When we stayed in the Congress Park section of SSR, the CMs told us to be careful on that path, especially in the early morning, because of......Alligators!!

Never did see one while we were there, but we did see a huge turtle trying to cross the parking lot! I flagged down some maintainance CMs who played cowboy (turtleboy??) and herded it back toward the water!! That was a sight to see!

So nice to be able to stroll over to DD in the evenings...

Jaime -- you have an AMAZING memory! I am really enjoying your TR.

Haven't seen any alligators (yikes!), but we did see an armadillo at ASMovies in 2004. For us northerners, it was quite the spectacle! Not sure if they are dangerous or not. We were 2 floors up when it appeared in the bushes down below.

Can't wait to read more!

I'm fairly certain an armidillo is safe - especially from the 2nd floor! Up close, might be different, but maybe not... don't they just roll up in a ball?

CHAPTER 39: I’ve found the Rum, Luv! – Still DAY 6: Thursday, May 3, 2007


Couple more shots of the view fron the Saratoga/DTD path.

Lunch today is at Cap’n Jack’s. Where, you will recall, none of us have eaten yet.

That's my "What were you thinking?" face. As in "What were you thinking not putting Jack in that last picture???"


It's my restaurant! Mine!

Rhonda decided in March to get the crab cake melt.

Sandy got the tuna salad.

I got the French dip.

Sandy’s tuna came with soup – clam chowder, to be precise – Manhattan or New England, her choice, to be even more precise.

Sandy doesn’t eat either – you should have seen how fast Rhonda and I jumped on that soup! And it was good!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we’re sitting waiting for lunch to be served (we didn’t even have it yet!), Rhonda is having me hold the blinds open so she can take a picture of Ghirardelli’s – "That’s where I’m having dessert!"

Ruth asks if we have to go straight over to have ice cream, or if we can wait a while. I tell her, "Rhonda has no trouble getting a sundae after we eat and then getting another one when you’re ready!" Instead, Ruth just got a small salad with ranch dressing for lunch.

We have a little fun with Jack during our meal – and ask permission to take his picture on the ship the restaurant has displayed over its cash-register-ordering-machine-kiosk. Now who’s King of the World, Sandy?

And – look – Jack found the rum!!!

Well, the wine. Whatever… he’s happy… so happy in fact, that he falls flat on his face while we’re waiting for our ice cream at Ghirardelli’s!

I’ve found the lum, ruv! I mean, the rum, luv…

Rhonda got me hooked on a certain sundae at Ghirardelli’s – it was called the Strike It Rich – it’s a scoop of vanilla with hot fudge and a scoop of butter pecan with butterscotch. They changed the name, but it’s still on the menu!

I WANT HER JOB!!!

And there was no line!!! That never happens!

As I go to take a picture of my sundae, Rhonda shoves hers into the frame and yells, "Twin sundaes!"

I don’t think Jack is the only one who was drinking the lum, ruv!

It’s time to head into the World of Disney.

LOVINGIT !!! ( yes,all oneword !!!) But, there goes my diet !!! Now, I have to have some ice cream !!! hmmmmm, maybe I'll just replace dinner with ice cream. Why not, I let Lexie eat a cupcake for breakfast yesterday hey, it had to have some nutritional value and the lime green buttercream frosting surely counted as a serving of green(not a veggie), right? okay, so maybe not, oh well. I earned Mommy points and that's all the counts

OMGsh....I fianlly made it through all thirty pages!! You are a wonderful trip report author!! I have been debating starting my pre-trip report, but I am nowhere near as talented as you! I(35) am going to be at Disney from August 26th-August 31st. I don't know if it's too early to start writing it yet.

I'm going with my mother(51) and my sister(32). So, your report has been very interesting to me. It's nice to read one without having to worry about the kids' schedules.. I have kids - two to be exact - but they won't be tagging along on this upcoming trip!

Thank you for making it very entertaining. I look forward to the rest.

I completely agree, and we go to DTD ALOT. I normally run in for a coffee drink and pass on the ice cream for that reason!

I'm loving Jack's adventures. I really need to go find our Jack so he can have some fun!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it! The adult only trips really are so different! And they're wonderful! Not that I don't like taking the kids (my own or my niece's children), but adults only has a different feel to it. You're gonna love it!

This next trip will involve Meg. Meg wants to be a photographer when she grows up and stops bugging me. Jack will be very busy in September (my guess would be he'll be trying to avoid Meg and her camera and storyboards!) She gets a little carried away sometimes... wonder where she gets that!

CHAPTER 40: Jack Makes Friends – Plural! – Still DAY 6: Thursday, May 3, 2007


We decide to all wander around and meet up again in a while. I picked up a couple pairs of earrings I wanted… took a bunch of pictures of Jack, and then went looking for Rhonda. I found her by the doggie gift section. She was picking out something for our brother’s dog. That was new. We found some really cute bandanas with Disney characters – it was a set of 6 with different holidays on them.

JACK WAS CONFUSED...

JACK LOVES THE LADIES...

OF COURSE, 2 OF THESE CINDERELLAS SLAPPED HIM.
BUT LOOK AT ALL OF HIS NEW FRIENDS THERE!

I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE CUTEST SHIRT:

I handed Rhonda my items (earrings!) and my money (Disney Visa discount, you know) and went outside to sit on a bench for a while.

About 15 minutes later, we all met up again.

Let’s head on over to the big pin store! Except, by the time I get there, my feet hurt so badly again, all I can do is sit down on a wall outside the store.

This bites. I’m so bummed.

Rhonda goes into the pin shop, Sandy sits with me, and Ruth goes into the Christmas store. Rhonda finishes up and comes over and gives me a present – I had bought a Mickey Head pin in the World of Disney, but the design was a red Chinese dragon. Rhonda bought me a lanyard charm of the same dragon. It’s my ceiling fan pull in my bedroom right now.

The 3 of us wander over to the $10 and Under store – I love this place! Every trip I treat myself to a surprise bag - $7.99 and you don’t know what’s in it. Rhonda got herself one too!

I always take it outside to the brick wall and open it there. And every year I attract a cast member whilst opening my bag. Last year, a woman who worked in the store came out. This year, it was the Ball Guy.

We all ooh’d and aah’d over my goodies, and Rhonda’s goodies, then the Ball Guy caught a glimpse of Jack. And I lost control of the vacation.

Before we left Ball Guy, we had been talking about all kinds of things, and – me being me – I mention that we’re going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review tonight.

Is it weird that I tell EVERYONE EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME???
Ball Guy tells us his brother is in the show. Yeah, right. One of the main players? Yes. Really? Yes. Right.

For the record, we assumed Ruth was still in the Christmas Store during all of this – we never actually tried to find her. Actually, I think Rhonda might have gone looking at one point, but then Ruth just showed up.

What to do now??? We could go ride bikes somewhere… we could go back to Ghirardelli’s and have more ice cream… or – how about – what if we went back to the hotel and went to the pool in the DAYLIGHT and go down the slide???

And a plan was born!
