It's my first college spring break...I'm going to Disney World! Mar 12 (Updated 6/18)

When are you done with school? I still have my math class (the final is May 7th :faint: ) but I'm done with my practicum. I have a conference with my faculty advisor on May 1st to discuss my portfolio, but the internship and the class is over, and I still substitute at the program when they need me. So I was done with the interning yesterday. My assistant director called me TODAY and asked if I could sub Monday-Friday from eight till noon all next week. OKAY! :rotfl: I'm probably not with my older kids, but I'm gonna try really hard to pop in at some point. I'm working something like 45.5 hours between both places next week...but it will be so worth it when I get the checks!

I'm done on May 10th. I have a paper due this week. I was supposed to have another one due this week too but my professor pushed it back to next Wednesday :worship: My last day of class is May 3, and I have exams the next week. I have exams May 7, 9, and 10, plus a take home final (which is a paper) due May 8th. I'd rather have the paper than the test, but I'm really annoyed that I have to drive all the way to campus that day just to hand in the paper. I also had a written final last semester that could be submitted by email, but this professor is like 70 years old and not tech-savvy.

I'll be filling out summer job applications soon. Hopefully it goes better than last time. No one will hire someone who's never had a job before...so how does anyone get a first job? :rotfl:

Finally time for an update

When I left off we had just grabbed Splash Mountain fastpasses and were on our way to Adventureland!

We walked this way...

on our way to...

DSCF9480.jpg

I love Pirates. It's definitely one of our favorites! pirate:

I think the wait time was like 30 minutes but it didn't take that long.

After that we went back to Liberty Square.

DSCF9481.jpg

We were excited to be eating dinner here later:

DSCF9482.jpg

DSCF9483.jpg

My mom LOVES the Hall of Presidents. I don't. But I promised we'd do it at some point (and we did, just not that day).

We hopped in line for the Haunted Mansion

DSCF9487.jpg

DSCF9488.jpg

We went through the cemetary so we could see the new interactive queue! :hmghost:

DSCF9489.jpg

DSCF9490.jpg

DSCF9491.jpg

DSCF9492.jpg

I was glad they kept all of the old headstones. When I saw the walls up last year I was worried that they would get rid of them.

DSCF9494.jpg

DSCF9495.jpg

DSCF9496.jpg

The line was moving quickly so we didn't get to play with everything in the queue that day, but I really liked it!

I had been checking twitter because I knew Storybook Circus was supposed to be opening around the time we were there. I saw people reporting that the walls were down at the Storybook Circus train station and you could see the Barnstormer. So, we decided to hop on the train in Frontierland and take a round trip. We figured by the time we got back it would be time to use our Splash Mountain fastpasses :thumbsup2

Continued in next post...

I once saw a reel deer hanging out with those fake deer. It looked like it was really confused. "Why aren't these guys moving?"

Barnstormer.

DSCF9508.jpg

Not the best pictures. I was trying to take pictures on my camera and my phone at the same time. It didn't work out well

DSCF9509.jpg

DSCF9510.jpg

The parade was going by when we stopped at the Main Street station.

DSCF9511.jpg

I put my camera away when we got to Frontierland, so I don't have any Splash pictures. It was really hot so the stand-by line was REALLY long by the time we got there. We got on in about 5 minutes with the fastpasses :worship:

At this point we were both insanely thirsty so we went into the Briar Patch gift shop to get some water.

Always look up in Disney gift shops ;)

DSCF9512.jpg

DSCF9513.jpg

We got in line to pay for our water and this family in front of us was taking forever to pay. One teenage girl kept picking out more stuff that she wanted to buy and giving it to the guy who was paying. The CM would tell him the total, and then the girl would put more stuff on the counter. It took at least 15 minutes to get our water bottles and they were the only people in front of us :headache:

Eventually we got our water bottles and I drank mine in under two minutes. I was thirsty :rotfl:

According to my notes, we went to the Tiki Room next but I don't have any Adventureland pictures so I guess I put my camera away.

After visiting the Tiki birds we walked out through Adventureland.

Past the Crystal Palace...

DSCF9515.jpg

Past a Disney duck...

DSCF9517.jpg

DSCF9518.jpg

I just noticed those clouds...but I don't remember it raining again that night :confused3

We walked past Walt and Mickey...

DSCF9519.jpg

I'll leave you with one last castle picture and stop here for now!

DSCF9521.jpg

Next time: Tomorrowland, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Wishes!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Jill won't get to ride any big stuff this summer, so she has agreed that she might go see Hall of Presidents with me while John takes
Brooklynn to ride Space Mountain a couple of times. I enjoy it, but it's not usually on her list of things to do.

Good luck as you finish out your school year! :)

I don't mind seeing it once a trip, but I wouldn't see it on my own. My mom LOVES history so she loves the Hall of Presidents. I don't mind it so much now but when I was younger I hated going in there :rotfl:

Thanks! I need to go catch up on your report! School has been eating up my DIS time :( I'm currently taking a break from writing my history paper. I'm over half way done so it shouldn't take too long to finish. I don't have anything else due this week that I haven't already done. But I have another paper due next week, and I should start working on my written final because I won't have time to do it during exam week when I have to study for 3 other finals :faint: I do get some fun time next week; my mom and I are going to a Red Sox game on my birthday next Monday :cool1: I can't believe my birthday is next week! It really snuck up on me!

And now I have to go finish my paper :surfweb:

I definitely want to see HoP. I'm kind of a history nerd. :)

I'm so bummed I can't come to Boston to meet you guys on your birthday - my class is so inconveniently timed. It's just basically a review for our final the week after, not even a real class, so it kills me even more that it's not really a -class- day, but I still can't miss it!

Also, I just realized I saw that the next update is LTT and Wishes. I haven't been to LTT since back when it was still character dining, and you know how I feel about Wishes.

Aww I wish you could come too but I totally understand! I have finals the week after my birthday too. It's a crazy week for all college students! We'll just have to have some fun summer DIS meets :thumbsup2

I'm actually unintentionally skipping class right now. My car is having issues and I had to take it to the garage yesterday. My mom worked from home yesterday so I could borrow her car but she needed it today. So I had no way to get to class

I should get to that update today! :thumbsup2

When I left off we were on the way to...

DSCF9523.jpg

DSCF9524.jpg

DSCF9525.jpg

Our first stop was one of our favorite rides

DSCF9526.jpg

We love the Peoplemover. It's nice to get off your feet and relax for a little bit! We ride this several times every trip. Sometimes my mom goes on while she waits for me to ride Space Mountain.

Some of these are blurry...

DSCF9527.jpg

DSCF9528.jpg

You can see one of the Storybook Circus tents in the background of this picture:

DSCF9529.jpg

DSCF9530.jpg

DSCF9531.jpg

After that we went to the Laugh Floor, which was hilarious as always

At this point we had about 45 minutes left until our dinner reservation, which probably wasn't enough time to do anything. So we decided to head back towards Liberty Square and look around some of the stores there.

I love the side view of the castle from the Liberty Square bridge.

DSCF9536.jpg

We went into the Christmas shop. There were some cute ornaments I thought about buying but I didn't end up getting anything there.

I loved this one.

DSCF9538.jpg

We also went into the store next to the Hall of Presidents and looked around. Then we decided to just go to LTT and check in early.

DSCF9541.jpg

DSCF9542.jpg

I think we ended up getting there about 25 minutes early and we got seated within 5 minutes :thumbsup2

The disadvantage of being a party of two, is that you always get seated at the little tables for two. Normally that's fine, but at LTT when you have so much food on the table at once it can get a little cramped. But we're used to it by now so it's not a big deal

First the salad and roles.

DSCF9544.jpg

DSCF9545.jpg

They have the BEST rolls there. I always have to stop myself from eating too many of them :rotfl: They're sooo good. The salad was delicious too!

Now the rest of the food!

DSCF9546.jpg

DSCF9547.jpg

As you can see, the table was very full  There were green beans too but for some reason I didn't get a picture of those.

The best mac and cheese ever

DSCF9548.jpg

Everything was sooo good!!!

Continued in next post...

I forgot to take a picture of the dessert when it came out but this was my half.

DSCF9549.jpg

We walked out of there very full and very happy :thumbsup2

After dinner we went to get a spot for Wishes. We ended up standing in the little pathway on the other side of the garden in front of Casey's. We were leaning against the railing on the side of the path closest to Casey's. I wish we had been against the railing on the side closest to the castle so people couldn't stand in front of us. That's what we ended up doing next time.

We could see the Main Street Electrical Parade from our spot.

These pictures aren't very good since I was so far away.

DSCF9551.jpg

A blurry castle picture. I don't have the best camera and it doesn't do well at night...

DSCF9552.jpg

DSCF9554.jpg

DSCF9556.jpg

Pretty soon it was time for the Magic, the Memories, and You. I love, love, LOVE this show. It's so amazing and it always makes me cry. I was completely blown away when I saw it last year, and I was just as amazed this year.

Then it was time for Wishes! As always, it was amazing. I love ending a night at MK with Wishes :cloud9:

I don't have any pictures from my camera. I've tried taking firework pictures with that camera and it just doesn't work. But I did get some on my phone. I have some pretty good phone pictures that I'm gonna post on here. I have to get them off my phone first, and then I'll post all of my phone pictures from our first day!

Anyway, after Wishes we were tired since we had been up since 4:00 AM, so we decided to go back to WL. We took the boat, which was fun. I love taking the boat to and from WL. It's so pretty both in the morning and at night!

When we got back to WL we went down to Roaring Fork to get our refillable mugs. I love that they come with the dining plan now! We filled our mugs and then went back to our room.

Overall, this was an absolutely perfect first day at Disney! We went to sleep very happy, looking forward to the rest of our trip!

I'm gonna try to get some of my phone pictures up today. After I post those, the next update will be the beginning of our Epcot day! :goodvibes

I'll comment on the update later. This is more important:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTINE!

party::bday::dancer::cake::banana:

Wish I could be going into Boston this afternoon to meet up with you instead of going to my silly final exam review!

Last week was such a busy blur that I didn't even get over here to see the latest updates.

I told you on FB, but I'm now wishing you an official DIStown Happy Birthday!
On FB, we don't have cake and party hats. :cake: :bday:

Have a great time at the ballpark!

Thank you!!! I tried to post this before I left for Boston but our internet was down :badpc:

I wish you could've met up with us too, but I totally understand not being able to miss class!

We had an awesome time at the game. Then we got lost trying to find the Mass Pike and drove around Boston aimlessly for about 20 minutes until I got my google maps app to work :lmao: We parked on the opposite side of the Prudential parking garage. We're usually on the other side so we came out a different way. That was the problem. Luckily I figured out my app, otherwise we'd still be driving around Boston :rotfl: Other than that mini adventure, it was a great day :thumbsup2

Now it's 1:30 AM. We've been home for a half hour and I'm wide awake :rotfl: Luckily I don't have to be out of the house in the morning until 10:00-ish. Right now I'm watching the replay of the game on NESN to see what it looked like from the TV

Thanks MeMom!! :goodvibes

We had a great time at the game! It was so much fun  The weather was good too. It was a little cold until the park filled up. There were about 37,000 people there so that created a lot of body heat

I know Fenway is huge, but 37,000 people? :faint:

I can't imagine being lost and driving around in Boston. Charlestown (where my school is) is literally walking distance from Boston, and you could actually walk from my school to the Garden if you really wanted to. So I'm used to driving home from there, and driving past the Garden and dealing with the rush hour traffic on Mondays, but that's really the only area I have to deal with.

Did I tell you that the green line expansion is going to happen? Within a few years, the green line will be expanded to my neighborhood. :headache: Apparently it will somehow benefit the Tufts University students. Tufts is in my city and literally up the street from me. I am not happy but I definitely thought, "well, it would make meeting up with Christine easier." ;)

I've never driven in Boston and I don't want to :lmao: I'm so glad my mom was driving. Luckily by that point there was almost no traffic since it was like midnight

Green line  :rotfl: I haven't had to take it in a while, since we've been driving to Sox games lately, but after the disaster on my birthday we'll probably take the T the next time we go.

Hi everybody! Sooo sorry I haven't been updating this! I've been busy with papers and finals the past two weeks. But now I'm done with school until the end of August :dance3: And I finally have a chance to do an update!

Saturday, March 10

After an amazing first day at Disney, we woke up the next morning a little before 8:00. We went down to have breakfast at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at 8:30. We did make a reservation but they said we didn't really need one since it didn't get busy there until after 9:00.

I took some pictures from upstairs first.

DSCF9559.jpg

DSCF9561.jpg

DSCF9564.jpg

We had an awesome waitress. We asked her about the fruit plate appetizer that was on the menu a few years ago. There's a fruit cup on there now and we were wondering if that was the same thing. Apparently that's different, but the chef ended up making a fruit plate for us anyway, which was so nice of him!

DSCF9566.jpg

That fruit was sooo good.

My pancakes:

DSCF9565.jpg

My mom's french toast:

DSCF9567.jpg

Everything was awesome!

After our wonderful breakfast we went back up to the room to brush our teeth and get my park bag.

We wanted to take the monorail to Epcot since we both love it, so we took the boat to MK and then hopped on the monorail.

At the WL boat dock...

DSCF9570.jpg

Here comes our boat!

DSCF9572.jpg

I love taking the boat to MK in the morning. We actually ended up doing that a lot on this trip.

DSCF9573.jpg

DSCF9574.jpg

DSCF9575.jpg

We knew that they were doing some work on the monorails, and the resort line and the express line were closed 11:30-6:00 or something like that. But it was only about 9:30 at this point so we were fine.

There was a HUGE line for the express monorail, so we decided to just take the resort monorail since it really doesn't take that much longer.

I love the view of Epcot you get from the monorail!

DSCF9578.jpg

DSCF9579.jpg

DSCF9580.jpg

When we were on the monorail I was checking Mobile Magic to see what the Fastpass return time was for Soarin'. It was 12:00-1:00, so I knew I had to get over there pretty quickly since we had a 2:00 Via Napoli reservation. It was a little after 10:00 by the time we got into the park. I stopped to take a couple quick pictures, and then I took off with our KTTW cards

DSCF9582.jpg

DSCF9583.jpg

I was power-walking to the Land while my mom walked at a nice slow pace behind me

I tried to take some pictures while I was on the move, but after I took one I knew that wasn't gonna work well so I just kept moving.

DSCF9584.jpg

It's a good thing I rushed because by the time I got there the return time was 1:05-2:05

After I got our Fastpasses and found my mom, we went to ride Living With The Land which had no wait!

DSCF9600.jpg

After that we left the Land and went to go see Figment.

DSCF9601.jpg

DSCF9604.jpg

DSCF9605.jpg

Then we went to the Seas. The line for Nemo looked a little long, so we decided to just go into the aquarium through the gift shop.

DSCF9611.jpg

None of my pictures from in there came out well, as usual. We watched the dolphins and the sea turtles for a little while. The sea turtles reminded me of the "Fake Epcot Meets" I've had with Meghan at the New England Aquarium :upsidedow

After we left the Seas I wanted to do some shopping at one of my favorite stores, Mouse Gear!

DSCF9618.jpg

I think I ended up buying a few magnets. I know my mom bought some stuff at Mouse Gear too but I can't remember if she bought anything this day, or just later in the trip.

We still had a little while until our FP return time. We wanted to ride Spaceship Earth but it had been closed since we got there, so we went to check out some of the flowers!

I'll stop here for now. Next time: More flowers, Soarin', and Via Napoli :cool1:

I wanna hear about Via Napoli!!! Ahhh!!

Your F&GF pictures are awesome! You know I love Epcot.

I meant to text you or write on Facebook...my friend/coworker was in a bagging competition. She won the first round (district), and yesterday, won the second round (regional? I think...) ANYWAY. Third round is in Rhode Island, and if possible, my crazy coworkers and I are gonna drive down to support our friend. I'm not sure when or where in Rhode Island, but it'll be some Stop & Shop, and Charles said yesterday, "when we find out where it is, you should ask Christine if it's near her and she can come meet up with us." How do you feel about a DIS meet at Stop & Shop with my crazy friends/coworkers? :lmao:

:rotfl: That may be the most unique DIS meet ever ;) If it's near me I'll try to come! I'd love to see you!

Disney World has delicious fruit. ::yes::

So pretty and peaceful.

I was power-walking to the Land while my mom walked at a nice slow pace behind me

This sounds familiar. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the flower pictures. I sure missed them this year, and I am looking forward to next March already!
