Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

We will be there 8/23-8/29 standard room. We booked BOMA for breakfast, can I expect American food? My kids and I aren't too adventurous when it comes to our food

Hi Ho folks! Well it seems we have a slight hiccup in our plans for our upcoming trip. My DBF is changing jobs and we are having to cut our trip in half. We had planned to rent a car since we were heading to Clearwater for a few days after Disney but now we are just Disney. I went to adjust the rental car for 5 less days and the price jumped $175!! You read that right, less days and more money. :headache: Now I am looking at forgoing the car and just using DME and resort transportation....which I haven't done in at least 10 years. :scared: I'm impatient. There. I said it. We have several signature dining reservations and I do not fancy having to bus to a park and then to a resort. It was suggested that we could just taxi it to the resorts. My questions is what is the average price for a round trip from AKL to say, BW or Grand Flo? I'm not giving up the dead horse that is our rental car but I'm also trying to see if this option would be friendlier on our budget. Cheers! :love1:
We are staying at AKL in dec. and we do many ressies at resorts. it is so annoying to go on a bus to a resort and then again to the

Boma has both options, there is plenty of american and african type its an AWESOME breakfast buffet, we dont like the the food for the dinner buffet so we never did that one

I know!! It's most annoying because I know several backstage ways to get around that take half the time but I'm stuck on the bus going the long way round. LMAO!

....well, you could always rent a vehicle for your time there....personally, I enjoy the sanctuary of a nicely air-conditioned bus, where I don't have to think about the traffic laws and such....but that's just ME.

We will see you in may! May 4-12th AKV- jambo house value studio.. fingers crossed for savannah view!

Fingers crossed for you! We had a value studio and lucked out with an awesome savannah view. Wish I can remember what room number it was though.

....make sure you get a balconied room at the Dolphin.....

I definitely prefer deluxe layout as to mod/value since the windows does not provide privacy if the curtains are open and I like bright rooms. However, we hardly spend time on the balcony. :sad2: We just like deluxe resorts for their amenities and space of the room. Maybe it's because we are just family of two and there's plenty of space in the room??? I don't know..., we've never really used balcony much other than have the curtain open during the day for natural light.

....oh no, not because of that....there has been a long-standing debate about the 'mold level' in the Dolphin rooms....I personally DID notice a difference, which is why we requested a room with a balcony [to open the door to let in fresh air].

Yikes!!! We've been staying at Swan last several trips without any issues. I figure now that Dolphin has gone through with their refurbishment, it would be all good. Good to know. We are staying at Dolphin with my SPG points which could be cancelled up to a couple of days before the stay. I might contemplate in staying at Swan for little more points. Thank you for letting me know.
