Does anyone know if there are coffee pots or hairdryers in AB? We are going with another family as a grand gathering and have requested connecting rooms (I know no guarantee). We will have our own cars, so would prefer to be in a building near a parking lot also near the food court/swim area. What building would you suggest?

AB has both coffee pots and hairdryers. :thumbsup2 Just make sure you plug in the hairdryer before you start cussing at it b/c it doesn't work. :rolleyes1 ;)

Hi Disney pals. I'm new to the boards. I've been reading about POR. Myself, hubby and two boys ages 6 and 4 will be taking our first Disney trip on 5/21 to 5/26. Have had 2 prior Disney trips before kids. Stayed off-site. This is the first trip staying on WD property. Looking forward to staying at the POR. Looks beautiful. Hope to be in the AB section. Have asked TA to request either bldgs 18 or 14. Keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'm more excited than my children to be going.

I didn't get the building I requested but did get bldg 16 which I really liked. I think if you get any building between 14 and 18 you'll be happy with it.

Can anyone answer this for me? I know there is no bus service between the resorts from POR. Which is the quickest way to get to the Polynesian and Contemporary from POR for dinner reservations. Should we take the bus to Epcot or Magic Kingdom and then monorail to the resorts. Or is it quicker to just take the bus the entire way. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know that it's the quickest way but my vote would be to ride the ferry from POR to DTD then take the bus to the other resorts. It may be quicker to do the monorail thing but the boatride to DTD is really nice. Also, as far as the bus from POR to MK or Epcot, sometimes the ride is quick and others not. Just depends on how many other stops the bus makes along the way since it's shared with Magnolia Bend and POFQ. The MK bus is usually the most crowded and several times DH and I opted to wait for another bus to come along.

TEMinnie, love the Llama :rotfl:
Get back to my TR! :lmao:

On the hairdryer note--I'm bringing my own next time! The one in the room was not near powerful enough for 3 females's hair drying needs each day!

BTW--a bus driver said they are fine-tuning the schedules and soon you will be able to go resort-to-resort. :thumbsup2

We just got back Friday from a 10 nights stay at POR:sad:  . Any questions ?

Welcome back! What buildong were you in? How was the resort? Did you swim (was the water warm)? I've heard the weather has been warm. How were the crowds in the parks?

We were in building 14:thumbsup2 (after a little sweet talk with the cast member)This resort, without a doubt, is a deluxe at a moderate price. This was our fifth stay at POR and not our last. The kids swam 3 times during our stay with mom and dad only getting with them once and yes the pool temp very nice even in the quiet pool. The weather was 72-82 everyday and not a drop of rain once until the magical express bus trip back to the airport. For the most part the crowds were very low at the parks we were able to do everything many times, somethings we did at least 6 times with the exception of soaring.

Yes. One.

Why didn't you bring me along with you???

:lmao:

Glad that you had a good time. I just love that place...

I can only come up with this answer; The last time you went I must have missed the invite:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:  . Maybe next time we will squeeze you in but I must tell you it will another 1386 days, I'm trying to cut another 365 days off of that number with some sweet talk to the DW: flower3: .

Nice to hear you had a great trip.
What time did you check-in and what time was your room actually ready?
How was the room?

We checked in at about 12:45 and the room was ready by 2:30.
The room was fine, a few things were different from our last time, but all in all the resort was great as always. I did have a problem at the check in with the so called concierge counter.:headache:

I saw that someone had asked this before, but didn't see an answer: are the trundle beds only available on the two doubles or can you get one with a king bed? We are considering POR for next May and DH and I cannot sleep in a double comfortably and DD will be almost 10 and its not easy to sleep with her either. So we would like to get a king for us and a rollaway/trundle for DD.

The pictures are fabulous. We stayed at POFQ in 2005 and enjoyed it quite a bit. POR is the only mod DH and I have not stayed in, so that is part of why we are thinking of going there.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!!!

yep... only available in the double rooms and only in the AB section.

Thanks for the prompt reply!!! I did not think you could get the trundle with the king, but thought I would ask anyway!! I really don't want to do two doubles with me sleeping with DD, but otherwise we have to try to get a king and a rollaway at the cost of an extra $15-20/night.

Still thinking about staying here though.......

Does anyone know how long it takes to walk over to the French Quarter. Is it too long of a walk for our sons, ages 7 and 5? We are going in May with friends who booked their reservation before us at POFQ. After comparing Riverside with French Quarter, we decided we wanted to stay at POR....looks too beautiful. I know there is a ferry that runs between the two. How often do they run and how long is the ride? Thanks so much. I sooooo can't wait to go!

There is a paved trail that runs along the river from the two resorts that is about 1/2 mile. Very casual walk, and if you do it early in the AM you will see little rabbits along the trail. The boat ride between the two resorts is about 5 min. long and the boats leave about every 15-20 mins. These are by far IMO the best two mods on Disney due to the water taxi to DTD. My preference in POFQ due to it being the closest to DTD by water and the small size. We stayed at POR twice in '06 and loved it so we stayed at POFQ this FEB. and literrally were a 2 min. walk from our room to both the front lobby and the same distance to the boat launch on the river. You can't beat that.:thumbsup2 :teacher:

Hello all!
I and the DH will be at POR the second week in Sept. I'd like to know more about the carriage ride. There's not much info. on the WDW site. What does it cost, how long is the ride, do you make reservations for it??? Give me some feed back, please. And in advance, THANKS! :upsidedow

We were just there and although we didn't do the carriage ride, I believe it was about $25 or $30 for a 1/2 hour ride. I don't think you have to make reservations for it. However, I never saw the carriages out during the day. I believe it was only from 6-11pm at night. We saw quite a few people taking advantage of it and they seemed to be enjoying it!

Nice to hear you had a great trip.

How was the room?

We got there about 1ish on a Wednesday and our room was all ready to go! (Stayed in Mansions-Pantere Place, right near the bridge that is closest to the luggage/arcade area).

How hard it is to actually get a King Size room in POFQ? Is it something you can just reserve up front like a water view?

I've only stayed Deluxe before and love the beds. Are the King Size beds comfortable at this resort?

TIA!
