Weird ? ALERT!

Anyone the "planner" and its your own b-day? We are going over my b-day, and feel stupid telling dinning, about my own b-day  but no one else is. :confused3 Or ordering a cake. We have been there before and just doesn't feel like a b-day without a cake, etc... . Should I force sis to do it. (I know she won't) Last time at wdw I had a hot dog in the backlot mgm for big b-day fest. :lmao: Just don't want to repeat it.

I just celebrated my 40th at WDW in December, and I planned the entire trip myself. Who else was going to do it? I had my birthday lunch in the castle and it was very magical! Go for it! At least you'll get to celebrate the way you want to.

I'm the planner and it was my b-day during our Christmas trip in 2004. I made reservations for the Hoop Dee Doo and it was the best. DH and the children bought me that huge Mickey Birthday hat that lights up and made me wear it all day!!! :teeth: I say but the hat and see what kind of attention you cause!! You'll have a great day!! :teeth: It's your day, plan whatever you like and celebrate it!!!

So glad I'm not the only one. I did all the planning so far for my 30th in Disney this summer, made our dinner reservations. Asked my husband to put it on our reservation (hoping for maybe some balloons in the room from WL) but he hadn't as of yesterday so I just called and did it, I did feel stupid adding it for myself, but heck, why not. Hoping he'll do the cake ordering part and whatever else. . ..we'll see : )

Better to plan for yourself then be angry on the day that nothing was done or have regrets later on. Disney has so many freebies that are great for birthdays that it would be a shame to miss out. You can always call the restaurant ask them to surprise you with a cake within a certain price range. This way you still get some "planned" surprises.

I'm having the same problem. My birthday is next Tuesday and DH and I will be there Mon-Wed. I really don't want to ask for special favors myself, I just can't bring myself to call CRO or Dining to make any notations. So my solution is to have DH mention it at check-in and I'll say it at the restaurants. Anyway, you can treat yourself to the little things that make you happy (like funnel cake). :cloud9:

Last year I went for my birthday and am going again. When I called for my ADRs I simply told them that there was "a" birthday. Most of the time they didn't ask whose birthday it was. That way I felt a little better about making the notations for myself.

Make sure you go to the guest relations in the parks and get the birthday pin.

People will say happy birthday to you, and thars cool

Just like MrsJobba said, get your "It's My Birthday" pin...
It's a lot of fun to see how many strangers and CM will congratulate you... :)

oh and yeah plan it yourself... you get exactly what you want and if there's anything extra it'll be a nice surprise... :)

We are going in May for my birthday! I am doing all the planning and I told EVERYONE it was my birthday!!! :rotfl2: Its noted on my WL reservation, and on my ADRs for Crystal Palace and WCC on my actual birthday.....but I am celebrating all week!! I am making myself birthday t-shirts and plan on getting the birthday buttons in the parks. We also are going to make a reservation for a massage at WL during the week. :thumbsup2 My DH said to plan whatever I wanted for the week!! I say go for it and make it your best birthday ever!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Our August trip happens over my birhtday, too! So I had our AAA agent note it on the ressies. I didn't have it noted on any of our ADRs because we will be on the dining plan so we'll all get dessert with our meals. No cake necessary! Of course since I am the planner I got to choose where we are eating not just on my birthday but EVERY DAY! :rotfl: But for my birthday we are having breakfast at CP because I love it there!

I am the vacation planner in the family. So, when we were at WDW last year for my B-day, I left it up to my DH to tell the resort it was my B-day. Well, guess who forgot. I did stop at guest relations for the Birthday pin. That resulted in cake at WCC, and many "Happy Birthday" from the CM's. Lesson learned. Next time I won't be so shy and will make sure to tell "everyone" that it is my Birthday.

Happy Birthday in advance!!!!!!!!

My birthday falls during our Nov/Dec trip and I am the planner. I have NO PROBLEM telling CRO and noting it on our ADR for Le Cellier that it is my birthday. :lmao:

Wow, this is a GREAT thread ! :thumbsup2 My DS and I are going to WDW(in Dec.) to celebrate his 13th and my 50th!! Mine will be first on the 18th and then his is on th 21st. It will be a short trip for us but hopefully LOTS of fun! I will now look forward to planning my BD as much as his!!! Joan

Yes, I'm the planner and we are going for my 30th on Sunday. I made my husband call for our ADR at Citrico's. I am hoping that he ordered the slipper dessert for me. I have mentioned it several times. I bet he forgot. I bet he forgot to tell CRO that it was my bday too. I fell stupid telling people it's my bday because it's not as fun and special when you have to do it yourself.

I have the same dilemma, so I'm so glad someone else raised the issue. My birthday is the last Sunday we're there and I would really like to have a cake or balloons or something, but I feel geeky doing it for myself. Maybe getting the TA to do it is the answer...

I stopped at the Guest Services window before we entered Epcot on my birthday in October '04. I proudly wore the b'day button all day! :woohoo: Got lots of "Happy Birthday's" from guests and CM's.

In Le Cellier for lunch, they asked me if I could pick one dessert, what would it be, and oh, what was my name please? Well they brought out a creme brulee with Congrats Terry or something scripted in chocolate!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

At the Food and Wine Festival I went into the Australian wine "walkabout",
a special area where you can sample wines. Well at one kiosk everyone sang Happy Birthday to me! It was so funny! (It may have been all that merlot :goofy: !!!!)

Boardwalk Villas actually left a little cake :cake: on our table, with a candle (matches too) and party hats !!!
(I think that may have been because we had SUCH trouble on our arrival -- put into a horribly stinky smoky villa, then they didn't clean it, we were displaced for hours. I told them they ruined my birthday weekend. They paid for dinner that night too. I digress....)

YES, TELL ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN IN DISNEY THAT IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY !!! GET A BIRTHDAY BUTTON ! I'm doing it again in 2006 and 2007 (the big five-o gag me ---where's that smiley, Mickey with his finger down his throat !!!! )

Have a blast and oh :bday:

Toodles. Terry in NJ :hippie:

But there is always that Disney magic. I'm the same way - I was there on my bday last year, and didn't tell a soul. But I did make ADRs for CRT. (It was just me and DS, who was oblivious that it was my bday). Our table was decorated for a birthday. Very unexpected!

Best I can figure, they caught it on my ressie - I know they have my b-day, because it shows up on their site, like when I order a vacation planning video.

Absolutely make your birthday fabulous!

I am the ONLY planner in my entire family!

I'm doing everything possible to make sure my 40th bday is as special as it can be. Twice as nice is the fact that my daughter will be 11, and what a perfect age to see Disney again, as a child, through her eyes. (At 4, 5, & 6 she was a bit young for all the stuff she'll enjoy this time.)

And....what better present can your spouse, family, etc. give you, than to customize the WDW trip yourself!!!

Sigh....I'm actually quite spoiled, my 40th bday present from my darling hubby was supposed to be the trip. HOWEVER, on my bday he gave me a little box with a note that said "remember the ring you wanted at the upscale jewerly store? Happy Birthday!" Wow!

GO FOR IT - MAKE YOUR DAY SPECIAL!!!

I am starting to plan for my 50th at the EPCOT Flower and Garden Show in spring '07. I've always wanted to go, but I teach school and could never allow myself to take the time off. Since we haven't gotten a raise in 5 years (and it's not looking too good for this next year either) and the district has decided that we need to use our personal days, and it's a BIG birthday, I decided I would do it. So, I am planning and I want it to be full of fun and surprises. I've already told my family that this is my trip all about me and I don't feel silly or guilty about it at all. I have always gone out of my way to give them great celebrations and they are going to have to step up to the plate to do for me in return. Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I am not going to be shy about needing to feel celebrated. We all deserve to feel celebrated. So tell your family what you want and let them take the necessary steps to give you the birthday of your dreams. Don't get mad if they don't understand your hints. Don't hint....tell! :wizard: :cheer2:
