You two are taking me back on a trip down memory lane. I loved the old days. I remember watching my Flyers play host to the California Golden Seals at the Spectrum. And I must admit, my favorite hockey player of all time was a ...gasp....HAB! During a game at Madison Square Garden (as a young lad), I was hanging over the glass during pre-game warmups. I wanted a puck from one of the players real bad but no one even batted an eye. As the players were leaving the ice there was one player remaining. He was nice enough to loft a puck in my direction but alas, it went through my hands and I was out of luck. Not wanting to dissapoint a fan, this player skated over to me, swipped the puck up on the blade of his stick, took off his glove and handed this very grateful boy the puck. That is the moment that Yvan Cournoyer became my favorite player of all time.
I long for the days of Bobby Orr, Maurice Richard, Dave Schultz, Keith Magnasen, Tony Esposito, Stan MaKita, Bobby Clarke, Jean Rattel, the Mahovlich brothers and the list goes on and on.
