Hi everyone! I stayed at POR in 2004 and loved it. I am just at the beginning of planning a new trip to WDW and was thinking of returning to POR.

However, having stayed at AKL during the last trip, I really liked that it was not so spread out and we were really close to the food court there, which was great for the refillable mugs. I was wondering what your experiences at POR were with regard of getting the room you requested? Last time I requested AB and got to stay in the Mansions (which we liked), but this time I would really want to be close to the food court!

So, from your experiences, how are my chances that this request would be honoured?? We are thinking about end of January, early February, so most likely not the busieset time at WDW.

When we stayed there last September I requested a room on the top floor ( just my preference ) and was able to get it when we checked in....in fact the CM that checked us in moved us to a room closer to one of the quiet pools so we could go down the stairs and be right there.:) Now we did check in very early ( though we couldn't get our room yet but we were able to get all the paperwork taken care of) so I am not sure if the CM would be able to take care of your requests if you checked in later :confused3

I saw another post that said the didn't find the quiet pools quiet during the day....but we did. Now we were there in the off season after most kids were back in school but it was during free dining and we found the quiet pools to be much more enjoyable people wise than the themed/larger pools.

I don't know if this helps but I hope so :)

We went to POR June 22 - 30 and here is what we requested via fax:

1. Trundle bed.
2. First floor room.
3. Building 27.
4. Former non-smoking room.

We received the trundle bed in the AB section and a 1st floor room. However, we were in bldg 18 which was a former smoking room. But it was a great bldg with location and no hints of smoke whatsoever. We really liked the location of this bldg! :thumbsup2

I have what is probably an easy question to answer.

What happens during check-in. This is the first trip that me and DF have taken without parents with us, and we are a little nervous because we don't know what to expect.

Also I am planning the trip but he is paying for it. Will they let me have the trip in my name? If not will I still be able to call and make the ADR's if the trip is in his.

The reservation should list both of your names :) You absolutely can call and make ADRs, you don't even need to be staying at a Disney resort to do that. :)

At check-in, the CM at the desk will go over your information, ask for payment type, put a credit card on your room keys, give you maps of the resort (they usually will circle where your building and room is located on the resort map), and point you in the right direction. They can/will give you park maps, schedules for each of the resorts (they list the times for that particular week), and can answer almost any question you might have :) They've always been very nice and very helpful when I've checked into a WDW resort. Don't be nervous, even if you just walk up and say "Hi, I'm here to check in", they'll take over and ask you what info they need, and you can just answer. :)

Have a great time!! :sunny:

P.S. If you have made building/location requests, you can ask if they've been listed on your reservation. The CM will look to see, and then at that time you make sure that your requests are being taken into account when she assigns a room to you.

Hi. Getting ready for a week at POR at the end of Sept. Just curious about the butterfly thing. I read something about it a couple of years ago, but have not seen anything about it recently. Does it still exist?

Did anybody see microwave around food court? Because I have a small kid,
I sometimes need to warm up some food...

I appreciate any info

Hi everyone, I will be traveling with the family to WDW in mid. September. For our second stay at POR:cool1: . I booked at the beginning of this year, however I did it all online. I received confirmation, and of course the invoices. However I have not gotten anything since mid April. I am getting nervous mainly because I booked a package (Flight/Room/Dining/Tickets). And again have not heard anything as of late. When dose all the other info usually come?:confused3 I only have about two months before we leave. And its been a few years since our last trip. Any help/ advice would be great. Thanks!

i got my info like this -

magical express 45 days out
rest of documents 32 days out.

hope that is helpful.

I'm sure you can call them and inquire about it.

That's great, thanks! I was hoping they didn't forget about us. :thumbsup2

Hi,
I've seen plenty of maps of the entire resort area, including FQ; but I have not seen any floorplans for Riverside. Does anyone have the floorplans of the mansions at Riverside? I'd love to see them.

Thanks!!!

Hi Pixiedust!:wave2: I do have that one, but thank you. I'm trying to find floor plans like the ones that we have for the DVC Villas. I know there aren't studios, 1BR's and such, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Someone might have taken the time to put it together. Everyone is so helpful here on the DIS!!!
Thank you!:)

TINK03477- Do you mean a diagram of the building with room numbers on it? Like when you're picking out your cabin on a cruise ship? I think that would be very helpful.:)

:thumbsup2 That's exactly what I'm talking about! You can also find the same type of plans here on the DIS on the Villas. I've used them for the Beach Club lots of times. It helps you pick what kind of location you might want to ask for when checking in. Although the villas are more descriptive, like balcony sizes, room sizes, HC or non-HC, studio, 1BR, 2BR, what floor and facing what views. Extremely helpful. :goodvibes
Thanks!!

Sorry, somebody might ask this already...

At Rivermill, do they serve regular shape waffle or Mickey shape?
