Have a great time! My neighbor is leaving tomorrow (staying at Pop). I sent over some Disney cd's to listen to on the way down. I'll be wishing I was with both of you (sigh). Be sure to post pics when you return.

Thank you, I will! My DH gave me a new camera for my birthday, along with two 4-gb cards! Plus, I'm bringing along my laptop so I can download everything each evening. Who knows how many photos I'll end up taking!

Can't wait to see your photos! Hey would you do me a favor? I forgot to take a pic of the entrance. Where you first drive in and the walls at the begining of the driveway says "Port Orleans Riverside" Would you take a picture of that for me? :) Thanks! I want it for the scrapbook. I'm sure if I google POR I could find it too so if you don't, no biggie. :)

Have an excellent trip!!!!! I'm sooooooooooo jealous!!

Sure thing! I'll try my best to get it. I'll just put it on the list of things I need to do, and hopefully I'll get it done!

If I don't have a list, I'll forget to do it. If I forget my list, I'm done for! :rotfl2:

Sweet.

Don't forget about the Dis Photography Board (direct link in my sig) when you get back. Great photo threads, ideas and contests to be sure.

We just booked our trip, and we were going to split the time between the FQ and the CSR, but it would have been more expensive to do that, so we chose the FQ for the entire time...we did make the right choice, didn't we? We also requested building 5 because it looks like it's in a good location...Anyone have photos of building 5? I think I've seen almost all of the pics of the FQ (all but the ones on the picture board) and I don't recall seeing any specific pics of that one...

I like the size of the resort, the 'water taxi' to dd, and the overall theming seems quite nice (the double sinks are a plus too)...I can't wait! :cool1:

I only went to FQ for the pool, which my daughter LOVED! She wouldn't do the slide at Riverside but would at FQ, LOL

The buildings looked really nice and I had wanted to try the food court but time got away from us. I'm sure you will like it!

Hi - We're going to be staying at POR for the first time Dec 8 -15 and have no idea what area would be best for us. We will not have a car, so a parking lot isn't important. On the other hand, we don't want to drag our luggage on a 15 minute walk to get to DME either. Ideally, we'd be somewhere relatively quiet, close to one of the bus depots and not too far from the restaurants. We plan on using the resorts' restaurants mainly for breakfast only.

Another issue is that I have pretty bad asthma and need to stay in a building that has not been a smoking building and won't be near a smoking area.

Am I being unrealistic? Help!

Thanks!
Lara

we stayed in Parterre Place in July and it was very quiet. Less than 5 minutes to food court, restaurant and bus depot.
Never smelled any smoke in the room.

If you are staying in Riverside, building 14 is the closest to the main building for food and drinks etc. The main bldg is where you can get the riverboats to DD as well. You can also walk through the parking lot to get to the bus stop. You also can have a bell hop come to pickup your stuff and take you and the gear back to the main entrance after your trip. They load it all into one of those club cart things and away you go!

We were in building 18. It was nice and quiet, close to everything we needed. I never smelled any smoke in or out of the room. We very much enjoyed our trip there.

Hi Lara,

We just came back and I had requested building 14 or 18 in Alligator Bayou and when we got there I was pretty disappointed to find out I was in Acadian House in Magnolia Bend. I quickly got over that because this was fantastic! We were very close to the North bus depot as well as being a very short walk to the main island. The front bus depots are always very crowded and the buses usually picked up the farther depots first and then topped up at the front. We had a laundry room in the building right next to us and we were very close access to the main pool and for that matter the front lobby buildings. It turned out to be a blessing. As for the luggage, we had 5 suitcases and out carry ons so we called a porter an hour before we have to be at the front and they came and picked all of our bags up for us. The bell services were really nice. From what I know everyone tries to get into buildings 14 and 18. I ended up very happy with Acadian House.

Good Luck!

Christine

Thanks everyone! I am feeling a lot better about it. We've requested Magnolia Terrace or Oak Bend at the suggestion of our TA. I think we're just concerned because we have only stayed at Deluxe resorts. This will be our first time at a Moderate, only because there was no availability for a Deluxe on the code we were booking on.

44 days to go!

Just remember for the best seat on the bus going to the South depot is the first stop and your best bet on a seat.

But during slower times of the year may not matter.

We just got back early this morning (the plane landed at 1:30 am instead of 10:00 pm!). But to say we had a fantastic time is the understatement of the year.

We stayed in Parterre Place in Magnolia Bend. I loved the location. We were in one of the small buildings, just steps away from a quiet pool & laundry, and only a 4 minute walk to the main building/south depot. I'll be writing food & trip reports once we get settled back into normal life again, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
