and I was wondering what the pro/cons are!

I do live near the beach and love to swim. I'm not a thrill seeker so going down a slide at high speed does not apeal to me at all!
I like to stay at resorts with pools so I can get some swimming in if I feel the need.

But I was wondering if I was missing something because I've never gone to a water park, anywhere........ever! So because I'm always planning the next trip back to WDW, should I plan to visit a water park? Or just skip it? My usual length of visit is a 5 days to a week. No kids to think of, or husband. This would be a solo trip.

If the water parks our included in your plan, I would say stop in and take a look, but it doesn't seem worth your while to pay extra.

I like water parks. They have nice slides that dont go to fast - just turns and all. They do have fast slides. They have a wave pool (Althought its very crowded!)

The lazy river - now that is worth it. Lay on the water - go around the park and get some sun! Just expect some splashing and some people bumping into you.

I enjoy it. It is a break from the other parks. Its a half day thing and then at night you can hit another park all fresh from a day in the water.

We've never been to the water parks either (even the ones close to home) - It just doesn't appeal to us that much.

If you have an Ultimate Parkhopper Pass and are staying for 5 to 7 days, by all means check out the water parks! I think you'll have a really fun time!

Like you, I travel to WDW solo, no kids, no husband. (It's a blast!) I find I enjoy the waterparks every bit as much as the theme parks. I'm not a thrill ride person, I just like floating around the park in the lazy river and swimming in the wave pools. Sometimes I'll go on a waterslide. Typhoon Lagoon has a really neat Shark Reef (very tiny sharks and other fish) where you can snorkel with sharks.

Mostly, I just enjoy the atmosphere, float in the lazy river and relax from the hubbub of the parks. It's a great way to spend a morning or an afternoon.

Try it! I think you'll like it.

I suggest a day at the water parks. I don't do slides but enjoy sitting on the beach or going into the lazy river. We love TL and the wave pool.

I have a question for everyone somewhat on the subject of this. I am 25 and am making my first trip to Disney in November with 3 other people my age. We were wondering what waterpark everyone liked better, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. They are not explained very well in any book I've read, so I'm wondering what everyone prefers. Thanks!

We like TL. I don't need the slides but like the wave pool and the tropical theming. I love the lazy river and the shark tank.

I love Disney water parks because of the wave pools. There are local water parks with wave pools and lazy rivers, but boy are they crowded! Even over the 4th of July weekend, we've been to Disney's and I've always had enough personal space to enjoy the waves.

The water parks are the prinicpal reason that I've tried and tried to fit in a WDW trip before our cruise, but the schedule won't allow for one. I am hoping that it is warm and we can go to one of the water parks in November after the cruise.

Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite.

I never thought I would like a water park either. One trip we had a lot of time and passes than included them so we went to BB and TL. I LOVED them! TL is our favorite.

Another vote to go to the waterpark. I did a solo trip 2 years ago and was the first time I had time to visit TL. I was planning on just spending a couple of hours but I was there until 3:00pm (from 9:00am). I LOVED IT! There is no swimming per say, but that lazy river and the wave pool are worth it! I didn't do the slides because of my back but kept myself entertained with the lazy river, the wave pool and the shark reef. And the water is very COOL! Not like the hotel pools, that for some reason, they are heated in that sweltering FL heat! YUK! This year I intend to hit the waterparks almost every day, instead of going back to the hotel to swim, we're going to one of the waterparks (we have UPH). Hope you decide to give it a try, you won't regret it! I've only been to TL but I'm willing to try BB this time around (if we can get in). HTH

I'm beginning to think I'll go. Now I guess I'll post and ask everyone which is better, TL or BB!

Differences

BB ~
Cartoon theme the kids love
Great small & medium kids areas
Lots of slides
Skylift to top
Great Family Raft ride
Calm wave pool

TL ~
Tropical theme
Lush adult landscaping
Awesome Wave Pool
Enough slides to have a good time !
Shark Reef
Maybe alittle more shade

Both have lazy rivers, reasonable priced food offerings, and all the basics.
I think if I were doing a trip w/out my kids I would do TL !! It seems more adult oriented.
