Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

I think you will be happy with dance lessons! We didn't really prepare, other than practicing a few times in the living room. Throughout the dance I kept thinking "when is this going to be over? This is the longest three minutes of my life!" :rolleyes1

The dance lessons sound like so much fun! :cutie: I think you should get the Cinderella necklace. :goodvibes I'm pretty sure I'm going to order the teardrop Cinderella necklace and earrings from weddingish.com. Their prices seem pretty good, too.

I LOVE your favors and your wedding band! Just gorgeous!!

Thank you so much!!!

Jackie sweetie - Great fun about the dancing lessons!!

Thanks! Chris is such a good sport!

Yay I love catching up on your planning! I am totally with you on huge weddings...how do people do it??? As you know I had a ton of family (and other ugh) drama and I only had 18 guests. Not sure what is wrong with people, it's like they all want to do what they want to do instead of what you NEED them to do. Just rest assured everything will work out and your wedding will be beautiful!

I -love- reading about your wedding too. Everything was just perfect.

Ha! More about dance lessons below, but I am overall glad we're doing it.

Ack! I am so glad you posted about weddingish.com! I thought I found a really good price on the Cinderella necklace... but it was from a Canadian site! :lmao: And they don't ship to the USA! Darnit!

So, apparently I haven't updated in FOREVER, which is bizarre for me. But, from today, we are TWO MONTHS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1: Are you all as excited as I am?!? (Okay, probably not. But probably at least a LITTLE excited, right?

I had my second and, apparently, final fitting (assume I don't lose/gain any weight... which means I have to be careful around Christmas cookies this year; which shouldn't be too big of a deal because we're not going home for Christmas) yesterday and the dress fits perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. She was huge in the bust, but now she is just right. I think I might go get one of those super miracle bras from VS though, just for fun... but we'll see.

Anyway, here's a picture!

And, of course, a side view. What is up with my awkward smile??

DSCN0261.jpg

The seamstress also put a very simple, one tie bustle, but I think it really works for this dress. If you fluff it out, you can't even tell that there is a bustle!

DSCN0266.jpg

She told me I could get a flower or something to put where the little bow is, or you can tuck the bow in or just leave it... but I kind of like it! What do you all think? (Also, please ignore the little bit of back fat there. :lmao:

Fluffed up bustle: see what I mean! It looks invisible!

DSCN0267.jpg

Anywho, I am really happy with it AND the price. (Cost for alterations: less than $100!) The seamstress is also taking in my pretty blue dress and adding some boning to it. She's also storing my dress at her shop, which is great because my closet is not big enough for her! (Yes, I refer to my dress as though she is a person.) I just can't wait to wear it.

Okay, for this next part: Bridesmaids, quickly scroll by this part!

Awhile ago, I bought sweatpants with the intent of having Amanda embroider them for myself and bridesmaids. They turned out so well!

I know, aren't you all surprised I gave the Matron of Honor Belle? That's true friendship right there. :lmao: And my MOH isn't really into Disney, but she loves vintage things and the 1940's and she's classy, so I decided her favorite princess was Snow White. I'm also waiting for my iron on transfers to come in the mail so I can make our t-shirts, and I need to find a black hoodie for myself.

Bridesmaids, you can read again!

Speaking of bridesmaids, I have no idea if my FSIL has her dress. She told me she called Alfred Angelo and they were rude to her, but that's all I know. I don't think she has it yet--- and I know they send dresses back if they don't get picked up within 2 weeks. FSIL was supposed to call me on Thursday (we set up a time for it and everything) but she blew me off. I'm pretty annoyed, but also becoming blase about it... if she doesn't have her dress, then she can't walk down the aisle. I live 1000 miles away; I certainly can't go get her dress for her! She's going through a lot right now, but... well, everyone is. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I haven't had her do a single thing for the wedding besides choose a dress--- I even ordered it for her, remember. If she can't go get a dress, there is nothing I can do about it.

Okay, sorry about that. Rant over!

Also, Becky's dress and sash are in and she is SUPPOSED to be trying them on together soon, so I should have a picture of that relatively soon.

Look what else came in--- my Jane Austen tea! I'm working on assembling the favor boxes and tags, and I'll post pictures of it all together when I'm done:

Almost all of our RSVPs are in too; we're just waiting on two: Chris's BIL and his dad. We're pretty sure his dad isn't coming, and BIL is still "undecided." He still has to find money for a plane ticket and hotel room and yadda yadda yadda... so, I guess for the time being we'll mark him down as coming, but I truly don't think it will happen. But we'll see. It looks like our final guest count, including DF and I, is 20/21, so we're basically an Escape wedding!

As for everything else, our dance lessons have been going well--- we're getting pretty good, if I do say so myself! However, I am pretty irritated with our dance studio. We go to Fred Astaire, and after every lesson they give us a high pressure sales pitch! The lessons are NOT cheap, and they have tried to sell us entrance to a dance competition (at $40 per 3 minute dance and they wanted us to do 6 of them), a $25 practice CD (who pays more than $10 for CDs these days?!?!), and $100 dance shoes. I realize it's part of their job, but I find it distasteful. At least DF and I can joke about it though!

DF and I have also been sick for a week. :( I feel much better today, but DF says he doesn't... but I think he's just fallen victim to the man cold. :lmao: He feels well enough to be sitting on the floor playing video games right now, so how bad can it be?!

Have a good week everyone! I'm sure I'll check in soon... and only 2 months until I get married!!!

I am excited for you!! Probably not as excited as you though :lmao:

Your dress looks gorgeous! I really love the bustle and how you can't even tell it's bustled at all! The ribbon is cute, I think you would be just fine leaving it as is.

The sweatpants you have for your girls are just awesome! I love them - and it was very generous of you to "give" Belle to someone else :rotfl: I just watched Beauty and the Beast again last night on ABC family and it reminded me once again how much I love that movie  I think they need to make a Beauty and the Beast vinylmation set, how cool would that be!

And that's so annoying about the dance place. I really hate it when they try and pressure you like that. One of the reasons why I decided not to do it was because the place we were looking at was only for one session, and I felt like they would probably not do very much in one session and then try to convince you that you needed more :confused3 But as someone else said it's good that you're doing it so it doesn't feel super awkward!

Yay 2 months!!!!!:banana::banana:

I woke up today and didnt even know until i glanced at our calender and saw that it was the 6th. Trace loves the sweatpants idea...she might steal it if that OK.....whered you get the princess patches?

:cheer2: I can't believe it's so close. I am so excited for you... and like I tell you every single time.. me and Charley have no problems coming down to be your guests!!! :rotfl2: (no joke though  )

-Ok so moving... your dress looks AMAZING!! I can't wait to see you all dolled up with the hair and make-up!! :cutie: It's going to be awesome!
-And def nice price on the alterations. I like the simple bustle..and so will your MOH!! :rotfl: Tanis was thanking me over and over for having a simple eyelet hook thingie!! (I know tons of alterations terminology, ask if you need help :lmao: )
-Don't you just LOVE the train on this darn dress!?!?!
-Love the sweats!! They will be so warm and cozy! And they have a Disney princess on them without costing $45.99!!
-FSIL bites big one. I'm sorry!! Get a grip sister!! Ya know??
-Can't wait to actually see Becky in the dress and everything.. how exciting!
:woohoo: for the tea finally coming in. Now you can get all of that assembled and put away. Don't leave everything til the last minute. You don't want to be stressed!
-And boo to pushy *** people. lol I can't stand that. Tell them to let you take your damn classes in peace!!

So I hope you and Chris feel better soon. It really sucks being sick. I have acute sinusitis, and it blows!! So I def know how you guys feel. Rest up and take plenty of meds and drink lots of fluids. You don't want to be sick for your wedding and honeymoon!!!

BTW I'm glad you finally posted. I was about to send you message about your lack of posting!! :goodvibes

Happy 2 months!!! :dance3:

Thank you so much!! And OMG I think a BatB vinyl set would be *amazing.* I want one with the little footstool puppy! I really think Disney should get on that. I'm surprised they did a Lion King one, tbh. Lion King is probably my first or second favorite Disney movie (it changes depending on my mood), but I didn't even get any of the vinyls because they weren't that cute.

Happy 2 months!!! :dance3:

Oh Jennifer, your response just made me giggle so much. Especially the "eyelet hook thingie." I'm DYING over here. And I love how your post was half mommish--- "now, don't wait until the last minute." Well, Mrs.Mom, the tea is ALMOST done, I just need another spool of ribbon. :lmao:

And I know, it took me FOREVER to post. I think people forgot about me!

Congrats!!!

Pluto is almost at the finish line! :lmao:

Yes, he is! I can't wait for him to come to our wedding! :)

Aw that dress is so pretty!! I love it!! I love the simple ribbon for the bustle too!! You're getting so close and it seems like youre right on track! :goodvibes

On one of the vinylmation sites I was reading about someone speculating on a Beauty and the Beast set just because they haven't done any of the BatB characters in any of the other sets (like animation), and there are so many characters that they could use! Plus with Lion King and Alice it seems like they're starting to do more movie specific sets.

I like the Lion King set but it's not my fave. I got a few blind boxes. My first pull was baby simba which I was happy about because that one is pretty adorable!

Heya Jackie,

Just caught up with everything and your dress is amazing and you look wonderful in it.

The sweatpants turned out great, love them.

2 months to go! How exciting, it'll soon be here! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

I know I haven't posted in forever...I've been a lazy disbride!! boo on me. Anyway, I just have to say:

Dress=Gorgeous! Beautiful! Stunning! Wowza!
Sweatpants=Awesome! Cool! Lucky BM's!
Jane Austen Tea=Jealous!

Seriously though, you look SOOO pretty in your dress. You are just glowing. I am super excited for you. Especially since I must live vicariously through you now that my day is over. :sad1:

That bustle is great. You're right, when its fluffed out, you can't even tell at all.

As a dance teacher (even though I teach ballet and not ballroom) I am wondering if you have any local studios and not a "chain?" I think you could get instruction thats just as good (if not better) and definitely without the pressure tactics. A place like that is a business first, and with local studios, it's our love of dance and not the money...but I'm rambling. Sorry. Anyway...Sooo happy you guys are dancing! :dance3: hehe.

Loving everything! keep the updates coming!

Oohh that's good you got Baby Simba. Let's keep our fingers crossed for BatB! I can't wait for the HM set.

Awww, thank you for the compliments, Allie!!!

And I really wish I had done more research and gone to a local studio--- but we did a package of five lessons (nonrefundable) at Fred Astaire, so we're kind of stuck now. If we decide to continue later on, we will CERTAINLY go to a local studio! We're having fun doing the rumba, regardless. :)

Anyway, this is non-wedding related, but I just wanted to post my fabulous news: I got into Teach for America!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be teaching Secondary English in Milwaukee next year. I am already nervous, but so excited!!! (I know a lot of you saw this on facebook already, but I figured it couldn't hurt to put it here, too!)

Congrats on Teach for America. You must be so excited!!!

Your dress is gorgeous.

Congratulations!!! That is so awesome, you will be a wonderful teacher!! You'll have to keep me updated once you get your curriculum and all, as another English teacher I'm always curious about stuff like that!
