It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Disney with a 1 month old *new 2/13/15*

We loved Garden Grill! It was one of our favorite meals, on our last trip! The salad was pretty fantastic! But, it is so hard in Epoct, way too many fantastic choices!

I have been debating about that new movie...it just doesn't appeal to me. But, you just never know, sometimes, those are the best movies.

I love the Garden Grill, I am happy you guys enjoyed it!

Sorry about the repairs, I guess my opinion on old homes has changed since hearing about your house. :headache:

I cannot wait to see Big Hero 6, every time my girls see a commercial they always ask when :lmao knowing you liked it makes it more exciting.

Hmmm, I think I've seen those spikes on an episode of American Horror Story. :scratchin

Seriously though, so sorry to hear this. There is nothing worse than unexpected expenses, especially those that really can't be enjoyed in some way. :(

So does this image from the movie imply some pirating going on here Phil?

Nice stop at the Garden Grill. I'm a sucker for characters in different and unique outfits like Farmer Mickey, so I'm sure I'd like it.

I agree. For me nothing has the feels of Wishes, but Illuminations actually does produce quite a few in its own right. And hey, nothing wrong with bonus fireworks, in triplicate overall. :thumbsup2

I hope the renovations your house needs are not overly extensive. I have to admit, I am a big fan of older houses because they are just so cool, but I don't think I could ever own one because I'm lazy!

It's been awhile since I've eaten at the Garden Grill but I remember really enjoying the food, especially the fish. I also remember that those tables are small and I could hardly move when I was done. :rotfl2:

The pictures of the kids are adorable. :thumbsup2

How nice that your caught Illuminations and then the tail end of Wishes.

I know I am not completely caught up on your TR as I was away for awhile!

Fun update. We did Garden Grill in December. Although it was not a favorite food-wise (Mark got sick, but we now believe that was from the chicken which he still can't eat after having his gallbladder removed in April), we had a lot of fun with the characters and the girls loved the motion of the restaurant.

I love the picture of Pluto spending time with Emma...so precious.

The reserved Illuminations spot looks great, and how fun you got to see the Frozen fireworks from that spot and then got to see Wishes while on the monorail and the Electric Water Pageant.

Overall, despite a later start, I think it was a great day for all of you.

And I'm glad the house didn't fall on you all.

GG looks like a hit! I have always had ideas of eating there but now I just can't help booking Via Napoli instead! Peter trying to steal Judi's cake cracks me up. :rotfl:

That sink looks like it doubled perfectly as an infant tub! :thumbsup2

Our house is so old that our city records it as "sometime before 1920". I think that is when they started keeping records. I will say our old house is romantic and has a great soul, but I feel ya on the renovations!

Thanks for the Garden Grill pictures! It sounds a little bit like LTT which is a favorite of mine. I gotta check it out now!

Yikes!! Hoping all is well now with your house and I really hope that it doesn't collapse! :scared1:

Glad you all enjoyed your meal at Garden Grill! Mickey in his farmer's outfit is just too cute.

Wow, what an awesome end to the day! Three fireworks shows! :thumbsup2

I've always been tempted to try Garden Grill -- and your review is moving it up higher on my list! Looks like it was a good meal, with fun character interactions!

Sorry to hear about the house reno issues -- hopefully things will be smooth from here on out!!

When you're a homeowner, it seems like there's always something that needs to be done, doesn't it? And my house is only 24 years old! 1880's! Your home has a lot of history. Glad the issue was caught in time.

I haven't been to Garden Grill since the early 90's and I think it was called The Land Grille back then. That meal looked really good, but with the options in World Showcase, I don't think I could get my husband back there. I can see why it's a great option with kids.

I like that you can get a FP+ for Illuminations now.

Wishes from your room's window! So jealous!

It absolutely does Annie, frustrating at times as just as you think you are getting ahead, something else comes up.

It is really hard with all the options at EPCOT and we normally go during F&WF so at least a meal or two is taken up from sampling the booths. Definitely glad we tried this at least once though and will keep it in mind for future trips if we feel like something like that again - kids definitely enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

Well, to be fair, that night we didn't get back to the room in time to watch Wishes from there (was while we were on the monorail they were going off) - but the concept is wonderful and we caught the Electric Water Pageant a few times.

I'm looking forward to taking G to see Big Hero 6, especially since the Wreck it Ralph meet and greet is getting bumped for a BH6 meet and greet according to something I read here. G had been looking forward to meeting the WIR characters but this movie does look cute!

I love the idea of Garden Grill, isn't on our list this trip but hopefully in the future, great review!

That's too bad that the Big Hero 6 meet is replacing Wreck it Ralph ... would think they could find room for both. There is actually a Wreck it Raph easter egg during Big Hero 6 (you can see a promotional poster for a WIR movie in one of the broad shots of the downtown area.

definitely keep GG in mind! We enjoyed it a lot. Between that and Sanaa we got two restaurants that definitely "made the list"

Fully agree with everything you said about GG - the salad was really good (definitely enjoyed it better than the new lettuce wrap offering at 'Ohana) - but too many choices at EPOCT (guess it is a good problem, but still!)

There is a lot of action and fast moving images in Big Hero 6 but a lot of heart too - I think it is one of the better movies to mix the 2. I could see some people not loving it but I can definitely see people who weren't sure going in coming out really enjoying it :thumbsup2

We definitely enjoyed it Megan, glad you have had positive experiences there too!

Don't let my one post totally change your view on old homes! We really like the charm and character of our home. Just frustrating as we had an engineer spend about 5 hours looking over our home before we bought it, but there is just so much they can't see until you start taking walls down. Just go into it knowing that there will be some surprises to deal with.

I bet they will love Big Hero 6 - so much fun and lots of great lines from Baymax. As an FYI towards the end I heard a girl behind us crying a bit (before the happy ending fully developed) ... and I might have teared up some too ;)

I was a bit perplexed by those spikes - you might be on to something there though Rob. If I ever uncover a creepy looking ventriloquist dummy or the like we are definitely moving!

Rob - I assure you I stole those images via google, not via taking pictures of the movie, thank you very much ;)

I think you would have a blast at the Garden Grill - good characters, good food, changing view! Lots of positives!

I was pretty cool to me too that Disney had 3 high quality night time shows going on practically every night over the summer. They are definitely a highlight of any trip to Disney for me - and I know for you as well.

I hope the renovations your house needs are not overly extensive. I have to admit, I am a big fan of older houses because they are just so cool, but I don't think I could ever own one because I'm lazy!

Well, so far the cost has been less than we thought - I know, famous last words though. Hopefully it stays under control. We are huge fans of older houses too and the character they have - just feels like there is always *something* to deal with and more gets added to the list than taken care of.

The fish was quite good to - especially with the sauce/relish/jam that came with it. We found the tables to be ok, but a family with more adults/older kids could definitely be cramped.

Definitely was a nice way to end the day with seeing multiple firework shows :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear Mark got sick, though guess it is good that it wasn't something tainted with the food or anything. Glad you had good character interactions there and can definitely see the girls enjoying the moving restaurant and changing scenery :goodvibes

We definitely think it was a good spot for watching Illuminations and doubly so that we didn't have to stake out a spot for very long. We normally like to watch more towards the back and then let the crowds thing before we head out, but this time worked out as we just hung around there and watched the end of the Frozen Firewrosk :thumbsup2

That sink looks like it doubled perfectly as an infant tub! :thumbsup2

In some ways I am surprised it stayed on our list :rotfl: I've been holding off on booking Via Napoli (just tend to not be drawn to Italian food at Disney as we have great Italian in our area ... but given you just spent some serious time in Italy and still want to go to Via Napoli, I think we need to give it a try)

I totally didn't notice Peter's face until reviewing the pictures for this update - definitely a good shop that pretty well encapsulates Pistol Pete :rotfl:

That was definitely one positive of those sinks! Actually I think they worked better for that purpose than as normal sinks :rotfl2:

We have a similar thing with our house as the official records are when they put on the addition in the 30's but any inspector would notice that the core of the house was build way before that based on the construction used. We definitely love the character of our house, but it is always something! I think we are getting "character" out of our system with this house :rotfl2:

Definitely check out Garden Grill - I can definitely see the LTT comparison

Yikes!! Hoping all is well now with your house and I really hope that it doesn't collapse! :scared1:

Glad you all enjoyed your meal at Garden Grill! Mickey in his farmer's outfit is just too cute.

Wow, what an awesome end to the day! Three fireworks shows! :thumbsup2

We got enough support in over the weekend that we feel good that the house won't collapse ... now to finish putting it back together :rotfl:

Mickey is very cute in his farmer outfit - I like that it is unique to that spot.

definitely turned out to be a good ending for our last evening in Disney :thumbsup2

Definitely keep Garden Grill in mind! Was definitely a hit for us.

Fortunately things seem to be going smoothly with the fixing the house ... just always something

oh my gosh--i'm glad everything is ok with the house. we have an older house too (about 100 years) and we found lots of surprises when we did some work in the basement.....

garden grill looks so good and so fun! we had a ressie there on a trip awhile back, but we ended up changing it for something else. I can't wait to try it on a future trip!

all the pictures of the kids and the characters are adorable--but I love the one of bathtime-she is just so stinkin' cute!

It's such a love/hate relationship I have with our house. Definitely teaching us what we don't want with the next house though :lmao:

Definitely give Garden Grill a try on future trips - I think you all would enjoy it!

Thanks - she does make a cute sink baby :goodvibes

I hear you on the old houses – ours is over 100 years old and definitely has some issues we’ll need to take care of sooner than later. Can’t beat the character though, right?

Garden Grill looks like something we’ll definitely have to do when Rory is a little older – looks great!

Nice work on the FP+ for Illuminations! Feeling the fire is the best. Nice bonus that you got to see all of the other fireworks, too!

Emma taking a bath in the sink is so cute!

Super bonus night getting to see all those in one night...I didn't even know that was possible.

Oh how I miss the baby fitting in the sink days.

Precious.

I heard the restaurant stopped spinning sometime this summer and that Disney wasn't going to fix it due to the cost. I have no idea if that rumor was true or not, but I'm glad to see it was working just fine for you all that night! I've actually had a reservation here before but cancelled it last minute. That being said, I've been wanting to try the place for awhile now. The food just sounds so fresh there and Farmer Mickey is pretty cool looking.

Your salad looked delicious, and I had no clue that the kids got their own dishes to eat from. (Unfortunately, at this stage in his life, Landon has no desire for "kid's food." Give him the beef!:lmao::rotfl2:)

That photo of Pluto interacting with Emma was too precious. And I couldn't help but laugh at Peter reaching for that piece of chocolate cake in the dessert snapshot. What kid wouldn't react that way to cake?:rotfl:

The IllumiNations FP seemed to be a good thing to have on that particular night. Had to be kind of nice to just walk up to the designated spot and be ready to watch the show minutes later.

Holy moly...IllumiNations, the Frozen Fireworks, Wishes, AND the water pageant in one night! That's every Disney fan's dream. :lmao:

OOOF sorry to hear about the house! I think the conclusion is to buy a new house near Disney…as I try to convince my family once a week or so.

BIG HERO 6 WAS AMAZING! I absolutely loved it and actually wish it had come out a little sooner so I could be Honey Lemon for Halloween. I guess that's what next year is for!

We had a really good experience at Garden Grill and I'm glad you guys did too! Like you said, not necessarily a must-do every trip, but it was a good meal and the characters were so fun.

So cool to see all the fireworks shows in a row!!!

We definitely love the character of our house and wanted to avoid anything "cookie cutter" but just wishe they would invent some sort of x-ray vision to see what really is behind the walls :lmao:

Rory would probably love Garden Grill - just getting to see the Land rotate around you is pretty cool! Not sure what would happen with the food for his dietary needs - but I am sure they have a plan :thumbsup2

We were somewhat surprised they still had FP+ for Illuminations at around 2pm or so, but definitely glad we got it!

Super bonus night getting to see all those in one night...I didn't even know that was possible.

Oh how I miss the baby fitting in the sink days.

Precious.

Neither did we until we saw them all :lmao: Actually from reading some other trip reports it seems like the Frozen Fireworks are visible from a lot of places

Well, not even sure Emma would fit in that sink anymore with how she is growing - but was fun to get to do and made it easy :thumbsup2

Oh wow, I hadn't heard anything about the restaurant not spinning - I definitely would have been bummed if we got there and it didn't spin... very glad that was not the case for us.

One good thing with the food is that it is all you care to enjoy so if Landon ate the beef from the adult platter you can definitely get more.

I totally didn't even notice Peter's face until reviewing the pictures for this update - but definitely sums up Pistol Pete quite well :lmao:

It was very nice to be able to not have to stake out a place for Illuminations and was happy to get one without having to "block" a FP+ for the whole day for it

Definitely felt like we lucked out with seeing them all in one night :goodvibes

Yes, clearly, the conclusion is to move to Florida and buy a new house ... perhaps even a townhouse or condo so I don't have to worry about the maintenance :rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed Big Hero 6 ... I really liked it and am glad there seems to be talk of there being sequels. I've had to fight myself to not go out and get the Hero Baymax Disney Infinity figures :lmao:

Glad you enjoyed Garden Grill - definitely the same view as you on how often it needs to be done. Always good to have options - and that one doesn't seem too hard to get an ADR for

Definitely made for a nice ending to the night :goodvibes
