It's time for Maleficent to get to steppin'!!!!

I vote green because while the Joliesque one is gorgeous, the other one just seems so much more Maleficent to me. I can't totally put my finger on what it is, but the green one is much more interesting to me!

Thanks everybody for voting in the poll!!!! We almost have a 3 way split!! Well- Disney just released pictures of the new Disney Infinity 2.0 and it's not good news for the green one!! It looks like Joleficent is here to stay!!!!

UGH-- Looks like I'm buying Infinity 2.0. DD(8) is obsessed with the new movie and will go nuts when she sees Joleficent in Infinity. She is already asking for the dolls from the new movie.


I voted for both. To me they are totally different characters. We saw the movie this weekend and absolutely loved it. Our whole family absolutely loves the NEW Maleficient character. She is not the Maleficent that made me cower under a movie theatre chair as a young child watching Sleeping Beauty for the first time.

Little kids who have seen the new movie probably won't be scared of the new Maleficent. Little kids who have only seen the old movie might be more scared of the new one because she seems more real, but I'm pretty sure when she was little DD would have thought the old green faced version was scarier and more real because she looked exactly like the one from the Sleeping Beauty movie. I think she would have pegged the real faced one as a fake when she was a toddler, but would have been scared by the green faced one. (Of course maybe not as this is the kid who toddled up on her own to Jafar at age 3 for a photo while the Dad behind us was telling his scared 5 year old boy who was refusing a pic that if that little bitty girl would go up and take a picture with Jafar, that he was a big chicken if he was too scared to do it. )

At first I thought both were fine, but after seeing the movie I vote for the new one as I really liked what they did with her character in the movie. There is just so much more depth to the new one and I see M&Gs being more engaging with her.

I love the new one! I hate the chin prosthetic of the old one. They should have just hired girls with striking chins and let them paint their skin green instead of having to apply the piece. For what its worth I always found Maleficent in the cartoon to be quite attractive.

They were selling Maleficent glow horns at Sir Mickeys a couple of weeks ago. I also snagged this pair from Disney Movie Rewards with points.

Maleficent is supposed to be slightly scary! I finally got to meet her at Villains Unleashed, she was fantastic!

If I had to choose only one to stay around, it would be classic!

Both characters may share some similarities, but anyone who has seen the movie knows that they only share minor similarities and are completely different incarnations of Maleficent. The recent movie adaptation won't have the lasting appeal I assume.

Zulily has Joleificent costumes on sale today in both kids and adult sizes. The horns come with the costumes, but they also are selling the horns separarately. Zulily has some other cute villians merchandise today too-- they had lots of cookie jars- I recall seeing Hook, Ursula, Cruella for sure. I checked around and the Maleficient costumes arealso available for pre-order at Buycostumes.com and some other on-line costume places. Looks like Zulily is definitely the cheapest on the adult costume right now (the kids costume I found for pre-order for just a dollar or two more than zulily at other places), but since they don't do returns unless something is defective, if you think there might be fit issues, it might be best to pay the extra money to someplace where you can send it back if you don't like it.

DD(8) was going to join the ranks of the gazillion Annas for Halloween, but after seeing the Maleficent movie, now she says that is who she wants to be this year.

I might do a Joleficent / Maleficent hybrid.

I have an old sequin Maleficent tunic and my mom made me horns in the 5th grade. No one knew who I was! But I shouldn't have that problem this year!

I'm 24 now- luckily it was an adult costume so it should still fit lol

I'm thinking Joleficent horns and Maleficent tunic. I've got my MAC makeup so I'm ready!
