait to see it in person!

Me too!! Wouldn't that be great to see that in your shower everyday! Oh....I can't wait to hear what you think of Jikopopcorn::

Queen, although we are staying Kidani and not Jambo, your pictures have me more excited than I can even say that we will be there two weeks from today. And I will try to remember when we go to Boma to take a picture in the lobby or somewhere at Jambo so we can say "hello" to you and we wish you were there with us. And hooray for an upgrade to a savannah view.

The kids look so excited. And I can't wait to hear about your special delivery and your first meal.

I can hardly believe your trip is so close...I'm lively vicariously thru you right now!! The kids really had a great time!

Hope your shopping trip went well! It must be nice to be able to go down to the U.S occasionally to shop. Your shopping trips sound like these shopping trips my mom and i take to wisconsin (we live about as close to the wisconsin boarder as you guys do to the U.S boarder). It's nice being able to go someplace different from your normal routine and check things out over there. anyway back to the trip report. Yay that you were able to find everything ok. We have never taken magical express but i do know that it is very easy to get lost in that airport while trying to find the car rental place or the magical express center. Cute how excited jeff was about being on the bus and then about getting to the resort. I love seeing new people's reactions to disney. My brother and his fiancee are going to disney in december for their honeymoon and he is defintely the disney veteran out of the two of them. She has been to disney a couple of times but has missed doing a couple of fundamental things like she only got to spend a couple of hours in the magic kingdom on both trips combined. my brother is making this trip about doing everything she wants to do in disney and hasn't gotten to yet. It is really cute hearing them talk about their trip. anyway back to your TR. I love the pic of all the kids outside the AKL. They all look super happy to be there. Also nice that you had a great check in person. Love the towel mickey as well. Can't wait to find out who the package was from.

We do love our little shopping excursions! It's so nice to just get away sometimes too! A great check in person really does start your vacation off on the right foot don't they! How exciting that your brother and fianceeare going for their honeymoon:lovestruc

I am so so happy you got upgraded to a savanna view!!! Awesome, is it not?? AKV is one of my fav places in the world!! Can't wait to hear about the basket and first meal.

It sure is awesome Mary! It's my favorite resort ... hands down!!

The most popular girl on DISboards strikes again!!! Im here, Im late - but ready for action. I was *shocked* to see that you had taken two pictures especially for me :)

XXOO

Lol you are so funny! Of course, how could we forget you??? OXO

I finally made it over :cool1:. I am loving your pictures. I have never been lucky enough to get an upgrade at a resort, not even during birthdays or anniversary trips........oh well, maybe someday :lmao:. Anyway, back to your trip, so far it looks magical and I can't wait to read and see more!!

Dana...I've missed you girl! Your day will come hon, good things come to those who wait:hug: It was magical and can't wait to tell you more!

Omigosh! I am so behind! Darn life getting in the way of my DISing!!! Sounds great so far - can't wait for more!

Hate when that happens! It's happening to me too this week since I went back to work...so hard to get back into work mode when you still want to be on vacation!

great resort pics!!! I'm glad you posted a few since I'm staying there in Dec :) We won't be in the villas section but we did book a standard but I'll hope for an upgrade or maybe ask for one when we check in. Thanks! CM discounts are the best arent' they! It doesn't really matter where you are inside, the best part is just being there!! You're going to have a great time!

I can see how you could be torn between those 2! I do love YC though, have never been fortunate enough to stay there, but I think it's absolutely beautiful!

I was looking for you guys, too! I do wish we could have met-- next time!!
You can tell how excited everyone is-- I love those "just arrived" smiling faces! Wow, your view was just gorgeous! Having that nice table to eat breakfast must have been really nice.

Me too, but you're right, next time! I really loved that view, more than the pool view we had last time and I didn't think that was possible. Having breakfast in the room was wonderful!!

I'm so glad you all got upgraded! That view looks amazing! I think it would be worth a few spiders to get to see giraffes from the balcony.

I also love the tile in the shower. That would be the coolest thing to have at home!

OKay that does it, the view of that Giraffe from the balcony. My kids would never want to leave the room! Amazing!

YAY for the NHL making a comeback in Canada, it was sad when teams started leaving.

Loving all the pics! Congrats on the upgrade, how nice!

Hi everyone!! Time for another update!! Jasmine and I ended up going to the states with my bff and her daughter or I would have had one up by now! I've got my tea ready and I'm good to go....so where was I.....

So not only do we have to wait for a trippie update, but we have to hear the reason for it is because you're an international shopper? Yeah, that makes the rest of us feel really good about our lives! :rotfl2:

Oh yes, we had just taken off from O'Hare on our way to Orlando! On this leg of the journey I had the window seat, MM was in the middle and Peg had the aisle. Geodoc and SW were in front of us and Jas and Jeff were in front of them!

They put you in the very back? I'd put you in front of me! The entertainment value of you on a plane would be just TOO good to pass up. Have you ever listened to George Carlin's bit about stupid things they say at the airport? You need to. :rotfl2:

I remember thinking, as I sat by myself, how ridiculous I must look with a grin from ear to ear! I didn't care though lol

If people think you look ridiculous grinning from ear to ear on the way to WDW then they don't have a clue what's up. You could enlighten them? Nah..... too much trouble. Just sit back and grin!

He talked to us about wine tasting that we could go to at the resort (must have been a vibe he got from us)

What do you have, some kind of alcoholic aura???? I didn't notice it. Probably because I sport the same one, huh?

and then he told us that we had been upgraded! Yup, no value view for us.....we were upgrade to Savannah View!

Isn't there some kind of cosmic law against having this kind of luck??? Love the idea that Jeff took credit for the upgrade. I know I only met him for a moment, but I KNEW I liked that kid!

She called me a spoiled brat...but I know she meant it with love!

You are a spoiled brat!!! But then again, being the Queen of All Things, what else would you be? And you know we love it! :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm finally caught up. Don't know what the next several days is going to be like and my internet connection next week is going to be seriously spotty. But you know I won't be able to go too long without my QoAT fix!! See ya soon!!!!:love::worship:

would be just TOO good to pass up. Have you ever listened to George Carlin's bit about stupid things they say at the airport? You need to. :rotfl2:

Just listened to it. :lmao: But there are some lines in there, post 9/11, that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't deliver today!

:lovestruc AKL!!! So lovely to be able to look out your window and see a giraffe. That's so lucky you got upgraded! Must've been because you were a Canadian :rotfl:

:confused3 Wow - did I really miss responding to this update??? :confused3 Looks like I did. Sorry!

Glad you arrived safe and sound and are finally in your new home!!!!!! So awesome and so looking forward to reading about your first meal!

Back to see the pictures! Holy upgrade! Beautiful view! Everyone looks so happy, especially MM! Cool to see Peg in pictures. How did Geodoc get his DISname?

I'm so glad you all got upgraded! That view looks amazing! I think it would be worth a few spiders to get to see giraffes from the balcony.

I also love the tile in the shower. That would be the coolest thing to have at home!

It was completely amazing! I agree, I don't love spiders, but for that view, I was out there:cool1:

OKay that does it, the view of that Giraffe from the balcony. My kids would never want to leave the room! Amazing!

YAY for the NHL making a comeback in Canada, it was sad when teams started leaving.

Loving all the pics! Congrats on the upgrade, how nice!

I loved the fact that even when it was raining you could enjoy the view and not get wet! That was a great perk!

We are super excited to have our NHL team back!! The energy in the city is amazing!!

So not only do we have to wait for a trippie update, but we have to hear the reason for it is because you're an international shopper? Yeah, that makes the rest of us feel really good about our lives! :rotfl2:

Yeah, sorry about that, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! How could I say no!

They put you in the very back? I'd put you in front of me! The entertainment value of you on a plane would be just TOO good to pass up. Have you ever listened to George Carlin's bit about stupid things they say at the airport? You need to. :rotfl2:

I think I am more entertaining than the TV's on most flights! ...and yes I have listened...too funny!

If people think you look ridiculous grinning from ear to ear on the way to WDW then they don't have a clue what's up. You could enlighten them? Nah..... too much trouble. Just sit back and grin!

That is so true!

What do you have, some kind of alcoholic aura???? I didn't notice it. Probably because I sport the same one, huh?

That must be it!!! I never thought about it before!

Isn't there some kind of cosmic law against having this kind of luck??? Love the idea that Jeff took credit for the upgrade. I know I only met him for a moment, but I KNEW I liked that kid!

Yeah...we like him too:rolleyes1:lmao:

You are a spoiled brat!!! But then again, being the Queen of All Things, what else would you be? And you know we love it! :thumbsup2

That's true I am...I guess it's better than being called a leech :lmao: I hope you have a great week and we'll see you back here when you get the chance:hug:
Just listened to it. :lmao: But there are some lines in there, post 9/11, that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't deliver today!

So very true!!
:lovestruc AKL!!! So lovely to be able to look out your window and see a giraffe. That's so lucky you got upgraded! Must've been because you were a Canadian :rotfl:
That's what I said to Peg...do you think it's cause he's Canadian?? That view is something I can still close my eyes and see:lovestruc
:confused3 Wow - did I really miss responding to this update??? :confused3 Looks like I did. Sorry!

Glad you arrived safe and sound and are finally in your new home!!!!!! So awesome and so looking forward to reading about your first meal!

I do that all the time too Mary Ellen...no worries!

Especially sad when the original Winnipeg Jets left. I'm so looking forward to this season!! Go Jets Go !:cool1:

Jas and I are heading to buy our shirts today...hoodie or t- shirt ...hmmmm....maybe both:lmao:

Back to see the pictures! Holy upgrade! Beautiful view! Everyone looks so happy, especially MM! Cool to see Peg in pictures. How did Geodoc get his DISname?

We tried to take pictures of each other so we actually got in some photos..between the two of us, we're always behind the camera I will let Geodoc explain his name...I think I know but I might be wrong:rolleyes1

Just joining in! Can't wait to hear more!:thumbsup2

Welcome...so glad to have you along!!!

First of all, I want to apologize for taking so long to get another update completed! I went back to work on Monday and it was nuts! I forgot how much catching up there is to do after 3 weeks off! But it's Saturday morning now, I'm caught up on all my threads and its time to fill you in on the rest of our arrival day!! The garden grocer order had arrived and Geodoc got that all put away while Peg and I got to unpacking all the suitcases and putting everything into the drawers! Jasmine and Jeff took care of their own suitcases so we were done in no time! Then the knock on the door came...it was my basket from a very special Dis-friend:hug:
067-3-1.jpg

This is what arrived at the door! Isn't it beautiful? I know you're all wondering who it was from so I won't keep you in suspense any longer.....Tanzunited99...yup, she's a sweetie!!! It included 3 pens, an autograph book, a beautiful Animal Kingdom photo frame and a gorgeous necklace with my initial and a mickey head...simply beautiful!!! I couldn't believe someone would go to all that trouble to do something so kind and sweet! Everytime I wear the necklace and look at the frame I think of her...so she's never far from my thoughts:goodvibes
055-2.jpg

The time was inching closer and closer to our ADR time so we headed down to the bus. Here are three of the four kids....where is Jasmine you ask....
056-2.jpg

Getting the beginnings of her tan:lmao: This girl goes love to lay by the pool and tan much more than being in the water!!
058-3.jpg

First bus ride of the trip! We decided since we were cutting it close with the time that we would not get off at the Marketplace like we originally planned. We thought we would have lots of time to shop before our ADR but we had decided it would be better to get everything done before we left than have to do it when we got back.
059-1.jpg

Our destination....Raglan Road! We love this restaurant and when we travel with Peg and family, it's more often than not our first restaurant we eat at! As you can see it was a beautiful night too!!
060-1.jpg

We checked in and they took us in almost right away! We had a great table and were enjoying the atmosphere...as you can see, we all look very happy! Now Peg will have to post her pictures because I took one of them with her camera, I didn't have one on mine!
061-1.jpg

We had an amazing server which was awesome...nothing like starting your trip off with a bang! Jasmine and Jeff were "starving to death" so they decided to split an appetizer! They got the spring rolls and said they were delicious which I thought they must be because in my opinion, Jeff's mom makes the best spring rolls I have ever had...I could eat them by the dozen:rolleyes1
062-2.jpg

I couldn't wait for the bread:lovestruc I love dipping it in the concoction of guinness and honey I believe is what it is....pure heaven!!! For dinner, I decided to have the bangers and booz....boy was this yummy! I was a little on the hungry side so ate it all!!!
063-2.jpg

Jeff had the hamburger and he was more than impressed...he said it was the best burger he's had in a long time and this boy eats burgers:lmao: Once again, the signture thumbs up!
064-2.jpg

Jasmine had the fish and chips....if fish is on the menu that's what she'll choose!!!
065-1.jpg

The server didn't rush us and we were all talking about all the fun times that were ahead of us on this trip! No one wanted dessert but I love this dessert here and had to have it. As soon as I ordered, Jasmine decided she was going to have dessert too.....
066-1.jpg

She decided on the Dunbroody Kiss...she licked the plate clean!!!

We had every intention of shopping when we were finished eating, but our early morning flight changed our plans...we were all exhausted and decided the best thing to do was catch the bus and head back "home". We had had a wonderful start to our trip and what would our next day hold....MAGIC KINGDOM...of course.

:lovestruc Raglan Road :lovestruc I absolutely love that raspberry dessert too! So light but SO good. Did you see any of the dancers while you were there? What a great way to start the trip!

The food looks so delicious!!! :cloud9:
We didn't eat at Raglan Rd but I did walk through to use the washroom!!:rotfl2:

That was so sweet of Tanz to send you the basket!! :thumbsup2

Hope you're enjoying your Saturday! DH and I are off to The Riverstone Spa for massages this afternoon and then dinner at "Stepn Out" in honor of our 27th anniversary which was just on thursday!!

Have a great day! :goodvibes
Debbie
