It's Transformers! (didn't see that one coming...)

Bro that's gotta be a whole park unto itself, and the Tolkien estate will likely never allow it. But yeah, I'd be all like

shut-up-and-take-my-money.jpg
You and me both. I would almost give them my first born. ;)

There seem to be lots of things in the works right now. There are permits out for a bunch of things around Simpsons (possibly Moe's Tavern and Krusty Burgers and some small rides). The entire new London area in the old Jaws spot, the addition going on to the Wizarding World at IOA (most likely the Hogwarts express), rumblings of another attraction at IOA as well.
I must look into this. :magnify:

I'm so excited for Transformers that I actually stopped lurking and registered! It only took a year! :)

Seriously though, I don't care that it's a near perfect replica of Spiderman because it is a new ride that adds to the total ride count and capacity of the park. This means shorter waits for the other rides when everyone mobs the new one, which means I get shorter waits on the Mummy! :thumbsup2

Oh, and you know...hello.:wave2:
Wise comments - I agree!

The rumblings of a new attraction at IOA are pretty unclear but what I heard one day about a month ago was that a crane was spotted in Jurassic Park, but I've heard nothing about that report since. The other report and one that seems more credible is that either a Lorax or Grinch/Mt.Crumpet ride will be going into the Poseidon's Fury building further shrinking The Lost Continent. The Grinch ride has been rumored to be an indoor coaster which would be a winner in my opinion. The crane spotted by Jurassic Park may have just been there temporarily for something going in the construction area for the IOA Potter side. However given the amount of money that Universal has said they will spend in the parks in the next 10 years I wouldn't be surprised to see a new ride in Jurassic Park and for Seuss Landing/Poseidon building.

Are they rally going to do this?! The Transformers ride from LA is Spiderman - just with different characters?!

Why are so many not liking that they are doing transformers ride cause if it is anything like Spider-Man then it will be a great ride
Plus it's good that they are doing something new in the studios for a change

It will be the SAME ride if it's the Transformers 3D ride from CA. The rides are identical, the vehicles, the movement, everything. It's just that you're shown a different video as you go around.

They aren't the same, they are similar. The multilevel part of Transformers (read HUGE to scale size transformers) is not in Spiderman, nor is the layout the same. The pace is MUCH faster in Transformers and is much more photorealistic (as apposed to comic-booky).

I've ridden them both, and prefer Transformers.

The ride vehicles are the same, but it is a much better use of it than spiderman.

But mostly it's frickin Transformers! And done really well. That bumblebee statue out in front of the park this weekend is amazing. Spiderman is the best dark ride in Orlando, having two similar is not a bad thing.

No it isn't.

Some of the 3D and simulator gimmicks are the same but the rides are different.

Here's a comparison from Inside the Magic...

Once aboard the ride vehicle, comparisons are immediately made by anyone who has ever ridden the incredibly popular and groundbreaking The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride at Universal Orlandos Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida. Transformers: The Ride 3D is based on the same concept of a flight simulator on a track ride system that moves from giant projection screen to giant projection screen, immersing guests in large 3D-projected environments, with each screen seamlessly blended with real set pieces. But thats where the comparisons end.

Where most of the action of the Spider-Man attraction takes place in front of guests, the giant wrap-around screens of Transformers: The Ride 3D truly draw guests into the on-screen action, with high-resolution 3D images completely taking over the field of vision. Anyone impressed by the Spider-Man ride will be utterly blown away by Transformers: The Ride 3D, as scene after scene of non-stop action places guests at the heels of 40-foot-tall Transfomers battling just feet away. The rides introduction of Optimus Prime as he rides toward guests as a truck, transforms, slides to a stop, and stands up into full head-to-toe view, requiring guests to literally tilt their heads way up to see his face is a truly iconic moment.

In addition to Optimus Prime, familiar characters featured throughout the ride include Megatron, Starscream, Ravage, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Devastator, and many more. And Evac acts as a narrator of sorts, not only escorting guests on the adventure to protect the All-Spark but also verbally identifying Transformers by name as they appear, helping everyone understand who the giant metal robots are and whose side theyre on.

Not only is the use of 3D impressive in its size and ability to draw guests into the screen, but select moments reach outward as well, with characters landing on Evacs hood, reaching out toward guests faces, and even firing a warhead that results in a scream-inducing explosion producing real heat.

Transformers: The Ride 3D may at its simplest description be nothing more than a giant simulator attraction, but the on-screen 3D imagery is so incredibly crisp, clear, and realistic, not to mention enormous, that the rides relative lack of practical, physical props is not ever noticed while riding. Instead, Universal Studios Hollywood has opened a stellar attraction that now features the most impressive use of 3D in any theme park environment around, even topping the fan favorite Spider-Man ride that it draws its inspiration from.

Thanks damo the ride sounds awsome and hope its open next year when I go

I`ve never seen a transformers movie but I`m looking forward to this ride next year.

As if I needed another reason to visit Universal, but I love that they're adding MORE to the park and not just replacing. Also, I'm glad you no longer have to go next door anymore to get some real thrills. Bring on Transformers.

You say it's not but the folks I know that have done both say they're near identical. Okay so better graphics/newer footage but...

Even watching the on ride videos, you can see the same movements, down to something jumping on the car in the early scenes, to fireballs being thrown at you half way through, to the falling sequence at the end?

Same ride vehicles, same concept, similar plot, similar movements....sorry, just can't get excited. Universal has been at the forefront of groundbreaking rides - this to me looks like they've just given up and gone "oh hey, Spidey worked, let's stick another one in US"

If this was the only new thing going into the parks, I would totally agree with you. However, this is a BONUS e-ride, that isn't replacing anything, is being built very quickly and is still going to be awesome. We still have an entire new section going in where Jaws was that will most likely be new and cutting edge. There is more going up at IOA to expand the Wizarding World that is rumoured to be very cutting edge.

There are people on this thread who have ridden both and are still very excited for it. Any time we get a a new e-ticket ride, I'm going to be thrilled.

We've got Jurassic Park and Dudley Do-Right in IOA that are very similar but still each is lots of fun. Hulk and Dragon Challenge are very similar. Shrek and Despicable Me are very similar. At least they didn't decide to give us another Storm Force Acceletron!

It's a good fit, Universal is likely trying to incorporate a few less aggressive/mainstream rides to keep the HP crowd onsite.

Yes and they want the crowds to continue next summer instead of people waiting an extra year or so until new HP stuff is built.

This was a ride that they didn't need to do any R&D and that perfectly fit the bill. With a minimum height of 40", it is a ride that will be well suited for lots of families.

From everything I've seen/heard, this was NOT in Universal's plans at all, however they had an empty building that couldn't be used for anything else, had an extremely popular attraction in Hollywood and Singapore with one of the biggest franchises going right now, so they decided to spend MORE money to build it here.

Please, tell me, WHERE is the drawback?

Don't get me started on whether it's similar to Spiderman. Shrek and T2 are both 3D movies, but they co-exist within 200 feet of each other! Where are the complaints about that?

none of us "others" living in the Swamp can argue about Shrek:snooty:

He is the Fairy Tail Mafia, keeps the trouble OUT. :3dglasses

I'm excited about it, whether it's just like Spidey or not. However, from the description that the PP posted, it sounds like it's better than Spiderman. That sounds great to me because it's my fave ride at Universal. ♥

Ok so who has 2 thumbs and is super pumped about Transformers coming to Orlando? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 This guy!

Meanwhile, over at WDW, you can ride on the Astro Orbiter, or Dumbo 1 or Dumbo 2, or Aladdin's Magic Carpets.

That's FOUR of the same kind of attraction in ONE park and no one complains. :rolleyes1

i do;), although i'm sure i'll appreciate multiple dumbos when i have a small child in tow. The little mermaid ride will be a e-ticket type @ WDW, but not so much in DL. We rode it earlier this year and weren't overly impressed...apparantly neither were the other guests as it was walk on every time we passed it. It's cute, but wish they had done something 3-D perhaps to spice it up.:confused3 I look at spiderman and transformers as a happy medium between kiddie rides and white knuckle type.
