J. Lawrence as Katniss!? opinions?

I loved the Hunger Games books and the movie Winter's Bone. I would never have thought of Jennifer as Katniss. I am not sure how they are going to pull off her age (by the time the 3rd movie is filmed she may be 25)!

I actually liked Saoirse Ronan for the role. She is who I pictured while reading the book.

Not who I pictured playing Katniss. After I saw True Grit, I wanted Hailee Steinfeld to get the part. But considering Jennifer Lawrence was up for an Oscar, how bad could she be? At least this doesn't seem to be going the Twilight route...depending on who they cast for Peeta and Gale.

Not who I had pictured in my mind, but I heard she was brilliant in Winter's Bone. I sure do hope it turns out well since these have been my favorite books in years(well, since the last Harry Potter.). I actually read all three in less than two days.

me too!!! I was bummed when I read that Jennifer Lawrence got it. Now I'm anxious to hear who will play Peeta. Hunter Parrish seems to be a good fit looks wise. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. When I was reading the books I said to DH, "I hope they don't make this into a movie, they will never do it justice" Spoke too soon! I have absolutely loved the books. I hope that the movies turn out well.

She's not how I pictured Katniss looking. She's just too pretty, IMO. I haven't seen her act before, so I can't comment on that, but I guess we'll see what they do with make-up and such to make her look like Katniss.

I'm curious to see who they end up casting as Peeta.

See I find Hunter Parrish to be too skinny and lanky to be Peeta. While he is far too old I pictured more of a Kellan Lutz body type. Good looking but stocky and a little doughy. Not as rough as Katniss.

There is a lot of talk surrounding Alex Pettyfer and he seems too skinny and in shape to me too.

Well, after Cinna makes Katniss over, she's supposed to be a knock-out so I don't think Jennifer being too pretty will be a problem. They roughed her up in Winter's Bone so I'm sure they'll do a good job for the pre-makeover Katniss.
