It's Transformers! (didn't see that one coming...)

I'm glad Universal finally announced what many people already knew or had a good idea about so I'm underwhelmed by the whole "major" announcement. I thought we would hear about HP2 and maybe some other things coming down the pike. I read another post on the DIS that stated maybe Universal didn't play it's full hand last night and I wonder if that's true? I certainly hope more announcements are coming in the near future.

There seem to be lots of things in the works right now. There are permits out for a bunch of things around Simpsons (possibly Moe's Tavern and Krusty Burgers and some small rides). The entire new London area in the old Jaws spot, the addition going on to the Wizarding World at IOA (most likely the Hogwarts express), rumblings of another attraction at IOA as well.

Yeah so let's hope more "major" announcements are coming...hopefully by the end of the year.

Not surprised ..I hate hate hate Transformers, but it is better than an empty/unused space

I'm pretty happy about the new ride announcement , I rode it this summer in LA , and it is much better than spiderman, newer, faster , better ;-)
Too bad it's not a coaster , that would have been the best option!

I actually went on the one in USH last summer and found it to be a big letdown. It was simply The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man without SM and Transformers instead. Even though I knew the announcement was Transformers, I am still disappointed.

not me:woohoo:love the spiderman ride and the transformers franchise (going way back to early days where i got hooked by my kids;) thru the movies)
:dance3:

that said, LOTR 'area' vs an individual attraction would be amazing but i'm still waiting for disney to roll out the villians park so dream on lol

Wow, been a while since I've posted on here. How is everyone??

We're super excited about the new attraction. And it was so neat to be at the announcement last night. Now that we live in the Orlando area (I know, we need to change our username) we'll be able to take part in all that sort of stuff. Looking forward to riding TF in the summer as well as other future new attractions!!!

Bro that's gotta be a whole park unto itself, and the Tolkien estate will likely never allow it. But yeah, I'd be all like

One does not simply take money to grant acess to Mordor.

the announcement said opening summer '13.

don't think it will be ready when you are there in early May.

I'm so excited for Transformers that I actually stopped lurking and registered! It only took a year! :)

Seriously though, I don't care that it's a near perfect replica of Spiderman because it is a new ride that adds to the total ride count and capacity of the park. This means shorter waits for the other rides when everyone mobs the new one, which means I get shorter waits on the Mummy! :thumbsup2

Oh, and you know...hello.:wave2:

Hello Sammy and I agree with you!

I'm not surprised. The Orlando Informer has already guessed that it would be Transformers. And Harry Potter is the rumor for the Jaws area.

Happy about both. :)
(Though I do miss Jaws)

There are so many rides that are technically very similar to each other, it's the theme-ing that makes them different. They need something like this in the Studios anyway, and really, would anyone rather an unused building?

good post with which to step into the darkside;)

I like that US is putting a lot of money into the parks, and I've loved most additions, but I'm underwhelmed by this. I just don't like the idea of them having, for all intents and purposes, identical types of rides in Orlando.

I'm sure it will be a fun ride, and I'll enjoy riding it, but can't help but wish they were adding something else that's different from what we've already experienced.
