Well today is another sad day in my family. A few months ago I lost my Grandma Hazel (my stepmother's mother). This morning my Grandmother (my mom's mother) passed away. Her 4 children and several of her grandchildren (including me) were with her when she took her last breath at 5am this morning. This week was especially tough as her health had been declining but she suffered a massive stroke on Tuesday and it was a very hard week for her from there. We were all glad that she was no longer in pain but yes we are sad for our loss.

Once again I am faced with telling my 2 young boys that another Grandma has gone to heaven. I suffered several devistating losses when I was young but I can't help but think that these 2 little boys will experience so much more death at a younger age. Modern medicine is great for extending our lives but it has also increased the amount of sadness and devistation that we all experience in our lives. My children still have one living great grandmother and 6 grandparents that won't likely live until they are 18. My heart breaks for them that they have to experience so much at such a young age. I am grateful that my children have had the opportunity to know these wonderful women but sad that they won't get to know them more.

It is such a sad day :sad1:

I am so so sorry sweetie, my prayers are with you and your family.  :grouphug: :grouphug:

 I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm afraid I will be facing the same situation soon. My grandmother raised me and my dh, oldest dd and I lived with her for my dd's first 3 years. She is 84 and has seen all but one of her friends die in the last 18 months. It's so sad. I can see her slowing down and I know that she won't be around forever. As devastating that loss will be for me I can't imagine how I will tell my child. Her little heart will just break. :rose:

:grouphug: I'm very sorry for your loss. Hold on to your memories.

I'm sorry. My stepdad lost his dad, my grandpa, last week. Then today my friend lost his grandmother.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know your pain too personally....

My son lost 3 of his favorite aunts, his Grandma, his Granddad, the two cats he had since birth, and my sister's mother in law, another "Grandma", between the ages of 8 and 10. Each time I had to tell him tore my heart apart.

Surprisingly, through his faith and strength of character, he got ME through each trial! Children are so much stronger than we give them credit for. They cry, they hurt, but they HEAL faster than we do. The important thing is they have YOU. They start questioning your mortality and that's what scares them. Give them solace and total reassurance that Mommy and or Daddy will still be there and they'll be okay.

God bless,

Robin

I am so sorry for your loss. I know what you feel and how hard it is. Today is the 1 year mark since my grandmother (mom's mother) passed away. Grangma passed 1.8.05 between the times of 12pm and 3pm.

I am sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I feel that I am almost an expert in dealing with death for myself but it seems to be so much for my boys.

Thanks for all the hugs! I can certainly use them :goodvibes

Hugs and prayers and pixie dust for you. Seems as if a lot of us are dealing with deaths of loved ones lately. Maybe your grandmas and my mom are meeting as we DIS! ;) If your grans were Steeler fans, I know they've all gotten together! My mom was a super Steeler fan! :cool1:

I am sorry for your loss. I too, know how it feels to lose multiple grandparents in a short amount of time. My paternal grandmother and grandfather died within 30 days of each other....unrelated reasons. It was devestating enough for me, but I can't imagine how my father felt.
