Its Time, Hockey Fans!!!

Good game for Calgary last night 3-0 in SJ looks like whoever can win a game at home will win the series mind you Calgary could win it in 7 and never win a home game.

OK, we were down 3-0 in the 2nd. We came back 3-2 by the end of the 2nd. I like our chances in this game for some reason....I don't know why though!!!

LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!

Adam aka Big Dude

Man oh man! I got to give credit to Khabibulen. Even after he gave up those 2 quick goals in the 2nd he never got rattled. He stood on his head for the rest of the game.

Well, it's do or die for my Flyers in game 6 tomorrow night. I will be there cheering them on.

Ah the Buhlin Wall he did the same to the Islanders and to the HABS Big Dude he has been the best goalie in the post season so far in my opinion. Should be a good game but I have a feeling the Lightning are going to the CUP finals for the first time ever and possibly for the last time as the TBay Lightning if the move is true.

Khabibulen was like an octipus last night on the ice. I think he had a couple extra arms and legs to help him out. WOW...I'm hoping that I don't have to use my ticket Saturday. I already have the Stanley cup final tickets in my hand. Flyers did play a good game last night also. Exciting game!

Live it up now Floridaminnie cuz this will probably be the last season you watch them in T Bay. Sorry to say but it looks like they may be moving to Indianapolis even over Winnipeg.

DSNY FN, Do you think a work stoppage will definatly happen? How about the proposed salary cap? For againest? High or Low?

Well from the guys that play in the NHL that i know there is no deal and no real progress so I am guessing there will be a stoppage the players do not want to miss out but the league and the NHLPA are just to far apart on terms to get aything really rolling. Honestly the players are pricing themselves out of jobs in the NHL they need a cap and it should be implemented. Alot of the older guys agree with this but the younger guys are against it from the info I have gotten. The younger guys are looking at it like hey I play I am a superstar you will pay me what I feel I am worth or forget it. Prime example is Roberto Luongo the goalie from the Panthers he has a year left on his current deal well after this season he is now telling Florida he wants to re negotiate the contract because he had a great year and wants to be paid on the same level as other elite goalies in the league. If I was the ownership in Florida I would be telling him well lets live up to the rest of your contract and see how you do next season then we will see about a pay increase one season does not a great goalie make. Just how I see things and how I would try and deal with it. Mind you I am here they are there and the owners will have to do what they feel is dfinancially feesable for them I love the game of hockey and would hate to see it stop but the salary thing has to start to come in line or we will not have any hockey to watch it will revert back to 6 teams because the rest of the markets will not be able to support a team.

Now that the TV deals are done, the NHLPA can see the value of the league to the American audience. I also can see the points of the younger guys..."hey, you older guys already got yours, we want ours now" attitude.

Yes, either the teams make money or have the good chance to make it or why would most of the owners bother? Some are wealthy enough to have trophy teams but the ones who currently can't compete sure don't. Well, the Rangers are ALWAYS the exception. :)

And I'm sure ESPN is disappointed in the Calgary-Tampa finals. I'm not though, these two teams should be extremely entertaining to watch. And what happened to all the trapping, big hulking teams? Speed kills in the NHL, always has and always will and both of these teams have it.

Good luck and may the series go a full 7 games because we the fans desire it!

I don't know about Original Six but the NHL should have stopped the expansion a LONG time ago. The talent seems so spread thin and the play much more mediocre than it was just 10 years ago. Is the proposed cap a soft or a hard cap? Will they have to stay within a dollar amount (for example not under $25mil, not over $35mil)?

I looked up the attendence records for the past 4 years. During the 03 and 04 seasons only 15 teams played to crowds over 95% capacity. In 02' that number was 13 and 01', 14.

The talk I have heard from the guys is it will be a set cap and it will not be based on one team over another it will be a set ammount taking into account that some teams are in very small markets. So it will be averaged out on a league total which I think may help some but hurt others. Look at Montreal they have a great city great fan base and they are having a hard time making money that is due to the fact they are the highest taxed team in the league. They pay on average 15 to 20 % higher taxes than any other team in the NHL. The young guys are not to keen on the new system they want to implement and the older guys are looking at what some of the younger guys are asking for in terms of salary and saying it has to stop they even feel some of their own salaries are a little excessive. So it just goes to show you haw they are all about the dollar and not about the game it seems anymore which is to bad. I would have played in the league for the fun of playing who cares about the cash that is really just a bonus to get paid to do something you love doing.

This is so true, expansion went rampant and diluted the talent pool. I am a pretty avid fan but there are a few teams I would have trouble naming five guys on.

I wasn't aware that Winnipeg had a chance to get a team back.

Yep Winnipeg has owners there that want to buy the Lightning and the owners in Tampa are looking at all options like Winnipeg and Indianapolis. Same with the Panthers they are rumoured to move to Houston or to Portland. There is also talk of a team going to Hamilton.

I would really like to see Winnipeg get a team again.

It's unfortunate that the IHL is no longer around because it would be so much easier to demote the Florida Panthers to that league.
