Day 2, Part 4: "Want a balloon animal?"
Alright, so when we last left off (two months ago, eek!) Marie and I had just met Dug and Russell, who were completely lovely.
Now that we'd finished that, we set off to see It's Tough to be a Bug. When we'd gone in Nov. 2012, we hadn't seen it just because we hadn't wanted to. This time around we were determined to try some new things.
The best part of It's Tough to be a Bug is walking into the entrance and seeing all the carvings in the Tree up close.
We got to go into the section for people with wheelchairs, of course. Really it's a whole different experience to do Disney this way and not always in the best way. I got the option to transfer to a seat, so I ended up doing that for the show to get the full experience.
First though, here's Marie and I in our bug eyes
The show was interesting, but I'll admit not my favorite 3-D show that Disney offers (which is still and will forever be Mickey's Philharmagic). Marie was super not a fan though. She got really scared when the spiders came down and kept shaking her head and hiding her eyes. She's a keeper.
After that, I was getting super tired. I'd grown used to naps and while I wasn't walking around, doing stuff was still exhausting (something I have yet to grow out of). So, we decided to leave. However, I forgot to say in my last update that we'd run into the super nice CM Amanda, (the pin trader from Pooh) who was on the college program while waiting for Dug and Russell. Not only had she remembered us, but she specifically stopped by when seeing us in line to offer us another chance to look at her new pins! What a sweetheart!
Given how sweet she'd been to us, we went back to Guest Relations for the THIRD TIME that day and stood in line all over again. I know, it's crazy. But with how sweet she'd been, we definitely felt like we had to stop and give a good review of her. I hope that she ended up getting it in the end because she was just a sweetie. She totally deserved to get recognized for it.
With that done, we moseyed on out of the park and got in line for a bus.
It's super sucky to share busses. I mean, we usually left in times that weren't too busy so it didn't matter that much, but still, I missed the days of POFQ where no matter when we traveled, our buses were always nice.
I was getting bored waiting for the bus, so I snapped a couple of pictures. Most turned out bad.
As you can see, there are crowds everywhere
Finally, we caught a bus back to the resort and we had to go fix the mess with our annual passes/magic bands. Marie chose to get the money just taken off our room bill (which was currently zero) so essentially, giving us the $45 to spend at a later time.
While she was doing that, the concierge people were bored and one started to make balloon animals right in front of me. It was pretty awesome, the girl joked, "If my mom could see what my student loans are going toward now..." and I laughed as well. She noticed me and asked if I wanted to have the balloon animal.
OF COURSE I SAID YES! I mean, who turns down a balloon animal? Not me. That's for sure. I don't even like dogs and I kept this little fella.
With our magic bands sorted out, we took the trek back to Broadway building 7, the whole time wishing that we'd just shelled out the money for a preferred room. Ugh. Such a hike when you don't want to do it. Not to mention the burning sun and poor Marie having to push me the whole way. She was such a trooper, I don't know how she did it.
Luckily, our room was empty (spoilers?) and we got settled in to do some relaxing.
And by relaxing, I mean, I wrote in my trip journal (which I forgot in Michigan currently so this isn't as accurate as it could be
) and Marie looked over our bows to see if they were all there.
Here she is checking off bows as she goes along. Note the Pooh Bear blankie, which she made for me in the hospital and I have an irrational attachment to as I've used it all throughout treatment.
Also, note the bears on the bed. The bears go with me everywhere. The brown one is Mariebear and the light one with clothes on is Ambear. They were created so Marie and I would always have someone to hug when the other isn't around. Milobear is the naked one, which Marie got me during her first trip to meet our good friend Eli (who will be joining us in MAY!
) and then there's a Pooh Bear holding a Piglet that my inlaws got me who has been with me since I woke up in the hospital. The Mousekeepers always made sure that they were comfortable and well taken care of
Here are the pins I got that morning. Marie is still jealous about Carl.
And here are Marie's two pins she got.
Once Marie counted the bows, we realized that we'd gotten an extra one we didn't order. So we texted Hayley to tell her about the bow and promised to bring it with us when we'd see her that night.
Now that all of that was out of the way, it was finally time to start the real relaxing
