Believe it or not, this is the first TR I've read that contained pics of Winter Summerland! The theming looks adorable! My kids love mini-golf; we may need to do this on a rest day, too!

Ruth wore jeans and a polo every day - the last trip, too! I was roasting and she was in jeans!!!

And I wear those dangle earrings almost every day - I thought they'd be a little too big for every day, but I just love them!

Poor Jaime, I don't know how you did so much walking with the bad foot. Glad it didn't stop you from playing WS and meeting jerky snowmen, though.

If I let the foot win, I'd never do Disney. So I ignore it a lot! But then I ice and take meds and put it on 3 pillows every night and sit down every chance I get...

It's starting to really heal though. I didn't bring those cute Crocs Cleo sandels that I posted in the pre-trip because the strap by the toes was too tight on the left foot. Well, now I can wear them all day at work. And I wore them to the mall Sunday! So the swelling is finally starting to go away and it doesn't hurt anywhere near as bad as it had been...

Of course, I head back to Disney in less than 90 days - that should make it throb again!

Thanks! And Mia won't let us have a Mickey "house". We get a Mickey "kitchen". Yeah, right!

Glad you enjoyed it - I prefer this course to Fantasia Gardens because it has shade! I also recommend mini-golfing when the place opens up - 10am, so as not to wait in line!

CHAPTER 37: Fight! – Still DAY 6: Thursday, May 3, 2007

We leave the golf course and decide we’re going to Old Key West to check out the resort and ride either the hydro-bikes or the surrey bikes. Ruth and Sandy do not do water, so they wanted to see the hydro bikes before they said yes or no. OK – hey, not everyone floats…

So we find the stop for Old Key West – it also is the home for Saratoga Springs’ bus. That one comes first. The driver asks what bus we’re waiting for – we manage to confuse him by telling him Old Key West, and then we’re going to Downtown Disney. Well, Saratoga Springs is right by Downtown Disney, so he’s telling us to take his bus… but we really want Old Key West first. We need to limit our chatter sometimes! He pulls away.

NOW it gets interesting! (like you weren’t mesmerized already) There are 2 charter busses dropping people off at Blizzard Beach. They are blocking the Disney bus lanes… for–ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disney busses are honking and honking and finally, the driver of the first Disney bus gets out and heads up towards the 2 charter busses.

Sparks are gonna fly!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the camera out!

He starts screaming at the bus driver of one of the charter busses (the other charter driver was hiding in his bus!). Meanwhile, people are streaming off the 2 busses… thousands of people!!! I swear - it seemed like they were climbing in the other side of the bus because they just kept coming and coming and coming… it was better than the circus! But then again, I think a root canal’s better than the circus – I have a problem with clowns… most of you understand, I’m sure…

And the Disney driver is still having a flippy fit at the charter driver! A woman, who we assumed was in charge of the group that rented the charter busses finally came over and told the charter driver to move the busses. The Disney driver came back to his bus – we applauded him on the way by – and as he climbed back into his bus, his bus full of people applauded him, too!

Meanwhile, still no Old Key West bus… how long did we sit there? Long enough for the Saratoga Springs driver to come back around! It was 20 – 25 minutes that we sat there and no Old Key West bus came.

So, we gave up on that idea and decided to go to Saratoga Springs and walk over to Downtown Disney! We have run out of time for a bike ride anyway!

I went to Brookfield Zoo for lunch today.


For those of you who aren't aware of it - Brookfield Zoo is smack-dab in the middle of cicada country.


HOLY MOSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MILLIONS OF THEM, I SWEAR!!!


We saw the insides of 2 gift shops and a bathroom. NO animals. Unless you count the cicadas. Of course.


Anywho - passing an African themed restaurant, I read their sign...


The first word on the sign?

It is totally the BEST theming. Where else will you see flamingos pulling Santa's sleigh. If you can play both courses...... one is winter and one is summer!

We would have also done Summerland, but it was being painted when we were there. And we wanted to go ride bikes at OKW.

I would take a pic and email it to that CM. I also got to thinking about this..... even here in the U.S. where ENGLISH is the primary language we use several different languages, accents, or slangs from that part of the country, kwim? So is she supposed to use a different accent or slang with every guest depending on what part of the country they are from? as to not offend them? I think not. okay, sorry, rant over, the attorney in me came out a bit there.

The Saratoga Springs driver is very sympathetic with the fact that we sat there for-ever…

Now… here’s what I know: I know Saratoga is right by Downtown Disney. I know there’s a walking path between them. I know that there’s several drop off locations at Saratoga. And I know that I have no idea where we’re supposed to get off the bus.

I know all this because I am a trip report junkie – and our good friend, nebo, got lost at this resort in the really dark.

We approach Saratoga Springs and the bus driver stops at the first stop. I make eye contact in the rear view mirror. He slowly shakes his head no. I announce "Not this stop." to my group, like I know exactly where I am going. I have to come clean when he outs me with, "I’ll tell you when."

The name of the stop closest to Downtown Disney is "Congress Park". And the reason nebo couldn’t find the pathway to DTD, in the dark, is that the path is closed at night. So it must have just disappeared! That’s why he couldn’t find it.

We could see why it was closed at night – creepy!!!
