It's Official...IT'S PALIN

I was also a HUGE Hillary supporter. But I supported her not only for her womanhood, but mainly because her views represented my views the best.

Am I extremely disappointed that she did not get the presidential nomination or even the VP nod? Yes. It really ticks me off. Do I even like Obama? No. I think he is a bit egotistical and pompous.
Anyone curious as to Obama's true reasons for NOT choosing Hillary? :scratchin I think he blew it big time on that one.

The father obviously has a role. Her DH is a commercial fisherman (she worked with him in the beginning, according to her bio). If he's able to take time off to care for their children, as a state employee, yes, I think she should put the important things first. Her family. Same thing Karen Hughes did. Family comes first, not political power or political jobs.

It's just not sitting right with me, so that's why I hope she impresses the HECK out of me in the debates.

When my daughter was born, I took 3 weeks off. I took those days off because my husband could stay home with my daughter and try as I might, I was not meant to be a "stay at home" mom. I have no problems with women who choose that. I just can't. Currently I make more money than my husband and although both of us work, I can promise you that without my working and having the drive I have in my career, we would not make ends meet.

If I were him, I would have been afraid she'd have me killed. More than one person around the Clintons have disappeared or "committed suicide".

I agree. It would be helpful (at least to little ol' me) if people could just come right out and say they have a problem with her being an Evangelical Protestant though. :confused3

It would make it easier for you to say religious intolerance, true.

I have a problem when her deeply personal religion affects my child's education. As a possible President, her beliefs on what is appropriate to be taught in schools come into play. She has already had her personal religious beliefs be tested as a Governor, in terms of gay marriage (she supports a Constitutional amendment banning them) and has vetoed, on the basis of legal advice, a law banning employee benefits for domestic partnerships.

In addition, with the interference of the Bush administration into the FDA and EPA, I personally want NO ONE who is led by their religious beliefs to head up those agencies. I am on the fence about if she is inappropriately led by her religious beliefs. Here again, the VP debates will be very interesting.

Hope that makes you feel better even though my opposition to "creationism" isn't as simple as "they pray, so they must be wacko!!" hysteria.

Kinda blows the old "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" quote out of the water...

Fair enough... Not at all talking about you, but perhaps there are some instances where use of code (ie "creationist") is a way of politely expressing one's religious intolerance on message boards. :confused3 The way the word was so quickly slung around about SP makes me give credence to that idea.

Here again, even though you identify with her decision to go back to work, that actually doesn't mean you two are the same person. You didn't have the benefits of an elected Lt. Governor to delegate to, nor did you have the benefits she has as a state employee.

There is a bit of a difference here. She chose to go back to work and leave her special needs child after 3 days. Whether or not she worked full days, half days, or one minute, the advertising the fact that she immediately returned to work is what doesn't sit well with -me.- She had a baby in April that is special needs. She will be running for VP for the next few months. She will be resigning as Governor to take the position of VP, possibly.

If the Lt. Gov is good enough to take over from her when she is elected VP, why is this person only ok to take over for 3+ days when Palin had a child this past April?

YMMV.

The immediate problem is for Cindy McCain. Knowing her husband and his reputation as a womanizer, will she be okay with him traveling around the country with a younger and prettier woman?popcorn::

I'm betting Cindy was the strongest backer for McCain picking this SMART, SUCCESSFUL, INDEPENDENT woman as his running mate!

I don't think he blew it by not choosing her, but by not vetting her. If Hillary were the nominee, I would respect the fact that she didn't choose Obama if that was her choice. It was his decision. I'm sure he might consider her for a cabinet position instead.

Just like McCain chose who he wanted as VP. I like who he chose, because it gives Obama a better chance at winning. Thanks John!

Just because there is only circumstantial proof does not mean it is not true. After reading all of the evidence available to me regarding Vincent Foster's "suicide", I believe the Clintons had him murdered. It's fine you don't believe it. No problem with me.

You aren't from Arkansas ......obviously!:lmao:

I could have taken 6 weeks paid leave off. I had a classroom with a qualified teacher in place, and I am a state employee. It's the same thing. Your comment is a slap in the face of all mothers who back to work.

Good analysis of the pick from Time magazine:
John McCain needs to persuade swing voters that he's willing to take on the Republican establishment. He needs to persuade conservatives that he isn't squishy about social issues. And he needs to close the gender gap. When you think about it, the real surprise about Sarah Palin's selection as his running mate is that it's such a surprise. Link

While it would have overjoyed most of the Democrats at having HC as Obama's VP, just too much was said and done for them to realistically work together as a team. The Clintons threw everything they could think of at B.O and most of it was quite foul, even in the bare knuckle word of politics.

My instincts tell me that both her and Bill secretly despise B.O. I'm sure the feeling is quite mutual with him as well, but if they hadn't of made up and played nice at the convention, Bill and Hillary would both be damaged goods in the Democratic party. Especially if B.O would to lose. Fingers would be pointed at them. Hillary may never become POTUS, but she can and will stay a Senator for life. She most likely will become the next in line for the power and prestige that Ted Kennedy currently has in the Senate and in the Democratic party. He won't be around much longer and as the old saying goes, "Nature Abhors a Vacuum". I can see her stepping into that role with ease. That's my two cents.

I slap my own face? I don't think so. I think you WANT it to apply to you so you could make the valid complaint go away, because you could play the Mommy Wars card.

Did you have a special needs child? Did you have enough vacation time to cover your time off? Did you have a duly ELECTED official who was ELECTED to take your place if you needed to step away?

If you did not have all of those criteria, you're just wanting to get upset to counter my argument.
