Its taken me awhile to get up the nerve to post this, but..

Glad to hear you have a wonderful, supportive family. Hugs to you and your girls!

I haven't read everything.

As far as pension you may be out of luck there.

I knew someone who had her husband walk out and divorce her. He was a full colonel. She could not touch his pension. When he retired she got nothing.

My friend was married to her hubby for only six years and they were seperated the entire time she was in and if she stayed in, he would still get part of her retirement. That's why she did her 6 years and got out......

Exactly why you need a laywer who knows military family law-because in most states in a marriage lasting more than 10 years the spouse is entitled to a portion of the service members retirement. My guess is in this case the marriage was too short or he had a better lawyer.

They were married for a lot of years. I suspect what has happened is the law has changed. At that time she couldn't get anything. He died a long time ago.

She still gets military health benefits. If anything make sure you don't lose this. Just getting this puts you in a lot better situation than others.

You talked about how he put you in this position, don't let him continue to do so. Talk to a lawyer NOW. Don't wait, get one going - take their advice, and do what needs to be done so that when he gets back you've got the upper hand. He isn't going to "tell" you what you'll get. No sir! You and your children have a right to the life you had before the jerk walked out on you. Please don't wait - contact a lawyer before going to your mothers.
