Jaime on Vacation! (9/2/06 - 9/10/06) COMPLETED: Page 14, Post #210

We were there at the same time and I wound up taking a photo of that same rainbow while at the MK:

Yours came out MUCH better than mine, though.

Great trip report!

Here's a funny little note I arived in Epcot at about 4 to see Iluminations one last time.

Thomas, I swear normally I would see it every night I could, but the girls were just not cooperating on this one. I know I'm going back (in May and in September next year), so I just let it go.

But I thought it was funny, especially since you wrote in your trip report "Who leaves before Illuminations?"

Great trip report!

That's cool that it could be seen at the MK, too! I couldn't get over how BRIGHT it was by us - we just couldn't stop staring at it!

I'm enjoying your trip report! Can't wait to read the rest!

I also like the way you are keeping it to one thread.

Love your pictures. They really add to your report.

We saw the rainbow too!! It was amazing. Coincidentally we also ate at Le Cellier that night! Your trip report is great. I hope to take my daughter on a girls trip next September!

I totally understand about chickenin' out of TOT, i would have but my 10 yo was like mom that little boy is what 6 and he is going. ughh..... so i go on and we are in seat 1, yikes, yeah yikes when the doors open and you see a lot of MGM. I was feeling a little sick. Needless to say when i went to bed that night it had taken me a few hours to fall asleep. Everytime i closed my eyes i felt my body doing the motions of the ride. :guilty: I was not going on that ride again, but......... my 6 yo wanted to go on so then i did also. Not bad the second time around. However, it had taken Kaeleb (6) 2 times to get on. The preshow freaked him out he thought that we were going to disappear on the elevator. So getting him to go down the elevator to wait for his brother took some convincing. But 2 days later he decided that he could try and ride it. I had to convince him that after the ride was over he would come out in the exact same place his brother did. He rode it and the entire time he had his eyes shut and nose and ears plugged :rotfl2: . I am not sure about the ears & nose plugging thing but he did it on all of the loud and scary to him rides.

How, exactly does one plug their ears and nose while dropping at a fast rate???

PLANS: Magic Kingdom, find paintbrush on Tom Sawyer’s Island, barbershop, Wishes!

BREAKFAST: Kona Cafe @ 7:30a ($$$)
LUNCH: Casey’s (CS5,6,7)
DINNER: Cosmic Ray’s (CS8&9)

REALITY: I knew upon waking that there was no way I was going to get those girls up and over to the Polynesian for breakfast by 7:30. There would be a mutiny if I even tried! So at 6:48am (See? I would have made the 7:30 ADR!) I was in the food court snack-crediting a bagel for Ashley, a muffin for me, and an apple juice for Meg – even though she grunted that she wanted NOTHING, :furious: I knew she’d have to have SOMETHING in her stomach! I think this was the day I left the room to still see STARS in the sky!!! I strolled along the waterfront, taking the long way to the food court.

I stuck her apple juice in my new The Mouse for Less Water Bottle holder and we left for the Magic Kingdom.

Instead of breakfast at the Kona Café, we made our very first…

Should I make you wait for it???

Nah!

WE MADE OUR VERY FIRST MAGIC KINGDOM PARK OPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TA-DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (oh, shush! I know you do it all the time, but I live with the A.M. Living Dead!) Check out the time on the clock!!!

And HOW THRILLED are these little faces???

How, exactly does one plug their ears and nose while dropping at a fast rate?
Let me find the picture it was quite interesting. He is not holding on to the handle, his thumbs were plugging his ears and his pinkies were on his nose. I will take a pic tomorrow of him doing it if i cannot find the TOT pic. it has been misplaced along with 3 06 t-shirts i bought for the picture at Chef Mickeys. hmmm i am thinking that i left at the time share, oh well i guess housekeeping is benefiting from the new shirts, at least we were able to use them once before they disappeared.

We went over to the barbershop after entering the Magic Kingdom, but there was already a line of 5 – 7 people. We decide not to wait.

The plan had been to get to Tom Sawyer’s Island to look for a paintbrush. Kinda silly when there’s no lines! It would have been fun, but we got sidetracked!

347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C582%3A76nu0mrj

We stopped all along Main Street, going from PhotoPass photographer to PhotoPass photographer, and I remembered to ask for the Tinkerbell pictures!
347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C57%3B893nu0mrj

After getting to the hub, I decide we should head towards Adventureland – no real reason, maybe just the distant call of Jack Sparrow in my brain! We get to the Adventureland bridge, and the jungle drums come into hearing. I start to embarrass Meg to death, errrr…. I mean, dance.

As we get over the bridge, Rafiki is just standing there off to the right. Everyone is just walking past him! We stop for a photo.
347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644363nu0mrj

We also stop in the Island Supply store to look for anklet bracelets for my 2 nieces, Lauren & Brooke. Lauren has been on 2 Disney trips so far, and Brooke is slated for next September.

SIDE NOTE: THAT should be an interesting trip! Brooke and Lauren couldn’t be more different if they tried! Lauren (5 now) remembers every ride and restaurant from her first Disney trip when she was 3, and Brooke (3 now) sometimes can’t remember which of us is Rhonda and which is Jaime. Lauren wants to do all the roller coasters and Brooke freaked out on a carnival kiddie ride. Their mom taught them a little song – to learn to spell their names:

Laurens’ song was:
L-A-U… R-E-N…
Lauren, Lauren,
That’s my name!

Brooke sings hers:
B-R-O… Oh, cookie,
Brook-ee, Brook-ee,
That’s your name.

She’s going to be a BLAST in Disney! SIDE NOTE OVER.

So we stop in the Island Store for the anklets. The girls had been very specific – Lauren wanted a rainbow and Brooke wanted PINK! I could see the rainbow anklet, but no pink. I decide to wait until our next MK day, maybe they’ll have pink then. (And, no, I’m not going to buy them something else, the kids asked for the $2 ankle bracelets!)

Next I take the girls straight to Pirates of the Caribbean – I find it sort of fitting that our first ride in the MK that day be the one I’m looking forward to most and is generating the most excitement! It was so cool! They did a great job!

And in the first pirate scene, when the pirate who is supposed to be Barbosa, I guess – doesn’t look anything like him to me – is giving orders, and says, “Fire at will!” BOTH Meg and I yelled back, “Which one is Will?” Usually only I yell it, and under my breath…

We make our way over to Frontierland. We asked for the back of Big Thunder Mountain. The girls sat behind me and I tried to snap pictures over my shoulder!
347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644364nu0mrj

347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644453nu0mrj

347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644454nu0mrj

This ride really whips me back and forth across the seat! I ended up with a HUGE bruise on my right thigh – which, I think, shows up in some photographs later in the trip – and a smaller one on my hip. (I also have 3 unidentified bruises on my left leg, and bashed my right calf getting into the plane coming home! I look like the Purple People Eater!)

One of Meg’s favorite attractions is the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. So we end up over there for about 10 minutes. We also spotted Woody coming out to take pictures.
347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644366nu0mrj

We’re headed to the Haunted Mansion. Gotta lock the girls up at the stockade first! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their faces from the sun!
347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644455nu0mrj

At this point, I distinctly remember Ashley whining about wanting to shop right now. I took her into Fantasyland and made her ride It’s a Small World, Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh instead.

347%3B8%3A339%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644456nu0mrj

When there’s no lines, YOU RIDE THE RIDES!!! pirate:

OK, who's ready for lunch??? popcorn::

I'm sorry, the correct spelling of geesh is " geesh". Not jeez. Oh, and I wasn't sure if I should even mention the vicodin factor in my tr, but here you are going on about valium. I'll have you know that I made it down without any drugs at all to get on the durn plane. And now that I was able to accomplish that I have to ask myself. Why? How could I have been such a fool.?
Keep it coming Jamie although I'm still catching up. Just don't write so fast cuz you know I'm a slow reader. :p

HA!!! :happytv: I'm getting spelling instructions from nebo??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So glad you guys are back! Now finish your first report so you can start the next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It hasn't been the same around here without you & diane!

And just wait - the valium will be back!!!!! popcorn::

Who’s ready for lunch? I’m going to go out on a limb and say, 1.) the dark haired, skinny girl who hasn’t spoken for 45 minutes because I won’t let her “shop”, and the 2 who look a little the same who have been snapping at each other the whole time the skinny one’s been quiet. :thumbsup2

So I herd us to the right past the castle, where Meg tries to show Ashley the Cinderella fountain and how, if you squat down a little… ummmm, I don’t think Ashley cares… What gave it away? The “walking right past it and not stopping” part! OK, food it is! :rolleyes1

We head over to Casey’s for lunch – I make sure to tell them right away we’re on the dining plan, because I don’t know if they include fries or what here! This is what I’m told:

1.) Hot dog or corn dog nuggets,
2.) Side of fries or chili
3.) Beverage
4.) Brownie or Cracker Jacks!

Well, how freakin’ cool is Cracker Jacks for dessert????????? :cool1: Both girls got brownies, so apparently NOT so cool… :confused3 (worked well for me though, because a bag of Cracker Jacks TRAVELS until you are ready for them! Brownie, not so much!

So, we ordered (and received): 1 hot dog, 2 corn dog nuggets, 3 sides of fries, 2 brownies, 1 Cracker Jacks, 2 Cokes, and a pink lemonade. I say “received” because on my receipt it shows 2 hot dogs and 1 corn dog nugget… so, even though it was typed wrong, it was given to us correctly… think that means anything? :confused3 ($30.44)

I’ve never seen this happen (and neither will you, because I don’t have a picture – :happytv: HA!!!!!), but as I was ordering the food, a duck walked in to Casey’s. Well, I thought it was funny.

Now we need a place to eat. I haven’t mentioned this yet, because I hadn’t thought about it until this moment, but Ashley was obviously not used to counter service type restaurants. You all know the Counter Service Math Formula – we are getting X amount of food, it will take Y number of people to carry it, so Z has to go find a table!

FLASH FORWARD: (Well that’s NEW!) There was one time in the Pop Century food court where all 3 of us were grabbing breakfast to go – just bagels – and we were there much later than normal (I think I’m jumping ahead a few days here!). Normally, I would go alone and there would be 6 people in the food court and 1 cashier open, this time there are 200 people in the food court and all lines open and FULL!

I knew Ashley wanted a bagel, so I told her, “Get in line. I’ll grab the bagels.” And I take a couple steps, turn my head, and she’s following me. I stop and repeat, “Get in line. I’ll grab the bagels.” She looks at me like I just told her to climb in the cage with the lion, I was going to go get a raw steak.

I say, a little rougher now, “Get in line.” She says, “Which line?” To which I did the Mom-yell (you know, where we yell without raising our voice?), “ANY line is better than following me around.”

I went and got the bagels, and Meg got whatever it was Meg got, and we go to catch up with Ashley in line – and she’s at the END of a line! There’s no way she got IN LINE when I told her to. Arg………

Anyway, back at Casey’s. Ashley wanted to sit outside because she was cold. Have I mentioned she was getting Goosebumps OUTSIDE in the 90 degree, 97% humidity weather??? Seriously, I saw them!

Meg wanted to sit inside because she was hot and the ducks were freaking her out. I don’t care, just get me a table!!! And somebody stay here and carry these drinks!!! (I told you we get cranky if we’re not fed!)

Where did we sit??? :smooth:

jamie, we just got home, and already I am wishing I was there again, reading your report. lOVE le Cellier, didn't do it htis time cause we wanted to try some new places; DH was RIGHT (did you hear that NEBO? I said YOU were RIGHT?) if you find something you like- keep it! um, maybe that's why we kept each other.. can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip. had to laugh about the brook field zoo thing. went there almost every year for field trips in grammar school. in may we wasted a bunch of time and money at Sea world. however... leave BEFORE illuminations??? gee , no matter how crabby you all get with each other during the day, you can't help but snuggling up all misty eyed during that show.
ps. berwyn always makes me think of svengoolie. or are you too young to remember that?
