i was wondering about its tough to be a bug . i'm squeamish about real bugs !! are these real or cartoon. someone said they jump from the walls! that doen't sound fun to me if they look real!

You know, I started to describe the whole thing to you and decided that's not any fun, nor is it fair. Just know that there are no real bugs in the theatre and no real bugs will touch you. If it gets too realistic, just close your eyes, but it's lots of fun. Small children may not be too crazy about it, partially due to the darkness.

I'm very "bug phobic", but I enjoyed this show. Didn't bother me at all. :)

I won't say more than that... just take JRLATL's advice and enjoy!

The bugs are animated and cartoony-looking. A few of them are the same characters from "A Bug's Life". If you can take them in the movie, you should be able to take them in the theme park attraction.

don't worry about it. Just think about the other Disney 3d movies. Just special effects. Not that bad at all.

I am not bug phobic, so I can't help you there, but nothing drops down off the walls at you.

Technically - nothing drops from the walls, but black widow spiders do drop down from the ceiling during the movie!

Just thought Tassie should know - that one of the effects is "spiders - dropping down" on you. They do not come in contact with you, and if you don't look up you might not even notice them!

All in all - it is a fun experience!

We tried it for the first time this past December. Me and my 7 year old DD. I didn't bring my 4 year old as I had heard it was intense and had spiders etc...and she doesn't like even tame 3-D movies.

Well, let me just say it was pretty intense and my 7 year old was very very scared and she told me never again. She hated the spiders coming down and the smoke and the feelings you feel...

I didn't really enjoy it either and since I don't have anyone to do it with again, I won't be doing it again any time soon. I love all the other 3-D movies but not this one. There were a couple of cute parts but it wasn't worth it to sit through the rest.

Sorry but that's our opinion.

Also - there are seats in the theater that do not have the special effects. I would ask a cast member if those seats are available.

SPOILERS!!!!!

Depending on how phobic you are about bugs there is a scene (humorous for most of us) from a movie called "Empire of the Ants" where people are fighting off giant ants. The ants are real, just blown up to human size. This may or may not bother you.
There are a couple shots of flies and wasps that are real looking and while most of the animated and animatronic bug characters are cartooney looking, the black widow spiders (that descend from the ceiling after the theater is filled with fog) are real looking and about the size of a basket ball and there are 15-20 of them. It is a very exciting and well done moment with the fog and wind blowing around the theater, blasts of air blowing at you and loud sounds. In general that moment is pure pandamonium.

We just saw it Saturday, and didn't find it scary, though DD is only 1 1/2 and not really scared of anything yet, the boys are 9 and 10 and also pretty much beyond being scared of this type of thing. It was kind of cute, but in our opinions not worth the wait. It seemed very short. It wasn't crowded, but took longer to walk through the queue, get into the theater, and get back out again than the movie was worth, to us. We're glad we saw it once, but won't see it again. (Just our opinions.) The bugs are "cartoony" though, not really "real" looking at all.

I was a bit worried about it because I am terribly afraid of spiders, and both my DS's (having been stung many times) are quite afraid of bees and hornets. We had no problems though.

i just wanted to thank everyone who told me about its tough to be a bug! I'm still undecided whether i should see it or not. I guess i'll make up my mind when i get there. thanks for all the info especially those big SPIDERS!!!

It would be safe to say that my kids and I HATE bugs. None of us had a problem with TTBAB. It's actually one of our favorites.

My whole family found it UNPLEASANT...not particularly scary, but really unpleasant - akin to having your teeth filled - no one wanted to do it again.

This is one of those attractions I think you just have to experience for yourself, since the reactions to it are all over the place.

No one in our family likes bugs, and DH is pertrified of spiders (shh, don't tell him I said that), but we all laugh and have a good time. DD was just 4 the first time she saw it and did just fine.
