aaaahhh, yes. The ever elusive, yet highly popular manchant room. This room is not available in the "Alley, Gate or By You" section (say it fast). :rolleyes1

I can't believe it is 19 days :yay: to our first WDW family trip. I haven't been on the boards in a while. I was quite obsessed with them in my planning process, then I had to take a break. I started to get bubbly excited this week and decided to hop on again. I can't wait to see my kids' faces when we get there. I've been talking up the World to them and they seem excited, (not as much as me), but I really don't think they know what they are in for. This is their first time there. Hubby and I have been there a couple of times before but never stayed on Disney property and we've never had a full experience of the theme parks. We'll be at Port Orleans Riverside. My boys birthdays' are in April & May and even though we won't be there on the exact dates, I'd like to do something small. Any ideas? Should I just let the resort know? We do have a couple of character meals planned. Regardless, I know it will be a blast for all of us. I can't wait to be a kid again...(yes a 40ish year-old kid  ) It's going to be GREAT!!!! :woohoo:

 Yea, for you!!!!!!

Yes, let the resort know. I don't know what/ if they'll do anything but it won't hurt to ask. We are going in Sept. and it will be my DD's birthday on the day we arrive so I am planning on telling the resort. We are staying at the POR too.
I am also in my 40's and our first Disney trip was 2 years ago. I was more excited than my teens then and now. :confused3
I'm really excited for my DGD. She was only 2 last time and she'll be 5 this trip so I know she is just going to be beside herself when we get there. princess:

I think part of the joy now is watching my kids' faces and how happy they are at Disney :)

I am 62 and still get teary eyed as I see even my husband's face let alone when we took the 4 yr old Grandson on Peter Pan and he looked up at me and said, "Grammy, we are flying". Have fun.... Enjpy every minute.

we love staying @ POR! your boys will probably love the slide at the main pool. our dd did and my dh. i love walking around the grounds too. we did the kayaks and the horse carriage there. there's little ducks walking around everywhere. i love riding the boat taxi to dtd especially at night. your kids are going to love it!! you are going at a good time too. it shouldn't be too crowded and the weather won't be so hot. be sure and get the b/day buttons for them. we wore ours everyday of our trip and we always got something.
have a magical trip!

im thinking of doing a carriage ride, and also the searaycers when we are down there. i know we have to make reservations for both...my question is can i make those before we get down there? or do i do that when we arrive in wdw?

I would highly recommend calling and reserving in advance. I reserved our carriage ride three months out and there were already times taken/not available. I'm not sure if this falls under 180 day or 90 day ressies though. I just know from my experience, they do book up in advance. Good luck!

Does anyone know if you can bring drinks from your room to the pools? What about "adult" beverages? I have a feeling my poor husband is going to need a break from FOUR females since he is only use to two of us (we are bringing my two nieces)! :rotfl2:
I would assume if anything is allowed, it would have to be in cans (cokes) or cups. Any past experiences are appreciated! :goodvibes

Absolutely allowed. There is a bar at the pool or you can bring your own. We went with my Sister in March and every night we brought a bottle of wine to the pool with us. I've seen people bring beer as well.

They understandably don't like you to sit in, or right next to, the pools with drinks in hand - especially with glass containers.

It's not a salad bar in the traditional sense. YOu go to the counter and let them know what you want in your salad and they make it to order. They also have a pasta station where you do the same thing.

I LOVE that pasta!:thumbsup2 There was a lot to choose from, IMO. Plus, you get soo much- my DH and I usually had to split it!

What we did one night was get a cool bag with lots of ice and stored the cans in there. Kept them nice and cool.

Do the private pools or the main pools close at a certain time? When I go for my honeymoon I thought it might be nice to be able to go down and unwind after the park for a little bit, or even the nights that we have an easy day and after dinner we want to stay at the resort and relax.

When we went last year we quite often swam in the quiet pool until after midnight. It was a lovely way to chill out but it was busy.
