It's my first college spring break...I'm going to Disney World! Mar 12 (Updated 6/18)

Sounds like you have your days all planned out! :) I checked your plans with ours and it doesn't look like we will be in any of the same parks on the same days. :( Oh well.

Have fun at your Dismeet. :)

D~

You really need to make rope drop at MK. It's absolutely amazing. I did twice and was freaking out with excitement both times. Definitely on the must-do list from now on!

I'm really jealous of you eating at Yak and Yeti. That wonton dessert is screaming at me...so are several entrees. Ugh I'm hungry.

I can't wait for Saturdayyyyy

Aww :( Well at least we'll still be able to enjoy each other's trips through pictures when we get back :thumbsup2

I had a ton of fun at my DIS meet!!! :goodvibes

I'm determined to make rope drop. Even if my mom doesn't want to do it, I'll just go by myself. I think she'll finally let me go to MK by myself this year  The funny thing is I go to Providence alone four days a week but she's nervous about letting me go to any of the parks alone. Providence, where there were two shootings and a stabbing one night over the weekend  It's not a bad city during the day but I don't want to be here at night! Another point on my long list of reasons for not living on campus

I'm definitely getting the wontons! The dining plan lets you get an entree and a dessert :thumbsup2

Saturday was amazing!!! I'll get the pictures up eventually. I'll try to do it some time this week, but it may end up being the middle of next week after the paper and two tests are behind me :headache: I should be studying right now, but my brain isn't working today :rotfl: I can't concentrate on anything today. It's not because I'm tired; I got like 8 hours of sleep last night. I think I broke my brain yesterday writing my history paper :lmao:

Hope you get your brain fixed. :thumbsup2
Glad you had a good time at your meet. :goodvibes

I think you'll be just fine going to rope drop by yourself if Mom doesn't want to get up. From resort to bus to park - you'll be safe. ::yes:: Maybe she'll decide to get up and go with you, though. It's usually more fun with someone, unless you're just going to walk around and take pictures.

It'll be interesting to see how our Magic Kingdom rope drop touring plan changes as they add on the new Fantasyland things. It's always been Dumbo, then Peter Pan for us right off the bat, but now Dumbo is farther removed. We'll have to plot a new strategy as each new thing opens up. :)

My brain seems to be working a little better today

She would've let me go alone last year; I almost went by myself one morning but I was the one who didn't want to get out of bed :rotfl: I think she'll want to go but if she doesn't I'll just meet up with her in the park later in the morning! We'll hopefully get the Fantasyland stuff done on our late night EMH night, so maybe if I do rope drop without her I can go ride Space Mountain a couple times so she won't have to wait for me to ride it later. I always feel bad making her wait while I ride the thrill rides but she doesn't seem to mind.

Hello DIS friends!

We are now under two weeks!!!! We got our Magical Express stuff on Thursday :dance3: I can't believe how close our trip is. It's gone by so fast since school started.

I have a crazy week coming up. I have a paper due tomorrow, a test on Tuesday, and a midterm on Wednesday :scared1: I finished the paper yesterday, so that's out of the way. I have a family thing today, and once that's over I'll basically be studying non-stop until Wednesday :faint: But on Wednesday, after my midterm, I can start doing the single digit dance  After Wednesday, I'll just have one more midterm to worry about, next week.

So now I'll take a few minutes to post some of the pictures from my DIS meet with Megablocks :thumbsup2

We met up in Boston, at the New England Aquarium. My mom was supposed to meet up with a friend of hers, but she ended up not being able to make it so my mom hung out in the area and relaxed and read her book. I think she really liked having a few hours to relax!

When we were on the subway I got a text from Meghan saying that the line to buy aquarium tickets was really long...she wasn't exaggerating :rotfl: It was probably because it was the start of school vacation week in New England. Apparently we were in line for an hour, but it didn't feel like it at all. We were talking the whole time and the time flew by!

There will be a lot of penguin pictures in this update. We love the penguins :lovestruc

We were watching them for a while, waiting to see if one of them would jump in the water, because we love watching them do that. There were several of them sitting on the edge looking like they were about to go in, but after a little while we walked away. They probably all jumped in after we left :lmao:

These pictures aren't very good; my camera has an underwater setting but my aquarium pictures still don't come out well.

We found Dory! Several Dory's actually  We tried to find Nemo, but the clownfish they had just had one stripe. They were fake Nemo's

More penguins.

There are a lot of random penguin shots in here. The big tank at the aquarium is in the middle, with a spiral ramp going up and you can pretty much see the penguins from any point as you're going up.

Creepy fish

While we were watching the penguins, Meg noticed something on the ceiling that said "monorail." Guess what that made us think of :rotfl:

Turtle!

We went up to the top of the tank to get a better look at the turtles. We realized that there were more than one. There were at least two of them, possibly three.

After that we went outside to see the seals and sea lions.

We wanted to see the training show, but I guess they were starting late and we only had an hour left, so we went to get something to eat and explore the gift shop. We made a sad discovery in the little cafeteria. The MooBella machine was gone! MooBella is a "make your own ice cream" machine that we had a ton of fun with. We were all excited about it...and then it was gone :sad2: After that discovery, we got some food and then had some fun in the gift shop. Then it was time to go meet my mom, so we headed out. I took one picture of the beautiful city of Boston.

My mom took a picture of us. Please excuse the weird look on my face :rotfl:

It was an awesome DIS meet and we had a ton of fun!

That's all for today! I'll be back later this week to have some more trip countdown fun :dance3:

Hi everyone!

I meant to update earlier in the week, but it's been a very busy week. I had a paper due Monday, a big test on Tuesday, and a midterm on Wednesday :faint: Lots of studying! My mom was also on a business trip Tuesday through Friday so I've had a lot of extra stuff to do. But now she's home and most of my studying is behind me! I have one more midterm on Wednesday. I also have a lot of work due the week after we get back, but I'll worry about that after the trip ;)

We hit the one week mark yesterday!!! I've been playing the "this time next week" game :) This time next week we'll be at Epcot! It doesn't even seem possible that the trip is that close. The time has flown by since school started! We're both really looking forward to a week where all we have to worry about is which ride to go on next :thumbsup2

We're developing a pre-Disney to do list. The main thing was getting things taken care of for my grandma, but we finally heard back from meals on wheels(after 9 weeks...it was supposed to be a 2 week waiting period ) and they're bringing food Monday through Friday starting this Monday. She also has some in-home care people coming in a few times a week, and my cousin lives in town and visits a couple times a week. So she should be all set!

Today our family friend, who comes over to take care of our pets while we're away, is coming by to get re-acquainted with our pets and the house. She's a very sweet person and is really good to our pets. She comes over two or three times a day to walk our dog and feed all of the animals. She even stays for a little while to play with the dog and give the cats some attention.

We also have to go shoe shopping before we leave. I need a new pair of sneakers. The ones I have now sometimes give me blisters just walking around campus. After a week in Disney my feet would be ready to fall off

I'm gonna start putting stuff in a packing pile this weekend. I was originally gonna skip class on Thursday so I'd have the whole day to pack but I have my hardest class that day and I really can't afford to miss it. So I'll do a little packing every night this week so I won't have too much to do on Thursday night.

Well that's all I have to report today! This time next week we'll be eating lunch at Via Napoli

Have a good weekend DIS friends!

Hey! I've been reading along but haven't posted, so I figured that I should reply now! :lmao:

At this time next week, you'll be at Animal Kingdom!!! :cool1:

Definitely get the wontons for dessert at Yak & Yeti!! They are soooo good! We never ate there until last September -- for some reason we always have trouble finding somewhere to eat at AK. We usually just wait until we leave the park & then eat dinner somewhere else. But I'm soooo glad we were able to get a walk-in to Yak & Yeti because it was soooo good!!! I think my last DIS update was actually about Yak & Yeti but I'm so far behind on my own report, I can't even remember! LOL!!! If you go to my report, there should be pics (somewhere!) of Yak & Yeti though! My dinner was very good, I hope to eat there again at some point but not sure if we'll fit it in next trip.

So glad you & Meg had a fun day at the aquarium!! Thanks for sending me the pic too! I love the aquarium portion of our zoo! I haven't been to an actual aquarium since back in 2004 when I went to Myrtle Beach!

I LOVE penguins too!!! They are so much fun to watch! I usually stand in front of the penguins at our zoo for a really long time taking pics & video! Last summer, Luke really loved them too.

I'm so glad to hear that your last minute preparations for the trip are wrapping up! Can't believe you are leaving THIS WEEK!!! Yay!!!! I know sometimes it feels like those last few days before a Disney trip really drag especially when packing is involved -- but I hope this week at school flies by for you!!!

I almost forgot why I wanted to make sure to post to your report! Sorry my brain is somewhere else this morning!!! Did you hear about the monorail closures??

I "borrowed" this from AllEars:

"Magic Kingdom Monorail: Beginning March 2, the monorail service on the Magic Kingdom Resort and Express routes will be temporarily suspended between 11:30am and 6:00pm. Extra buses and watercraft will be available for transportation. Planned maintenance will be performed during this time. Monorails will continue to operate normally for Extra Magic Hours. The Epcot Monorail will operate normally. This work should be completed by the end of March."

Just wanted to make sure to post in case you are planning to use the Monorail during your trip at all!

Have a wonderful, magical trip if I don't post again here between now & then!
:dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

Yay! Hi Hope :wave2:

I'm so excited about Yak & Yeti!!! I tried to get a reservation there a few years ago, but it was the year it opened so it was completely booked. The counter service there was really good, so I can't even imagine how good the table service food is!!! I can't wait to try those wontons

You're welcome :goodvibes I love the aquarium in Boston. It's the third DIS meet we've had there. We always have a ton of fun! We keep calling it the "fake Epcot meet" They even have a pressed penny machine there :lmao: We wanted to send you a picture of it but it was too dark to get a good one. I should've taken one with the flash on my camera though!

I'm hoping this week flies by! I get such bad pre-trip anxiety and worry about everything :lmao: "What if it snows?" "What if I forget to pack something really important?" "What if we oversleep and miss our flight?" But we usually leave a few days into my school vacation; this time I have class Mon-Thurs so hopefully I'll be too busy to worry :rotfl: I've actually already started packing. Well, sort of. I got a big plastic bin and started making a packing pile in there. I put all of my shorts and capris in there, since I definitely don't need those here! I also put my Disney shirts, my pressed penny stuff, and a few other things. I'm just trying to get some stuff together so I won't be trying to do everything Thursday night! I don't even get home from school until 4:30 so that doesn't leave me a lot of time.

:scared1: Nooo I love the monorail :( But if it's only between 11:30 and 6:00 that should be okay. We were planning on taking the boat to MK from WL on Saturday and then hopping on the monorail to Epcot, but that'll be way before 11:30. Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Thanks Hope! I'll definitely be sending you pictures :thumbsup2

Just checking in to see if anything exciting is going on around here this week.

Anyone? :rolleyes1

YAY!!! Have a safe trip!!! We are leaving this morning - I think we figured out that none of our plans coincide - so I hope you have a great trip!!! :)

Thank you! I hope you all have a wonderful trip too!!!!

Our plans aren't set in stone, so they could change a little bit. If I see you at any point I'll definitely say hi :goodvibes

Good morning DIS friends!

Now I know my ticker says I leave in two days, but it's actually three. I wish it was two

We got most of our pre-trip shopping done on Sunday! I got new sneakers and then got a couple new hoodies at Walmart for $7 each :thumbsup2 We had a shopping list of toiletries and stuff like that. We got new bottles of saline and contact solution. We have a bunch of half empty bottles but I didn't want them to leak in the suitcases on the way there. Obviously we'll come home with half empty bottles but it's not as big of a deal if they leak on the way home. We'll put the souvenirs in the other suitcase  I also desperately needed rewetting drops for my eyes. I do like to wear my contacts in Disney but since I haven't been wearing them lately they irritate my eyes a little bit. The rewetting drops help a lot and the ones I have expired in May 2010 so I figured I shouldn't use those :rolleyes1

We also bought sunscreen because it looks like it's gonna be hot and sunny! I've been obsessively checking the weather for both Orlando and Providence. The Orlando forecast says highs in the low 80's all week. The Providence forecast had said rain showers on Friday for a while, but now it just says mostly cloudy. No snow :worship: We're getting a warm front tomorrow. It's supposed to be close to 60 on Thursday. It figures that right when I'm about the leave for Florida it warms up here :rotfl:

I've already started packing. Well, not really packing, more like organizing. I got a big plastic bin and put it in my room. I've been throwing things in there since Saturday. I put some of my Disney shirts in there, and all of my shorts and capris. I also threw the stuff we bought over the weekend in there. So at least I'm somewhat ready for packing! I have one more midterm tomorrow, so studying for that will keep me busy tonight. I'd like to start packing tomorrow night, but it's easier if I just pack my whole suitcase all at once, so I think I'll go through my packing list and throw everything into the bin until Thursday afternoon. I also can't pack my carry-on yet because I use my school backpack, which I'll still need on Thursday.

Well I have to go to class, so I'll check in again tomorrow!!!

3 days :dance3:

Good Morning!

I'm updating this two mornings in a row. I'm very proud of myself  I'm not a morning person. I'm usually lucky if I can get eat, get dressed, and get myself out the door on time, let alone get on the DIS. But I'll be hopping right out of bed when my alarm goes off at 3:30 AM on Friday :thumbsup2

Today is my mom's last day of work until we get back. She's taking a vacation day tomorrow to take care of last minute stuff, get my grandma settled, do laundry, etc. I was planning on skipping class tomorrow, but I ended up doing that last Thursday so I can't tomorrow. Oh well. I'll physically be in class but I have a feeling my brain will be somewhere else...like down in Florida :rolleyes1 I get out of class at 4:00 tomorrow, and I'll be home around 4:30. Then I get to pack :cool1: I actually love packing. Is that weird? But it takes me forever. I get distracted a million times while I'm going from room to room looking for stuff. That's why I'm planning on getting most things I need into the packing pile tonight, so tomorrow it'll all be there and I'll just need to put it in my suitcase and my carryon. I had a dream this week that I forgot to pack my camera :scared1: I promise I won't do that! I don't think a trip report with only phone pictures would be very exciting

The weather still looks good. Partly cloudy here on Friday morning :worship: I've been so worried about snow, but it looks like we're safe. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though!

Well I have to go get ready for school! I'll be back later tonight, or tomorrow! I'll definitely be posting a couple times tomorrow :goodvibes

2 days!!!

I leave TOMORROW! :dance3:

It's about 60 degrees here today :confused3 New England weather is very confusing :rotfl:

I have a loooong to do list today. I'll be very busy after I get home from school!

This is a short update. I have to get ready for school, and maybe get a few trip-related things done before I leave! I'll be back later to check in before I go to bed!

This time tomorrow I'll be on a plane

Hopefully you are resting for your trip TOMORROW!!! -- so you may not see this until you get back -- but I hope you have a wonderful trip!!! :thumbsup2

I'll be awaiting my text messages from the World!!! ;) :woohoo:

Can't wait to hear all about it once you return!!! Safe travels for tomorrow -- I checked the FL weather this morning & it looks gorgeous!

Have fun, Christine!!!

:cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3:

I just finished packing. I just need to take a shower and get to bed!

I'll check in on my report a couple times while I'm gone. I'm not taking my laptop but I can check in on my phone :thumbsup2

For those of you I have numbers for, expect texts and pictures :thumbsup2

Well I need to shower and get to sleep! I'll talk to you all later!!!
