Well that dreaded day has arrived, the day we have to go home - noooooooo!

The alarm has gone off nice and early, 6.30 am so I can do the final bits of packing then we will be off down to Downtown Disney for 8 ish to check the luggage in and ourselves.

Then I suppose we will have some breakfast back at the hotel before checking out and going into Islands and Universal for the rest of our time here. Our flight is at 6.25 pm our time and we arrive home at 7.25 am tomorrow your time.

Thanks for the good wishes, hate the last day and the day before the last day.

This is what we have done so far.

We checked into Downtown Disney sometime after 8 this morning, think about 8.40. All the luggage was okay, though one suitcase weighed 27 kg but as we are allowed in total 46 kg they must have thought they would let us on with that.

By 9.40 am we were back in the hotel. I picked up a muffin for breakfast before we walked across to Islands. Here we did Dr Doom, The Hulk, Spiderman and the Fire Dragon in Duelling Dragons. We struck the dragon l
line really well as there was no one hardly in the front seat line so we jumped in there. We have ridden in the front before but I couldnt remember much about it. It was fantastic and if you can try it, it is a whole different experience.

We legged it over to Universal because DH wanted to do the Horror Make Up Show which is really funny and I can recommend it. They also pick a woman in her 50s who doesnt put her hand up, I am in my 40s but definitely felt quite uneasy when they were looking for a victim.

After this we hit The Simpsons, Men in Black and The Mummy. We all felt very sad as is was our last visit for a while, see my new countdown. It is always easier leaving when you know you are coming back.

We left the park for the airport and I think it only took about 15 minutes or so. Dropping off the car wasnt a problem and we were soon in the main terminal grabbing a meal. Our plane had landed in early.

We had a brief look around the shops and DH dived off to the Oakley shop because he wanted some red lenses for his Oakleys. He was pleased to find some.

We had lunch, me picking a lovely tuna sandwich and a banana, DS19 Kungpa an Asian dish, DS17 a macDonalds and DH pizza and cheesecake. We had a wander around the shops before going through security.

Security was very straight forward except DH went off like a rocket to quote the security guard when he went through the metal detector, he had his ipod and belt on. Everything just remained in the bags, I didnt have to get my laptop out and soon we were catching the train to the gate terminal.

We are now waiting to board the plane, our time 5 pm, boarding begins at half past and we are on first because we are on the back.

We are travelling on Jersey Girl.

Cya.

I really enjoyed reading your trip reports. It must be sad to be back home but like you say, you've got another trip to plan for so that's great!

Thanks for the good wishes, as you know we had a fantastic holiday but feeling a bit sad that it is over. I will update this report later on today.

Bob, what is it like to actually live in Orlando? For us it is our ideal and the best holiday destination in the world, we get to go in the best theme parks, eat delicious food, experience beautiful hot weather, buy bargain price clothing, etc. I know the tourists bring in a lot of money but do the locals actually really like their city being invaded with all these travellors? Thinking about it I suppose it is really just the park areas that are filled with tourists. Do you still appreciate what you have on your doorstep or does it just become a normal place if you know what I mean. I know when we went in Feb one year, I remember a local being behind us in the Splash line and saying she doesnt come anywhere near the parks in the summer due to the heat and crowds. Where do the locals go on holiday? Do you visit the parks a lot yourself? Sorry for all the questions but just really interested to hear a locals point of view.

I have fell asleep a few times since we returned, hence now being awake at 1.05 am in the morning. Should try and get some sleep now and adjust.

Welcome home!

I've loved reading your reports each day, but I can't believe how quickly your holiday seems to be over.

Your holiday has gone so quickly - thanks for the reports, they have been wonderful to read whilst at work:rolleyes1

Thanks Libby and Girlsontour (happy hols in Ibiza). It didnt seem to go quick for us as we were busy doing things but I know how quick the weeks normally go when you are at home. I am glad you enjoyed reading them.

Welcome home and thanks again for such a great live trip report.x.

Hi all, thanks for the best wishes. I will wrap this up now by finishing the journey home.

We actually boarded at 5.50 pm, the skies outside had darkened which made it easier leaving the sunny weather as there was a storm. However, we hadnt counted on the airport being shut down because of it, as a consequence we spent 25 minutes just sitting in the plane waiting for the storm to pass. It became quite hot and stuffy whilst we waited but definitely better than trying to take off in a thunderstorm. We were all feeling sad that the holiday was at an end.

The films are the flight were Happy Go Lucky, Drillbit Taylor, Be Kind Rewind, The Escapist, 1000 BC, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Air We Breathe, Definitely Maybe, The Game Plan, The Bank Job and Arctic Tale. Shortly after take off we were offered drinks and a snack. I had a glass of wine and some sour cream and Chives mini pretzels. I tried to watch Spiderwick Chronicles, whilst DH chose The Bank Job and the kids Drillbit Taylor.

Dinner was roast beef and mash me, chicken and rice the kids and cheese and pasta DH. The turbulence was pretty bad during the meal, I had to quickly cover the wine glass because the wine nearly flew out of it. A few people made scared noises as we plummeted but after being on all those rides it took a little while to sink it that it was quite dangerous. I tried to watch the film but increasingly wanted to shut my eyes. I managed to drop off a few times. At 6.15 am we were 561 miles away from Manchester.

We actually walked 6.7 miles yesterday which was pretty good as we were at the airport for some of that time. I cannot remember what the total is as I have not unpacked the piece of paper that I was keeping the info on, but I reckon it must roughly be about 140 miles walked.

Breakfast was a hot muffin (English type not the cake) with cheese, bacon and egg filling plus a drink of coffee. Welcome snack.

We landed at about 7.50, and were taken to the out of the way parking bay we had originally embarked on, which seemed to take an age to taxi too. This also meant we had to be shipped to the terminal via bus. By 8.30 am we were waiting for the cases which had already started to come out and it wasnt long till they appeared. By 8.45 am we were back at the SAS Radisson getting the keys for our car and we were on our way home.

A couple of hours later, poor DH driving, we arrived home and after a quick phone call to Mam and Dad I went to bed for a couple of hours. On awakening I went up to Mam and Dads (they live in the same road), they had kindly invited us for tea which was nice. DH, DS17 and DS19 followed.

DS17 had not been asleep at all and managed to stay awake till about 7 pm when he crashed out on the settee with the laptop. We couldnt move him so he stayed there with me till about 1.30 am. DH had gone up to bed but woke up when I had gone upstairs to check on the eldest. He then came down as we went up.

We then slept in till 1.30 pm, poor DH had to go to work. I suppose we will be a bit out of sorts time wise till we adjust but we had a great holiday and cannot wait to go back there.

A couple of notes to myself here are for all of us especially the men to take less clothes, to know the directions when we leave the airport ie look out for the 528 road, dont take any electronics other than cameras and computer because I didnt use them.

Hope you have enjoyed sharing our holiday. I intend to update my reports with photos when I get a minute so you can see what I saw.

I am sad that the holiday is at an end but have next year's all booked up which makes it a bit easier knowing we will be back plus I will enjoy looking at all the photos I have taken and posting some up for you to have a look at.:) I am glad you have enjoyed reading my reports because sometimes it was a bit of a chore doing it after a full day out at the parks and just wanting to jump into bed but it will be nice for me to read back on now I have done it.

Only the hubbie is in bed now, the 3 of us are wide awake, jet lagged.

Bye bye,

Bev:)
