I know that requests are never guaranteed, but when we go for our honeymoon, if I request a corner room in the mansion section what are my chances? I know that in the summer when we are going the AB section is reserved for larger families...basically I don't want to be in AB section..it is not my thing I love love love the mansions. Also, I originally paid for a king room but am canceling it the money we save will allow us to eat at Victoria and Albert so it is worth it. However, have honeymooners had experiences being upgraded to king bed when they see/hear you are on honeymoon. Really I don't care what we get I just really want one of the mansions but was curious. Thanks

Generally the kings are given to those who pay for them. If, when you check in there happens to be a thoughtful CM at the desk, you MIGHT be given one but I would not count on it. You have NO IDEA how many folks try to get something special, be it for a birhtday, anniversary, honeymoon, etc. Each of these things is very special to the person experiencing it, but the desk does get over run with special requests and cannot possibly begin to make every one happy. I would suggest you change it back to a king request/reservation if that is what you truly want. I am sure you will get envelopes at your reception that would cover this and if not, you could probably downgrade at that point. I would hate to have you be dissappointed. This is a once in a lifetime honeymoon, afterall..........How many days are we talking about? If it is two weeks, that could be a big difference, but for less, I say go for it...Have a wonderful time.

Tinkfan10, We stayed at the POR AB section 2 years in a row and loved it. We requested 2nd floor, corner room, pool view the first year we went and got that room. The next year when we called they actually ask if we wanted the same room as last year! We got it again. We made the request with our travel agent when we booked and then she faxed them a few days before we left with our request. Good luck!

Thanks for your fast reply......I have been to Disney over 10 times growing up, but this is the first one on my own and my fiance's first trip. POR is my favorite we used to stay as a family when it was Dixie Landings. Our honeymoon will be for 10 nights and that adds up to around 500 dollars for the King :scared1: wow. Basically I am really wanting the mansion corner room, but didn't know if we might get lucky. I am not one of the crazed brides that will go crazy if i don't get room X in building y by the pool infront of the tree with the cute bird in it. :rotfl: I am pegging for Oak Manor or Terrace though past that I am easy to please.

Erm, it shouldn't be that much... $15 extra per night, for ten nights, makes $150 extra by my calculations. Are you sure about that price?

Andre

Sadly yes because we are going in June. If I am wrong great then I won't change it but the rate after tax $241.00 for a King/Water View and for regular it is some where around $190-204 a night after tax. The difference was about $40 this year and then I am planning for inflation when they raise the rates for 2009, that is how I got the $500.....I hope that I am wrong:confused3

That seems high to me as well. I would book it if it were me, but only you know your budget. have you looked at their projected rates for 2009? that should tell you...

When I booked the CM gave me the 2008 rate and said it would probably go up but didn't inform me as to what that would be. I have not yet canceled, am waiting for when I call back to book the package to save the phone calls. I didn't think the rates came out until late summer.

You're right, the rates might come out in July, but usually not 'til August.

My DS and I are 5 days out from revisiting POR. I have read that some of you faxed in requests, some called requests in. I did put on my reservation Mansions, Oak Manor, first floor near smoking area.

Should I call it in, or fax, or leave it as is?
Thanks

When I made my reservations for our upcoming stay at POR, I provided building preferences. Any idea how far in advance (if any) I may be able to call to find out what building we will get? My wife's family is meeting us there (3 rooms total) and I'd like to be able to give them (as well as know myself) what building we are going to be in before we get there if that is possible.

The Disney reservations rep. made it sound like the reservations (and requests) go to the resort about a week in advance. So I assume I can call them maybe a couple of days in advance but I still don't know if they'll really sort it out until the day we arrive.

I also don't really want to take the chance that somehow my request gets lost when the info goes to the resort and they have no idea about my request. I figure that is probably a slim chance but this is a big vacation for myself, wife, and her family and everyone is looking to me to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/info.

Did you already note youre request on your ressie? they can see this the entire time? Then you could fax 5 days prior and 1 day -2 days prior you could call to make sure youre request is showing on youre ressie still! It's never a gaurantee always just a request! :)

Yes, when I made the reservations they noted the preferences and I had to call back in later with an update so I know they have them in the system.

I don't want to bug them to death but I want to do everything I can (without being a pest as I realize they have plenty of people to deal with besides myself) to try and ensure our best chances of getting the preferences.

Possibly contact them about 5 days out as you said and then the day before works.

But don't forget that it's a request only. You won't know for sure until after you've checked in and been assigned your room. :surfweb:

 Just the other day I read the height requirements for the FQ pool slide, but cannot find it now :confused3

Anyone remember the restrictions or where I can find he info?

TIA! :)

Are you talking about the depth of the pool at the slide? It's about 2 feet deep if memory serves. If you're asking about restrictions for children, I don't think there are any. :surfweb:

OK, They will not tell you ahead of time what actual building that you are in but what you can do is get everyone's ressie numbers and have them noted on your ressie that you are traveling together and they will try to get you as close as possible to each other. Make sure everyone notes the others ressies on there ressie. It's not gauranteed it is just a request but they will do there best to get you near one another. As long as you have it noted you are ok! also when you check in if you don't get youre request you could ask if they have any availability in the section you requested? and see what happens.I always note it on my ressie and fax my request 5 days prior to departing then call a day before arrival and make sure my request is still noted! Past 2x's I have done this I have recieved my request!

1) King rooms are at an extra charge, so you will definitely get one if you've paid for it. They are split roughly evenly between AB and Magnolia Bend though, so you stand a pretty much even chance of which area you will get. Requesting may help of course.

2) The walk to POFQ is only 10 mins, probably a bit less if you are in Parterre Place in the mansion buildings. It'd only be worth driving if you are planning to then drive onward to the park straight afterwards (saving the walk back to your room area).

3) Unlikely, sorry.

Andre

Hi Andre

I tried to visit the resort in your signature, but was unable to access it - is it still active? portorleans.org.
