It's really busy at DL

Don't know if it's because of weather, but it's very busy at DL today. Touring plans was way off. Even Winnie ride was 25 minutes earlier. Also, it didn't help that many rides kept on shutting down. Like Indy, Winnie, Matterhorn, Casey jr., Mr toad, etc. It's not quite as bad as.christmas week but close.

Only saving grace was magic morning, which allowed us to get on rides quick versus 30 min or more.

Wow! I wonder why...this makes me nervous for our trip next weekend!

Looking at my DL app from the comfort of home - Haunted Mansion 90 minutes, Space Mtn 85m, Radiator Springs 240m, Soarin' 70m, Roger Rabbit 60m, Splash Mtn 70m, Star Tours 100m, Toy Story Mania 75m.

Yes the security lines went all the way back to the parking structure this morning. That is the longest I have seen so far. It only took about 10 minutes to get through thankfully. Getting in the parking structure was easy though.

We left around 12:30 because it was getting so crowded. 60 minute lines for Pirates, Spash and Haunted Mansion all well before noon. Indy went down a few times while we were there. Star Tours was having issues as well.

We were able to ride quite a few things with fast passes and our only wait was Pirates for 10 minutes. Still worth it :)

It is a beautiful day today in sunny Southern California! The first Saturday in a while and people came out to play at Disneyland in droves!

I am back at the hotel. Too crowded. We will go back for the parade, we did aladdins oasis, so we have reserved space. I had a reservation at blue bayou, but I called to cancel, because I didn't want to go back to that mess, and the reservation was too early and we wouldn't be hungry enough anyway. The cm on the phone was nice enough to cancel without a cancellation fee, she had to check with her manager.

Last thing we did was Mickey and magical map. The seating area was about 90% full by my approx.

The things we didn't do today that were in my plan were

Casey jr... closed for a lot of morning, and by the time we got back to it later,it was a 30 minute wait, and no way am I waiting 30 minutes for that.
Winnie the Pooh.. closed when we got there, and it's just too out of the way to go there again.
Royal theater... my son didn't want to go there for some reason, plus the line was way too long by the time we got there.
Mickeys house, line too long 10 minutes after toon town opened, more than 15 min wait.

I will be in DL tomorrow and DCA on Monday, if it's like this on both days, I may cry.

We managed to get most of fantasyland except Matterhorn and Casey, most of toon town except Mickey. We did haunted mansion, potc, and Indy, and btmrr.

Tomorrow is tomorrowland and Matterhorn.

Touring Plans is usually wrong. It's always crowded at Disneyland. Especially since it has been very rainy the past two months. This past few days of sunshine has been the longest stretch of good weather in months. Tomorrow should be especially bad with the lower passes free to visit. And Disneyland is now offering the Socal resident special which I have not seen in years. This entire week of good weather should be very crowded.

But that doesn't mean you can't have a great time. You just have to plan more and bring more patience with you when dealing with the hordes of people.

Good point about socal tickets. After all, that offer got me to be here to begin with.
I have no problem with Disney crowds, but this was near Christmas week level crowds, which was entirely unexpected.

I also think the return of MSEP last weekend is drawing in the crowds. Good luck to everyone that are in the parks this weekend!

Would you expect it to be crowded during the weekdays as well? We are going 2nd week of February and hoping, of course, that it will be less crowded.

I wonder if this is a factor. I remembered reading this note in the calendar portion of the MousePlanet update the last few weeks:

  • "Use it or lose it" weekend – January 28–29. Our designation for the final weekend of January, which marks the deadline for cast members, community groups, and Club 33 members to use their remaining complementary admission tickets from the 2016 allocation.

I generally agree that it is usually crowded, BUT I went last Saturday and it was SO uncrowded for a Saturday and the weather was gorgeous. However, it was the one nice day surrounded by rainy days so maybe people didn't want to take a chance.

We were going to go today but glad we decided to run errands and do chores instead. I can't stand huge crowds!

Less crowded than a weekend but still very crowded. Also reduced hours during the week days so thats working against you. Disney wants it crowded every day. It's all about the $$$$. But with smart planning you can still have a great time.

I would love to hear how big the reserved space was for the MSEP tonight down by IASW. I keep reading reports that the area is much smaller & we are doing it next Friday! :/ Any advice you have about how early you had to get there to get a decent spot & where with pics would be great! TIA :)

This was the first nice day we've had in a while. It was 72 degrees where I am and I am assuming similar at Disneyland since we're usually a little cooler than there. Plus, MSEP is back. I expect it to be even worse once RDTC comes back. This is Disneyland now. I'm glad we went last weekend. It was freezing, but it was the least crowded I've seen it in years on a weekend.

I'm taking my mom for a trip in 2 weeks. Keep up the reports on the crowds. I'm curious what we'll be in for. She has a physical disability and we're trying to decide if she should just bring her cane or wheelchair. The wheelchair is a beast when it's packed.

I'm in the reserved space, it seems pretty large
I got here about 1hour 15 minutes before parade starts. It's getting crowded now with about 45 minutes to go. Sorry can't take pictures, don't want to leave area.

Wow, they just announced that all viewing areas in the park are full, and ask people to wait for the second parade. I've never heard them say that before.
