It's Prom Time!

ahhhh....your schools still hold Prom at your schools.

They haven't held Prom at our school (I went to the same school as my DD) in at least 25 years...I would have to ask my mom or uncles (the school is a family legacy:rotfl:) about earlier.

This year it's at the Denver Art Museum. Cassidy's freshman year (she went with a senior) I think it was at a Lions hall because the planning committee didn't get it together soon enough for some of the spots. This year has changed venues a couple of times...the DAM should be beautiful though.

I look forward to the Prom thread every year and all the nice photos of your DD's and DS's :goodvibes!! Having had 3DD's and a DS, I have fond memories and miss all the prom/college formal excitement of shopping for that perfect gown, jewelry, shoes, doos, tux, flowers, limos, etc. Thx all, I feel your excitement and am enjoying the wonderful flash back!!

Nope, My DD has been to 3 different high schools and none of them had the prom at the school. The Grand March was at the auditorium in town where the prom was held. This year her prom is in Downtown Ft Worth somewhere.

all right...I wonder if it's a regional thing then??

I just called around about tux prices and they seem very reasonable! They start at $95 and go on up, but I'm sure knowing my son he won't want the $95 one.

Now the trick is going to be getting him to go order it. I'll either take him myself or send him with the girlfriend. She'll never forgive him if he gets a pimp suit. :lmao:

We could never had done a Grand March at our school. We had over 700 people in my senior class.

People actually have prom at the actual school? I thought that was something that was only shown on TV. Even my moms prom was offsite back in 1966.

They did it at my DD's school last year and they had that many kids in her class and it was a Jr/Sr prom. It did take a couple hours, but some kids didn't do the Grand March, and not everyone stayed and watched the whole thing.

I don't think many schools have the proms at the actual school.

Cassidy's boyfriend STILL hasn't ordered his (it's 2 weeks away):scared1:

The 3 guys wanted to get white tuxes...Josh was told not to get white....it would look silly against Cassidy's black.....now I think she would be happy if he's not nakey:lmao:

For those of you with sons who rented a tux, did you get the long tie or the bow tie? It seems like the long ties are the in thing now, but my son really wants a bow tie. I'm just curious since this is the first time renting a tux, I've always been on the girl end of prom before! :)

My son got the long tie, but I'm not sure what other boys are doing. He also went with a black shirt.

Regarding proms in the school -- ours is going to be out of town, but the Grand March will be in the high school auditorium. That ought to be fun. All those parents and students fighting for parking at the high school, then the kids taking off for the actual prom. :scared1:

I am not sure what DD's boyfriend ordered....other than a vest not a cumberband....my guess is bow. The other time she went the boy was also bow tied.

I will tell you that she hangs out with the music kids so most already have bow ties. So they go with what they know.

DS #2 is attending his junior prom this year. This will be our third at this school and they have all been held in the gym at the school. Sometimes they go out of town (on busses) for after prom, but this year we are doing laser tag in our other gym.

It's a small town - small school.

My son went to the prom 2 years ago (he was a senior).

The long ties were very popular - but he ordered the classic "James Bond" tux with the bow tie.

He looked really nice - the guy at the tux store told me that my son had very good taste in tuxes.:)

Our prom was last weekend. Here is my dd before her date arrived.

Beautiful Jodi!!

Love her hair:goodvibes

The dress is very pretty

JodiR-Stunning! Makes me wish (for the first time) that I had a daughter.

I'm a little late to the party here, but DS, in 10th grade, was just invited to a Sr. prom at another school. He's pretty casual about it, but I keep telling him that he (WE) has work to do. He's not even "sure" of the date. I feel stupid nagging him about HIS event, but no kidding....he'll tell me on a Wednesday that he needs a tux for Saturday! :headache::headache:

Any advice on how to make sure the kids are being safe when the big event is at another school, with families you don't really know? I'm struggling with this. If it was our school, I feel I'd have more control, more knowledge, you know?

I love all the pictures. We didn't have such fabulous dresses in my day. We had dopey frilly stuff, not these sleek, classy gowns. Or maybe I don't remember.

Oh Jodi she looks great! I LOVE her hair! I am trying to do that on my dd but she is not having it(she's only 11 so I think I can still make her!:rotfl2:) I am loving the prom stories. I hope she has fun.

All your kids look just beautiful!! I'm so sad my Sr. won't be going to prom. I miss not having these pictures. He has a girlfriend, but she's 16 and her dad won't let her go to the prom.

Her dad is a really meanie, but that's another story. I feel bad for my son and of course for her.

Keep those pics coming, I'll live vicariously through you all!! My dd is 10 at least I have no doubt at all she'll be going to prom!
