It's Official - No more DVC discount at the Disney Store

My wife just returned from the Mall and she got the discount at TDS in Salem, NH. I agree that the pickings are pretty slim but she found a pack of underwear (Nemo, Monsters Inc, etc) for my 2 YO DS that is close to being potty trained. Hopefully this will be the incentive he needs to push him over the hump.

I had gone a few weeks ago and they would not honor my DVC card because the items that I was purchasing were already on "sale". The CM was quite rude about it when I asked when this happened because I had used it not too long ago on sale items and she just said that that was their policy. Their computers could not put a discount on top of a discount. Needless to say, I walked out without purchasing the items because of her attitude.

I hate to hear stories like this. You should have received your discount.
:earsgirl: :earsboy:

American Scrapper and AllyBri.... there was a recent sale that was 30% off of already reduced merchandise. They did not allow the 10% DVC discount with this sale. It was one of those sales where you could not combine discounts. I agree that you should not have been given an attitude though!

No. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed as Walt Disney World locations. :(

Thanks...figured it would be too good to be true!

I normally shop at the one at the Christiana Mall in Del-a-where?! ;)
BTW, love the Steeler's sigs!! They're my team!!

my daugher loves loves loves, the princess nightgowns, and when theyare on sale saving the ten percent wont really matter to me when they are about seven dollars.

You used to be able to buy Disney Dollars with your gift cards. Don't know if that's still true, but it's worth a shot. Then you can spend your Disney Dollars at WDW.

I understand that the Dinsey Stores can be inconsistant sometimes with the DVC discount, but the 10% is definitely still in effect. We have received plenty of official notices about what we give discounts on and what we do not and DVC is difinitely still valid.

How do you guys find anything to buy there? I find the merchandise to be useless!

I used to buy cute clothes for myself there. Not any more. The kid stuff isn't too cute anymore either.

We stopped in yesterday and last week and got our DVC discount both times. I won't go in to detail, but being a former cm I am extremely dissapointed with the way the stores have gone. Having said that we bought the Incredibles (pre-order) for the lithos and I got DH a stitch shirt yesterday for $4.99. The CM didn't know how to ring the DVC discount, even after I told her exactly how to do it on the register!!! OMG!

Thanks for the tip! I'm planning on going Tuesday and I'll see what I can find out!

Well I went into my local store today and used my dvc discount with no problem. I talked to the manager and asked if it was they where sold. He told me yes(obvious) and they have been sold for couple months now. He went on to tell me that he doesnt see any of our discounts being taken away becasue according to the sale, the new ownership groupe is just using disney name and selling all there merchandise basically for them. She went on to tell me my local store is going to close in couple months for the store to be changed and made bigger.. :cool1:

It's on the member website that it's no longer available, it's just a matter of time before word filters down to the stores. Get it while you can!

Perhaps DVC can no longer guarantee that TDS will honor the 10% discount because it is no longer under Disney ownership and control. Thus, the disclaimer on the website. If DVC members start having trouble using the discount at the TDS, DVC doesn't want members complaining to them or Disney since it is beyond their control.

However, if TDS chooses to continue to give the discount to DVC members or any one else, hey, more power to them.

For those that can actually find something to buy at TDS, I agree that it's best to hurry and take advantage now because it can be pulled at any time.

Listen . i work for a major corperation named comcast. When a change happens, it doesnt take months to make it happen through out every comcast office in the 42 states they are in right now.. One email goes out to dept heads and it is taken care of. Yes it may stop any time since disney is not in control of the there stores, but think about this. Would the new ownership tell there dept heads to stop something that allows a membership of many thousands of people a 10% discount? Its 10cents on one dollar off..
