Lauri - hang in there - I know you haven't much time, so maybe we can chat later, but just so you know - my Mom went into a nursing home in January - a year after we lost my Dad - and she has improved so much! All my guilt over her being there is gone when I see how well she is doing. Things WILL work out - keep the faith....

I think it is horrible to invite a parent into your home and then kick them out...believe me, my dad can be IRRITATING, but DH would NEVER EVER do that. He's a compassionate person.

NEVER and ALWAYS are two words that can be dangerous!! They have a way of coming back to haunt you.

This woman has taken care of her MIL for years and now has reached her breaking point and needs a break. This is much kinder to her MIL than continuing to care for her in her home and resenting it. Elder abuse happens under these circumstances.

No offense to the OP but if there was a question of the quality of care she was receiving why did they continue to allow the living arrangement. I know it's a hard situation for everyone concerned, but it doesn't seem right to villanize a woman who took her MIL into her home. I'm not sure I would be able to do what she has done.
