It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Here again, even though you identify with her decision to go back to work, that actually doesn't mean you two are the same person. You didn't have the benefits of an elected Lt. Governor to delegate to, nor did you have the benefits she has as a state employee.

There is a bit of a difference here. She chose to go back to work and leave her special needs child after 3 days. Whether or not she worked full days, half days, or one minute, the advertising the fact that she immediately returned to work is what doesn't sit well with -me.- She had a baby in April that is special needs. She will be running for VP for the next few months. She will be resigning as Governor to take the position of VP, possibly.

If the Lt. Gov is good enough to take over from her when she is elected VP, why is this person only ok to take over for 3+ days when Palin had a child this past April?

YMMV.

She didn't leave her "special needs" child to return to work. She took her baby with her. I know there are many Mom's who are able to balance this. With this being her 5th child, obviously it's not her first rodeo.. (BTW do Downs babies have more needs than a non-Downs baby at that age? I don't know.)

Yes, they have problems eating and breathing at the same time, among other issues like birth deformities (heart defects, etc).

And I haven't seen anything stating kiddo came with her. Just that she returned to work after 3 days.

That's not necessarily true. Some have health issues....some are as healthy as anybody. We are truly blessed that my brother does not have any health issues. I also have a friend whose Down's son is training for the triathlon for Special Olympics. He's quite a remarkable young man.

Did these children start life knowing how to eat and breathe at the same time, or did they learn to do so because they had great therapy in the hospital?

ETA: Here's an article from American Family Physician to refer to for more information.

My guess is that if he came home right away (which he did) that he wasn't having any of those problems.

I slap my own face? I don't think so. I think you WANT it to apply to you so you could make the valid complaint go away, because you could play the Mommy Wars card.

Did you have a special needs child? Did you have enough vacation time to cover your time off? Did you have a duly ELECTED official who was ELECTED to take your place if you needed to step away?

If you did not have all of those criteria, you're just wanting to get upset to counter my argument.

It seems you are the one getting upset, not me. I have no problem with her going back to work 3 days later, because like you have mentioned in another post, you don't know if she took the baby to work with her or not. You don't know if a nanny experienced in caring for children with special needs was hired. You don't know if the father stayed home with the baby. It all boils down to she should have stayed home because she was the woman. If it were a man, it would not matter whether or not he went to work 3 days later.

If that is the worst the Dems are going to come up with about her, then they might want to start focusing on the issues.

From this article:
"Three days after giving birth, Palin returned to work in her Anchorage office, accompanied by Trig and her husband.

This was not a mother's typical visit to the office to show off the new baby; instead, she was serving notice that a child of special needs will not hinder her professional commitments.

"It's a sign of the times to be able to do this," she said. "I can think of so many male candidates who watched a families grow while they were in office.

"There is no reason to believe a woman can't do it with a growing family. My baby will not be at all or in any sense neglected."

Neither, Palin said, will the state, as she prepares to lead deliberations for a multibillion-dollar natural gas pipeline. That's the economic future of the state, a means of getting North Slope natural gas to consumers throughout North America.

"I will not shirk my duties," she said.

====

AKA, no mention of Trig's medical needs, just that the three of them went into the office so she wasn't shirking her duties.

Yowsers... look at the report card for the Palin choice: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/29/reportcard.palin/index.html

Then look at the results for the poll... Over 150K, and McCain's got a C.

Tsk, tsk. You're double-posting on 2 threads, but you forgot to mention that on the other thread, someone pointed you to THIS poll, which is far more likely to be random Americans. CNN? Remember, that used to stand for Clinton News Network.

In reading the article about her baby and family I am very impressed by her dedication to both her elected job responsibilities and to her family.

She has a great attitude.

I looked it up (see above post). She brought her husband and her newborn into the office so she didn't shirk her duties.

So, yeah, I think her putting it in USA Today that she returned to work three days after giving birth is ooky. It shows -to me- that her job comes before her kid. If you disagree, no skin off my nose. But don't go exaggerating and saying I'm insulting all working mothers or junk like that.

She's a political candidate, and she was picked not because she's Henry Kissinger in a dress. She was picked because of her political beliefs and her resume. Oh, and the amazing things she's done in less than two years as Governor. :)

Love the choice!! Can't wait to vote for McCain/Palin :thumbsup2

I can't even finish reading this thread because it's so ridiculous.

If the Hillary voters go for her that will be the reason. She is poles apart from Hillary. Does anyone really want to even think about this woman becoming President? :scared1:

What a guy, John McCain. He uses women.

He marries Cindy, after dumping his first wife, for her connections and resources to get him into politics.

Now he gives the nod for VP to unknown Gov. Sarah Palin, he does this only to court the women's vote.

Use your heads ladies, John McCain is nothing but a user.

I don't understand how a proud woman could put herself on the same ticket as someone who voted down giving her the same wage as a man doing the same job....boggles my mind....

She's staunchley pro-life.

Are you?

Or just voting for McCain because he has a woman on the ticket?

Well, unless at the moment you're dealing with an unwanted pregnancy, it should not really affect you.

I agree! A woman against women... :sad2:

xoprincessmomxo.... you completely contradicted yourself. Nice job.

Everyone needs to stop telling women what they should want and how they are supposed to think. THAT is the crap that is insulting to women.
