Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

I think you're cutting it kinda close...

You definitely don't want to rush yourself...Especially @ JIKO-----> RIGHT @kimmar067 :teacher:?

True...need to savor dinner and a bottle of wine (or 2)!!

But, 6:30 is such an early dinner I think. Can you take a bottle of wine to the movie or since it's a family event that probably isn't a good idea??

@loveshak22 Although I've eaten everywhere @ AKL/V but here, I've heard nothing but Great reviews....

BTW all the other places are excellent. (If you haven't tried yet)

I've eaten at Jika, Boma and Sanaa years ago and loved them all! Although this trip I can't fit in all three so am missing Sanaa...which makes me sad!! But, a good reason to plan another longer trip soon!

LoL Too funny...to us 6:30 is lateish...hehe. They have a great variation of wines at this resort for sure.....I doubt that anyone would have an issue.....You're allowed to drink by the pool during the day, and over near the pool bar, so it shouldn't be a problem. The movies are over near the backside of the pool Jambo. by the walkway near the Flamingoes..:thumbsup2

Thanks for the details on where the movie is! I really don't know if they had them when we went last time or if we just were at the parks more and I didn't notice.

And am glad a bottle of wine under the stars watching a Disney movie wouldn't be frowned upon!!

We just booked our trip for Oct. 14-21 at AKL KV Savannah view! I last stayed there back in 2006 and can't wait to return with my kids. Thank you Kim for keeping the Jambo group going. I was an avid follower back in 2005-2007 and am happy to be back and still see some familiar faces.

Hi everyone! I'm going for my second stay at AKL May 8-11th! I've read almost every page on this thread and tried searching for this information before I asked, but I have a couple questions I was hoping to get some help with!
1. Do they do movies at night somewhere at AKL? If so, what time are they usually and is there a schedule posted somewhere?
2. What time is the fire pit open for S'Mores or storytelling? When I was there years ago there used to be a storytelling time around the fire pit.
3. Any other evening resort activities usually scheduled? Outside of the tours/restaurants?

I've tried numerous times to look at the resort schedule on the Disney website but it just thinks and thinks and never pulls anything up.

Thanks!

Does anyone have the current activity guide? I am trying to plan our pool day and would like to see what would be going on around the pool on that day

I am currently planning an extremely late honeymoon for next year (11 years late to be exact) and was set on Port Orleans Riverside. After reading through all of this thread, I am going to look into DVC rentals for the value studio instead. I have seen AKL in the past and loved it.....so who wants to talk me out of it?? :-)

Not sure if this has already been asked. We're going to be staying at AKL in 2018. The plan is to rent DVC points. The rooms with a direct view of the wildlife are of course considerably more expensive. Is there an opportunity to view the wildlife at AKL without having to spend the extra $$ on a room that is facing the wildlife?

Absolutely....
Actually a few of the standard rooms have a small savannah view (some have gotten lucky with those) but also there are outside verandahs, with rockers that you can gaze at them, as well as in between pods while walking down the long hallways.

Outside at Arusha rock and other spots, you can animal watch too. And over beyond the Jambo pool, they have night vision goggles to see them as well.

HTH... DizDad

Uh No one....:teeth:----> Like "NIKE"says "Just do it.":teacher:

What kind of coffee maker are in the rooms (non-DVC)? Just in case I want to bring my own coffee.

I have been wondering this as well. The Joffrey's coffee that Disney supplies is ok, but we always seem to need more than mousekeeping wants to spare, even when we remember to ask for extra.

Has anyone had luck finding filters to fit the little pots, so you can use your own ground coffee, or do you need to purchase the special filter packs similar to what Disney provides? If so, where can they be found?

Thanks so much! We we be checking in April 21 and I can't wait!

Our rooms earlier this month (non-DVC, one CL and one standard) had Cuisinart dual pod coffee makers.

I don't think you can use filters that you fill yourself, but I've never tried. If you search Google, Amazon, and other places for "coffee pods," you'll find the same type of pods that Disney provides (but from other brands) in the results among the K-cups and Starbucks Verismo pods.

Staying at AKL for the first time ever next month over Easter weekend! My husband knows we'll be in town for the weekend but has no clue where I booked :rolleyes1

So far we've stayed at POFQ, CBR, and CSR in the past. This feels so next level for us haha!

Even though our trip will be brief and the view will be a standard room, I am just so excited. Shoutout to the pass holder discount being offered for this to even be possible.
