Sorry if this is a repeat question....I am wondering first does the boat from POR to DTD cost extra? Also about how long is the boat ride? I called the hotel but the CM was not understanding my question:confused3

The boat from POR to DTD is free. I can't remember how much it costs. Someone who's been there more recently will have to answer that one. (I will be riding it again in October, though! )

The boat is free. Time it takes between POR and DTD depends on whether it stops at POFQ or not. The total time including a stop at POFQ probably is less then 15 minutes 'though. I don't remember exactly how long, but it is an enjoyable ride, esp. if the captain provides Disney trivia along the way. :surfweb:

No the Boat from POR to DTD does not cost anything. It's an amenity of the hotel. It can take apprx 15 minutes possibly 20 minutes depending on how busy the resorts are that is POR and POFQ ! I would say 20 min would be the max! It is a very nice ride at night to and from DTD. During the day it is also but seemed much more enjoyable at night!

Just popping in to read a bit. Our first stay at POR is 199 days away, now. We've stayed at CBR twice and loved it but wanted to branch out. We were going to slurge and stay at WL but there are only concierge rooms available already. Ouch. So instead we'll enjoy POR, our second choice. We've walked around it before and loved the themeing and landscaping. Hoping for a mansion room with a king bed, but don't mind AB side either - we spend most of our time in the parks anyway! Can't wait to take the boat to DTD, though - we like to hit Earl of Sandwich for lunch on our check-in day and that will be quite fun to take the boat and not have to find a parking space and then walk a mile to get to lunch! :)

You'll love the boat to DTD. Very relaxing and/or entertaining. :thumbsup2

A few quesitons for us newbies:

1) If we have requestsed a king room in the mansions, how likely are we to get one? (Are most of the king rooms in the mansions, for instance, or are they mainly in the AB section, etc.?)

2) The boats to POFQ don't start running until 9 am? So no chance of hopping a boat for an early breakfast of biegnets at the POFQ food court before a day in the parks if we get up early? If not, how long is the walk from the POR mansions to the POFQ food court? Would it better to just take our car (and save the walking energy for the parks!).

3) Any chance they sell biengets in the POR food court!? ;)

1) King rooms are at an extra charge, so you will definitely get one if you've paid for it. They are split roughly evenly between AB and Magnolia Bend though, so you stand a pretty much even chance of which area you will get. Requesting may help of course.

2) The walk to POFQ is only 10 mins, probably a bit less if you are in Parterre Place in the mansion buildings. It'd only be worth driving if you are planning to then drive onward to the park straight afterwards (saving the walk back to your room area).

3) Unlikely, sorry.

I know this is about food but I wanted to know if anybody has pics of the food from the food court at POFQ?

I have a question about the main pool on ole man island. How deep does it get? I've seen some pictures where it looks like kids are walking across it. My kiddos (5 and 7) LOOOOVE to swim so I was just curious. I've seen where some of the quiet pools go to 5 ft + so I didn't know if that was standard for the main one too. Thanks in advance for your responses. :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick response. We should be good, then. Sounds like POFQ is a much closer walk than I expected. We can certainly walk if it isn't too cold in the early a.m. to feel like walking without any coffee yet... :) It is a nice walk, after all.

Maximum depth is 5ft, but most of the area is a bit shallower than that. It starts with a stepped entry area which is the shallowest point.

The Magnolia Bend quiet pools go down to 5ft too, while the Alligator Bayou quiet pools go to 6ft. The quiet pools are probably best if the kids want to swim longer distances, while the main pool is great for fun swimming.

What is a beinget?:)

Ah...beignets... :cloud9: where do I begin other than a slice of heaven! :thumbsup2

All kidding aside, beignets are similar to doughnuts. They form a sweet dough into a small ball/oval and fry them. They are sprinkled with powdered sugar while hot. :cloud9:

I am looking forward to having some in a few days!! :woohoo: Hoping they are as good as Cafe Du Monde in the Quarter!

Again, only my personal opinion, but we LOVE beignets!!!

So where do get these at POR? Looking to use my snack and CS credits "wisely":mickeybar

Fried donut-type snack...we will probably need the extra walk to "earn" those calories!:) Then we'll do some:yay:

We plan to check out the pool, we'll look for them then. I haven't read about the French Quarter, what dining location is it?

Thanks!:)
