HI, You might want to find the POFQ thread - the first post here at the very top click, and it lists all the faq threads, and POFQ and POR are different (but sister resorts, so we can share pools, busses, but not check in)

also www.allearsnet.com is a great place to view pictures of the resorts, as well as reading any thread back a few pages - easies to 'search this thread' feature at the top click on it put in POFQ and you will get pages of replies to look through too!!

I requested the AB for 2 rooms adjoining. I am now trying to decide what building to request. 14, 15,16, 18 look pretty good. But, they all look really far from the bus depot. Is is just the map or is that really a long trek. It looks to me like that if you stay close to the bus you have a long walk to the food courts and vise versa. What do you think?

Although I have never stayed here, we have requested Bldg 14. It seems to be relatively close to bus and food court. Also keep in mind that an adjoining room is simply next door, where a connecting room has an inside door between the rooms.

Does anyone know where I could find juice at POR? I believe the unlimited drink mugs only offer coffee or sodas. My dd's medicine has to be mixed with juice or water. I know she will get tired of water. Any suggestions?

No problem there!!! You can find juice right in the food court at POR. As I recall it is located in the self service area of the food court. Also, the General Store (resort shop) has some cold beverages as well and I believe that they have juice.

i'm curious to know what the buses are like too. we will be there oct 1-5 and this is our first trip. a friend of mine stayed at por in june and said it took 1 1/2 hrs to get back from the parks and a least an hour to get to the parks. is it always like this?? any advice??
thanks
I can only relay my experiences (which have been almost entirely in Oct). We have not had many problems with the busses at all at POR. I will say that at closing of any of the parks, there is a mad dash to get to the busses and there is always a line. DH and I have learned that if we stay at any park until closing, we just take our time walking out of the park (maybe take some photos, shop a little, etc) and then slowly make our way out to the bus stop. Otherwise, the busses have always run smoothly for our trips. Once in awhile you may also encounter a full bus in the morning hours (especially for the EMH park of that day) but the bus drivers usually call for an additional bus to come and help if there is a backup. Have a great time - POR is by far my fave resort (just check my signature!)

Awesome! Thank you so much!

What is the best building in the Alligator Bayou to request other than 14 and 15? I heard those building have a lot of foot traffic around them. I was thinking 18 but then I heard that was the smoking building. Don't want that!! Any hint of smoking and my nose picks it up pretty good!! Yuck!!

Our children will be 8, 5, 5, and 9 months when we go. So we would like a short walk to main building and bus depot, but a little walk wouldn't kill us either!!!

Take a look at the resort map for a better idea of location of buildings - link is above. Keep in mind that the bus stops are marked as Dixie/Mason Platform is the main bus stop and then the next closest one in AB is the West Depot. Hope you have a great time.

Good morning, I have a question about the food court -- I was looking at the menu on Deb's site.....

Do they have fruit or bagels or cereal for a light breakfast?

Thanks!
Wendy

Yes, they have bagels and lots of other baked goodies in the food court at the bakery. There are lots of options for a lighter breakfast. There are also things like yogurt, fruit cup, etc. - you can even get like a side of something - like just eggs or bacon, etc. The menu on Deb's site is really somewhat of an overview of the available options at POR food court. Hope you have a great trip!

from Saratoga Springs Resort... How would I do that?

I know they are both in the Downtown Disney area but we won't have a car and need to rely on Disney transportation.

thanks

I would take a bus to DTD then a bus POFQ. I'm thinking about 30 minutes, but could be wrong.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Old Man Island spa closed for refurbishment 9/6/05-9/23/05.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia quiet pool closed for refurbishment 9/15/05-9/24/05.

Bummer :pug:

Sorry about that, DutchsMommy :guilty: We will be there Sep 23 to Oct 2, so it won't affect us.

I am bumping this thread for someone who is looking for infos on this resort.

I'll throw a question in. We're visiting Riverside in December and plan to drive through the night (10 hour drive). Our dd is 3 so driving through the night is the best option. I'm guessing we'll arrive around 6am or so.

Has anyone been able to check in early? Or is Disney stuck on the 4pm check in rule? We have never driven before so I'm trying to figure out the logistics.

Would love any suggestions.

From what I have read previously - it seems to be a real toss-up. We arrived on Sept 18th at about 10:30am and our room was ready.

I think it really depends on the season and how busy it is. It seems that they're happy to accomodate you if they have empty rooms that are ready to be occupied. But if they've got a full house and need to check people out first and then clean, you might find that you can't check in.

bump :bounce:
cause we will be there Nov 26 !! :cool1:

I have a question for someone who's been to POR recently. We are a family of 5, so we booked POR AB. My travel agent told me that we could not pick our building because there is only one building that still has trundle beds. Is she crazy?? Are they taking out the trundle beds as they refurbish? We will be there Oct 7-16, and if I can try to pick my building, I'd like some advice on which to pick. Thanks.
