Okay, so now it's finally time for a real, live wedding update!

I had my first fitting today--- I was so nervous and I was convinced that all of the birthday eatings would make my dress not fit. (I am really irrational and that did not happen at all.) Anyway, it was really simple and only took about 15 minutes; I had to go alone so I don't even have any pictures to show you all! We have to take in the chest area by a LOT and add a bustle, but that's about it. I'm fine with the length; it may be just a bit too long, but the skirt is huge so it's not like I'm going to be tripping over it or anything. And she's charging me less than $100--- so woohoo!

After the alterations, DF and I went to the jewelry store because the rings we had requested came in. DF chose and purchased this ring:

photo8-2.jpg

I like it! :thumbsup2 We also requested a ring be ordered for me, and we're going to look at it next weekend and, if I like it, it will be mine. It's a bit out of budget, but not extravagantly so. I got a Pandora charm while I was there too because... well... I was there. ;)

Oh, so I promised I would explain the Groomsman Situation and ughhhh. So, we lost one groomsmen, but I'm fine with it and I understand. Chris's best man and one of his groomsmen had been in a long term, serious relationship, but recently called it quits. The groomsman (not the best man) decided it would be best for everyone if he called it quits, and I agree that it was probably the best choice for everyone. It sucks a little, and I feel bad for Chris's best man, but it was the best decision.

As for the other questionable groomsman... the entire situation just irks me to no end. He's Chris's BIL (his sister's husband, the one who is also a bridesmaid), but his sister the groomsman are currently kinda sorta separated. The BIL has made some awful choices as of late: and by "awful choices" I mean "he got a DUI and has had his license revoked for a year," and I HATE IT when people drive drunk. Sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here, but I think it's just a selfish, senseless crime. ANYWAY, so he's out of work, is back living with his parents, and can't drive, but he and DF's sister are at least on speaking terms, but she won't tell anyone "what's going on with him" and DF is avoiding the situation too. Obviously I want the guy to get better, but his whole family idolizes this man, and I just don't get it. Like, even though they're separated and got a DUI and stopped paying the homeowner's insurance on the house that he and DF's sister and mother all co-own (and didn't tell anyone he wasn't paying anymore), they all still threw him a birthday party.... and all I got in the mail was a Cinderella toy from Target. Sigh. Senseless, incoherent rant over.

I just don't understand how I have had *this* much drama from people! 20 people are coming to my wedding; they should NOT be giving me this many issues! I am horrified to think how many problems I would have if I were having a large wedding at home...

Anyway, on a much lighter note, we leave for our Weddingmoon exactly 100 days from today, and I have SO much stuff to do! I really need to make a steaming appointment and finalize our ceremony with Reverend Jack, and we kinda sorta need to get our invitations out. But, I just got 40 papers in from my students and I'm a bit behind on studying for my Master's Exam, so that may have to wait... or not. Wedding stuff is so much more fun than school stuff! (Sometimes, anyway.)

That's all for today, I think. I am sure something else will come up within the next few days though, so I'll be around. I really think I am full-fledged addicted to the disboards...

It's okay, I'm addicted too! But that totally does suck about the groomsman situation. I can really relate to your feelings on drunk driving. DH's mom was telling us a story once about how she was driving home after a bunch of drinks and I almost lost it. It's like, not only do you do it but then you talk about it so casually like it's not big deal? And her response is that it's okay because her boys weren't in the car (meaning her sons). And it just makes me so mad because obviously it's not just your car and the people in YOUR car that can be affected by your poor decisions. So anyway, not to go on but I totally get where you are coming from.

I really hope for you that the bridal party situation gets worked out soon - I know it can be really stressful. But it is exciting that you are 100 days out! I feel like the last 100 days went really quickly!

Heya!

I'm totally with you on the whole DUI thing... I try not to think about it cause otherwise theres no getting me off my soapbox :goodvibes

Shame about the groomsman situation, sadly somethings the hardest choices are the best ones.

DFs ring looks alot like my DFs ring, great choice! :goodvibes

100 days away... it'll soon come round!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Jackie sweetie - I am so with you on the whole drink driving thing. In my job, I see far too often, the consequences of this reckless and selfish behaviour. There is absolutely no excuse for it at all.
Sorry about all the hassle this is causing for you sweetie!!

I feel like all guy's rings look the same to me. I'm just glad DF didn't want a gold ring... because then we get to spend more money on mine. :lmao:

Guess what ladies?! I'm getting married ONE HUNDRED DAYS FROM TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I'm at 100 days!!! And now only 97 days until I'm back in the world! People can't seem to believe me when I tell them that January is only 3 months away (I know though--- Captain Obvious, right??). I think people are in denial about winter coming. I say, bring it on!

Oh, so DF must have heard me whining about him on the disboards--- he finally talked to his BIL. His BIL is still planning on coming to the wedding, but doesn't want to be a groomsman anymore. Truthfully, I will be surprised if the BIL ends up coming, but I didn't say anything to Chris about that! I suppose we will just wait and see. I think I am mostly irritated that neither groomsman had the courage to man up and tell Chris they wouldn't be in the wedding anymore; Chris had to ask them! DF is a little sad about it, I think, and I'm pretty sure his feelings are kind of hurt, but I just haven't brought it up anymore. I'd rather have two GMs who want to be there for him than 5 million who don't. :goodvibes

My guestbook came in the mail! I might post pictures later. It's absolutely gorgeous. I am still unsure if it is $90 gorgeous, but I'm also really cheap and very few things are $90 worth of gorgeous to me!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! And remember--- 100 days from today is my wedding day!:bride:

:cheer2: You are at 100 days out--That's so fantastic! You have no idea how fast it'll fly by...Soon you'll be at 50...then 30...then 10...then 0!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! :goodvibes

I'm sad to hear about BIL...I would be SO devastated if mine couldn't stand up for the two of us. :guilty: I hope he will be able to make it, seems like the right thing to do.

:lmao: I wanna see pics! ;) I know it's expensive, but it's gotta be awesome with all your pictures!!!

100 days, congrats!! :goodvibes It actually is rather hard to believe that January is only 3 months away - I guess because it's still hot here! I'm shocked but we actually still have the AC on (and I only have it on when it's really warm because I find I'm naturally cold so hot weather doesn't bother me that much!). So it's hard to believe that snow, Christmas, and winter are so close!

I'm really sorry about your BIL and the groomsmen situation. I know it's an awful feeling. I was having the feeling before my wedding that no one cared and no one was going to show up and it certainly didn't help with the nerves. But in the end those that really care will be there for you and it will make your day special and wonderful!

I want to see pictures of the guest book too!

So I am a day late and can't say congrats to 100 days...but I can say congrats to 99 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :yay:  :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Jackie,

Sorry I missed your birthday. Hope it was a great day! :bday:

Sorry, too, about your groomsman drama. Hopefully, it will all work out with your BIL.

Congrats on the dress fitting going well and also for hitting double digits!!! :yay:party:

Good luck with all the papers to grade.

wooo! 100 days! I can't believe Winter is going to be here soon! And you better post pictures of the guest book! Or else! lol

Loving your PJ... I'm hooked already! I love the engagement story, mine was no where near as romantic and was totally not what I had in my head for my big moment!

I'll be following you a long and can't wait to hear all about your big day. Especially as it is must a month before ours!

Best Wishes to you both!

Ack! Everyone keeps saying it will fly by--- and some days it does, and some days it dragssssssssssssss! And I really hope DF's bil can go too, for his sake. And I'll have guestbook pics below! :D

Yeah, I've heard it's been really hot back home in CT--- it's pretty much fall in WI, which makes me happy. And you just stated my exact philosophy--- sometimes I also get really grumpy and think no one cares, but I know the people who will care will be there and that's all that matters. :goodvibes And guest book below!

I can't believe winter is so soon either, Nancy! And see below!

Awww I am sure your proposal was amazing. My DF would NEVER plan this thing on his own! And some of our engagement pics were on Luau Beach, and it's such a gorgeous site. :D

Okay, next post will be picture heavy, so it has to be a new topic!

Hi girls! So it's been a very busy wedding weekend. But, first, here is our guestbook!

The more I look at it, the more I love it. I definitely made the right, albeit expensive, choice!

Let's see, what else. This weekend, DF and I went to the jewelry store and I bought my wedding ring! They only had a sample of it in yellow gold without the diamonds, so I don't have a picture yet, but I'll have it to show you all in two weeks. And, let me tell you girls, I am in love with it. It is GORGEOUS! It is... over-budget, but shhh. :goodvibes

We also finalized and addressed the invitations, and I am going out in the morning to mail them! I am SO excited! DF designed the invitations, and he did a terrific job:

DSCN0242.jpg

I love them. We printed them at home on paper we got from Michael's--- and I had the worst experience at Michael's ever. I returned two packages of rocks for the centerpieces and they refused to give me full credit for them even though I had my receipt, and the cashier was CLUELESS and it took us 15 minutes to check out even though there was only one person ahead of us in line. UGH I'm getting so mad just thinking about it.

Speaking of centerpieces, I made a last minute change to them! You know how they're all resting in clear vases with rocks? Well, I decided that was kind of complicated, and it was way too easy to tell when the topiaries were a little lopsided. SO, I decided I wanted to use different, not clear vases. I popped into Goodwill (oh yes!) and bought these little beauties:

DSCN0243.jpg

And all 7 cost $7 total! No, they're not exactly the trendiest things in the world, but I feel like they definitely match The Attic. They would not work in a Grand Floridian ballroom, but they really work for The Attic. We cleaned them up today, and I wanted to show you all this one. It's the most bizarre:

DSCN0244.jpg

Oh yes, that IS a swan vase! :lmao: I'm growing oddly attached to it though. Who knew. I still need 2 more vases; I need to find another Goodwill!

Anddd my pretty blue dress came in. I was SO nervous because of how mean the shop had been to me, and they said over the phone that I -had- to try it on in the shop, but that wasn't happening. Thankfully, they didn't. They weren't exactly nice to me (they had that "bridal snob" attitude going on), but I got my dress and left. And here's a SUPER awkward picture Chris took of me in it!

DSCN0245.jpg

I still like it a lot. :D

I also got our ceremony together and emailed it to Rev Jack, and I'm sending him a snail mail copy in the morning. We're just using his basic non-religious ceremony; nothing fancy. I wanted to write my own ceremony, but I'm just too tired, and his is lovely anyway.

Oh! Chris's best man ordered his tux already! :cool1::cool1: We didn't even have to bug him; he just went on his own. I kind of wanted to give him a hug.

Well, I can't think of anything else, but it was a productive weekend, as you can see! I finished grading papers too--- I'm pretty beat. You know, I'm glad I'm in school right now because the weeks go by SO quickly, but I'm also trying to cherish the anticipation. But it's SO hard, I just wanna be married and go flounce around in my pretty pretty princess dress! :lmao:

Have a good week, gals! I'm sure I'll update soon!

WOW! You have alot of updates! I hope that I don't forget anything. Let me start out by saying that I love you in the blue dress! Its sooooo pretty!!! :goodvibes And OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR guestbook it GREAT!!!!! I want one!!!!! The invitations are so pretty, your DF did a really good job. YAY for finding centerpieces for such a good price. :thumbsup2

I completely understand how you feel about enjoying all the moments before the wedding. Before we know it we will get to wear our cool wedding dresses!!! I can't wait for more updates!

Hi sweetie, just checking in!!! Those vases are strangely attractive aren't they!!!
You look absolutely gorgeous in your special blue dress. Such a princess!!!
I love love love the guestbook!!! You did an excellent job!!

Wow, massive amount of updates! First of all, I do love the guest book. It's just so perfect for a Disney themed wedding, and the cover is especially gorgeous. And your invites look great! Yay for having those done, to me that felt like a pretty important step in the wedding planning process. And now you get to mail them! I love what you guys did with them, especially for just using the Michael's invites. I remember seeing those and thinking they were really plain but you did a great job making them beautiful!

The vases are a fun find, and you're totally right, they will look great in the attic. I really like the blue one! Hope you find a few more that capture the right feel!

And your dress is so pretty. I forget, do you know when you'll be wearing it yet? Rehearsal dinner? And I totally relate to how you're feeling these few months before the wedding. Sometimes it seemed to fly by, and I wanted to just get to the wedding, but other times I really needed things to slow down because I wanted to enjoy it and I didn't want this exciting event I've been looking forward to for so long to be over already!

great update!!

love the invites and the guestbook!!

time will fly from here!! be glad you're getting everything done now!!

Your guest book is lovely!!! It's worth the money since you'll have it forever! And your right, those vases go so well with the look if the attic. I like them a lot and what a deal! I need to check out Goodwill more often! I'm off to CT tomorrow, I'll say hello to our home state for ya ;)
