It's Here!! We're Leaving for WDW!!! Travel Day!!

Have a great time on your ski trip. Just remember that its quality family time and I am sure that you will find some dixie dust and magic. And you can come back and tell us all about it.:goodvibes

Here's some to get you started. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thanks, TiggerandTink, for the pixie dust and the good vibes!! I know we will have a good time now that I have my head on straight! :thumbsup2

Have fun! Be careful and take lots of pictures! Snow pictures make the best scrapbooking pages! :<) If you don't want to ski, you can probably go tubing -- which your kids would no doubt LOVE!

We are enjoying snow-filled days too -- in fact my kids had a snow day today -- and school has already been called off tomorrow! El blizzardo of the decade! DH was stuck out of town, but made it back here a couple of hours ago. Nice to have everyone home safe and sound. Tomorrow's plans include snowboarding in the backyard, hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies (made them tonight, yum!) and Disney Scene It! Gotta get those kids in a Disney frame of mind -- even if they don't know we are going to WDW in April! :<)!!!!!!!!!!

Fairy -- once you get there, I bet you'll love it. No housework, no running the kids here and there, just family time. It'll be great!

Maddie2: Enjoy the day with your kids (sounds like MY kind of snow day!!) and thanks for the good wishes and especially for mentioning pictures....I forgot to pack my camera last night! :scared: If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have any pics to commemorate this momentous occasion: me sprawling down a mountain! :rotfl2:

Well, guys, I am all packed and am up straightening up the house one last time...I just can't stand coming home to a messy house!! Especially if we've been staying at a hotel where someone comes in and cleans up for you everyday!
I just wanted to say adios for the weekend and know that I will be jonesing occasionally to be able to come and check in with you all! Take care and I'll be checking in on Sunday night!
Tumor: I'll miss you, too! Loves to Gunnerboy!

Loving your trip report, can't wait to hear more! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family!

:cool1: <---he's skiing!

Maybe if we northerners think of all that white stuff falling from the sky as pixie dust, it will make it more bearable? :santa:

I am loving your report. Your storytelling skills are wonderful. It is probably one of the skills that makes you a great kindergarten teacher. :cutie:
I am a teacher as well. I used to teach middle school, but for the past ten years, I have been a college instructor teaching future teachers. I enjoy it. We went on our first WDW trip with our kids in 2005. I would love to go again. My DH is not crazy for Disney like I am. :confused3
He has mentioned that we should take the kids back again, unfortunately his idea is not to go for another three years or so! :scared1: I want to go NOW! I am secretely checking into another trip in 2008. I wish it could be in 2007, but I can use all this time to plan! I so enjoy planning a trip! :happytv:

Most of my extended family is not big on Disney either. I have always thought it would be great to experience with WDW with my family and extended family or friends. I think it would be lots of fun. Of course, there can be a few bumps along the way, when you spend lots of time with the family. So, I totally understood your thoughts on traveling in the RV!

I am glad that you realize this weekend with the family snowskiing will be one for making memories as well. Relax and enjoy the time with your DH and kids. :woohoo:

Well, we are officially on our way back from the mountain. Chief let me bring his laptop and I was all excited to be "connected"...then found out that the mountains of Vermont are not the best place for a connection! Oh, well!
We got up to the ski resort late on Friday night after a long drive. Of course we had our normal "shared" driving duties: DH drives until he is about to croak with me making all kinds of small talk, funny noises, and doing whatever else it takes to keep him awake...then he hits rock bottom and asks me to take over. Do I get any small talk? noises? inquiries as to if I'm still awake? Nope! He is asleep in about 2 seconds flat and I found myself squinting through the sudden fog we find ourselves in and clenching about every muscle in my body as I realize that I am driving on slippery roads, in the snow and fog, in the dark, in unfamiliar territory...I wasn't too nice as I smacked DH awake and screamed at him to HELP me, please, to keep an eye out for road signs. What is it with Vermont and sneaky road signs? lol
Needless to say, we made it in one piece and checked into the hotel...er lodge..it was rudimentary at best and I couldn't resist the urge to ask DH "Did they tell you where the concierge lounge is?" lol...WDW this was not.
We were so tired, however, that it didn't matter much that the bed was rock hard, the covers thin, or the facilities not the most modern. We fell asleep quickly and woke up the next morning ready to take on the mountain.
Our friends were kind enough to walk us through the process of renting our equipment and putting on our boots and such and then gave us some pointers to see us through to the lessons we signed up for. By the time we had to meet up for the lessons, three out of the four of us were doing pretty well. Poor Boo just freaked herself out and gave up...but Chief, Lou and I were going down the bunny slope. We had a great time and enjoyed visiting with the other fire department families. Next getaway....WDW!!!!

Well, let me tell you: it is very hard to report to work on Monday morning after a long weekend on the slopes! lol I think it might have been the full moon...or the two cupcakes they had (thanks to a birthday celebration and a different parent who doesn't know the meaning of the word "no")...but the kindergarteners were CRAZY today!!!
We really had a good time this weekend and I have to say, Chief was even comparing the hotel room, the food, the whole experience to our Disney adventures. We are on-the-go-vacationers and were happy to have so much to do on the mountain. The room, however, as I said before left a lot to be desired...he even admitted that it's hard to beat WDW for the continuation of the "magic" from funup to fundown!
Now we are back to counting down the days til Disney and I think now that he has had the chance to do something different, he's got a little better attitude about our upcoming trip...that and the chance to escape real life was pretty sweet! Ready to hear how many more days????

25 more days!!!!!

I saw some Crocs in a store up in Vermont, but I was buckled into my ski boots and didn't want to take the half hour it took me to get them off or on to try them on...I will have to gather up Tumor this weekend and head over to the Sports Authority...saw them there a few weeks ago when I didn't have time to stop to try them on. I just have to see what is the deal with these shoes!

Well, I hope everyone is well...missed you all terribly!!

mdsouth: I hope you get your trip sooner than later, too!! And thank you for your compliment. Tumor and Chief are constantly telling me that I am too long-winded in my story telling...I'll just tell them next time that there are people who actually enjoy my stories! So there!

Marion: I think all that snow was Pixie Dust...I was thinking my good thoughts and the Pixie Dust Snow was falling on me and the next thing I knew..."I'm SKIING!!" :cool1:

Hey there! Welcome home! Glad to hear it went so well -- other than the drive, of course! Driving in the dark in a strange place is no fun at all.

Funup to fundown -- I like that!!

No Disney news here, excited to go, but I'm actually trying not to think about it too much. I am beginning to think that I NEED to tell our boys so I can talk about it -- even though I know it is better if I wait. DH would not be happy with me if I spilled the beans. So, this is for him -- my countdown to TELLING is 27 days! :<)

Better fly, scouts starts in 34 minutes!

Oooo I feel so out of the loop!!! I have been sick with the flu for the SECOND time this year. I missed keeping up with you guys. I am staying home tomorrow again, just to build up a little resistance, hopefully!! Dang snotty five year olds! :)

Funup to fundown is great. I also know someone that named their baby, "Funshine" until she arrived. How cute is that?

Wellllll I am off to get a little rest again.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Maddie2, I know I would be hard pressed to keep the secret...just keep telling yourself that the payoff will be soooo worth it...the look on their faces I'm sure will be priceless!!

Kelly, I am soooo sorry to hear that you have been sick! The flu just plain ol' stinks!!! I think you are right to stay home an extra day...those dang snotty five year olds will just infect you with their next "present"! Take care and we'll look forward to catching up with you more when you get better! Lots of rest, lots of liquids, and I'm sending you lots of :grouphug: !

Hi all! I hope you are feeling better, Panotchr! I hope you were able to get some good rest today so that you can get back in there tomorrow! I'm sure your kindergartners missed their teacher!

What's new in fairyland? How many days 'til you leave? :<) I am so jealous! I remember being excited to go on our last WDW trip (3 yrs ago), but that was our first family trip there and we didn't really know what to expect. Now that I DO know what is waiting for us, it is even more difficult to be patient!

Our new camera arrived today! I am SO pysched about it. The coolest part about it is that it was absolutely FREE!!!!! Actually, I won a $250 Best Buy gift card last fall and used that. New stuff is fun, but new, FREE stuff is even funner (sorry, teachers, I just had to say it!). Now to figure out all the buttons and special aperature thingys, etc. Wish the battery charger would charge faster! My NEXT WDW scrapbook is going to be even better than the one I am currently working on!

Have a great week!

Maddie 2: Not too much new in fairyland! I am upset that our dog woke me up at 3:00 am and then I couldn't go back to sleep. Rather than lie there and toss and turn, I got up and piddled around a bit...ended up coming onto the DIS and typing an answer earlier and something happened when I posted it and the server was "too busy"...needless to say, I now can't for the life of me remember what I wrote (it seemed quite marvelous this morning, too! :rotfl: ) especially now that all my brain cells are just plain puckered up with a lack of sleep! BUT...it's now only 22 more days til WDW!!!! I do remember that I wrote something about not being sure how to count the days down...do you count the day you travel? (I usually don't) Do you count the day you are in? (again...I usually don't) Anywho, it's coming! it's really coming!!!! I have sooo much to do. Tumor is getting all her summer clothes out right now...I haven't touched ours yet. This weekend I will be home waiting for some furniture to finally be delivered (long story...I have HORRIBLE luck with furniture purchases), so I hope to get up the gusto to tackle some beginning phases of packing.

Congrats on your new FREE camera! I'm so jealous! Drive everyone nuts with it!

Well, I am off to beddy-by-bo ... this kindergarten teacher is just tuckered out! I'll try to think of more witty and insightful things to say tomorrow...hee, hee...me? witty and insightful? Aren't I full of myself?!

Hey there everyone!

I hope you are all having a good week. The weather here is cold and we have tons of snow ..... white, white everywhere. I am ready to see things in COLOR! The whiteness of it all is made more bearable knowing that we will be seeing tons of color (everywhere!!) when we go to WDW in 41 DAYS!!! I think I am starting my official countdown. :<)

Fairy -- the same thing happened to me last night. I was on here and wrote an equally witty reply, and POOF!.... it disappeared! I was interrupted while I was typing, so it took me a while to complete the post ... there must be some sort of timer on this website. It automatically signs you out after a certain amount of time. Frustrating.

So, to insure that this post makes it ... I'll hit "submit reply" now!

Oh, and BTW, countdown to WDW is 41 days, but countdown to telling our boys is only 23 days. I can't wait for those "aha!" moments .... "THAT'S WHY you wanted the new camera", "THAT'S WHY we had to try on our summer clothes", "THAT'S WHY you've been wanting to watch all the Disney movies", etc! I just know that DS12 will say "I knew it all along" .... yeah, sure. They are quite perceptive, but I do think we are doing a good job of keeping the secret.

I am having tons of fun with the new camera!! Our old one was pretty simple and basic, but this one has lots of bells and whistles to learn about!

Hi, guys! My everyday life kinda took over for a bit...been busy at work with the little ones. We're doing farm unit this month (LOTS of fun!) and have decided to perform a play for the school the week before vacation...soooo I have plenty to keep my mind occupied as the days tick down to WDW!!

How many now? Let's see....19 more days!!!! Now, some purists might say to me "WRONG!...there are really 20 more days...because you have to count either today or the day you leave!" Phewy on them, I say!

I am sitting here waiting for my new living room furniture to be delivered. Why can they never give you a more specific time? "Sometime between 10 and 3" just is a pain! I know they never know, but wouldn't it be great if they could come up with some paging system...like give your cell phone a call when they are a stop or two ahead of yours? Can I Fastpass this delivery and come back when it is convenient for me? I guess not! Oh, well...I shouldn't complain...at least they are finally bringing the stuff. Oh, they have already been here once before in January...delivered the wrong furniture...and here I've been since...waiting...waiting...waiting. I do have terrible luck with furniture buying!

Anywho, I really should be going through the girls summer/spring clothes to see what still fits them...probably nothing. Boo has shot up like a rocket and I'd be willing to bet that her clothes from last year won't come close to fitting her. And Lou, too, has grown, but just up...so I don't even think Boo's old clothes will fit her (perhaps the shirts) as she is just too skinny to keep the pants up!

Speaking of Lou...I could throttle her! Took her to the dentist on Wednesday afternoon to find out that two of her fillings had come loose...they fixed them...and last night she decided to eat popcorn kernels...yes! popcorn kernels!...you know the ones that sit at the bottom of the bowl and are the "duds"?...yep! Those!...and pulled out her brand new filling when one got stuck in her teeth!!!!!:sad2: :sad2:   :headache: :headache:
She is going to give me fits, this one!

Well, I guess I should go make sure the dog hasn't chewed up anything...he's quiet...too quiet right now! Having a 9 month old puppy in the house is like having a toddler! He's into EVERYTHING!! lol

Panotcher, I hope you are feeling better! Maddie2, keep up the good work keeping your secret! Tumor, I can't believe you are going out with other friends today! Why aren't you sulking with me about having to wait for my furniture? lol

Hi! I think I am back and better. I still have that horrible sounding cough, but I did teach again on Wednesday of this week. Our internet was down until yesterday and I was having serious withdrawals.

We are frantically painting rooms today and organizing. The for sale sign goes up at 4 pm tomorrow.

I think 19 days sounds wonderful. We have 53 more days of school. I am counting that down first because my Disney trip is still in the 100's. OUCH!

Hope everyone is having a beautiful Saturday. It is 68 here and beautiful.

:)

We have 69 total school days left...are you counting weekends in your 53 days? Our last day is June 22.
I'm so glad you are feeling better and I wish you the best of luck in selling your house!

Well, I managed to get out today and get to Old Navy and Target. Of course I did the bonehead thing of leaving my checkbook at home, so I was limited to spending what money I had on me...:rolleyes1 . I know you may be thinking what Tumor thinks of the fact that I still use handwritten checks instead of a check card...I'm not living in the present. I just haven't taken the time to go down and fill out the paperwork at the bank to get one...that and when Chief and I got married (working on 14 years ago now...OMG!), we did have an ATM card and being young and stupid we kept running into the problem of not being able to pay this bill or that bill because it had just been too easy to go to the ATM the weekend before to get money to go out to eat or to the movies. So, we cut up the ATM card about a year after we got married and haven't had one since. I guess I should give ourselves a little more credit now (no pun intended!:rotfl2: ) and just go get a check card.

Anywho, the girls and I managed to get a couple of outfits for our trip. Shopping with Boo was different this trip...everything I picked up she politely turned her nose up at, she didn't give anything pink a second look, didn't want any flowers anywhere...just brown, green, and blue, please. At least she was polite, but not that perky "oh, I love that, mom!" I guess the puberty bug has landed in the house. She's growing up....:sad1: I am curious as to how she'll be on this trip...she goes between her childlike silly self and her quiet, almost sullen self seemingly without warning and in a blink of an eye. I am just going to keep being my insane self and hope I don't warp her for good. I came home and put the new clothes right into the suitcase so I guess that means that I am officially beginning to pack!!! YIPEE!!!:cool1:

I have a busy week ahead of me but I hope I will have some time to go through all the clothes that are put away to see what's Disney-worthy. I don't know why, but I refuse to take anything that isn't stain-free or that doesn't look really, really good...I guess because we'll be taking so many pictures to remember the trip by and I don't want to obsess over the fact that Lou's shorts have a big grass stain on the butt because she occasionally likes to scoot across the lawn like a dog trying to satisfy an itch "back there."

So, I'm really picky about the clothes we wear to visit the Mouse. Part of the magic for me is the fact that I don't hear any complaints while we're there about the girls having their hair done or what outfits I have laid out for them...We shall see if that holds true during this trip!

Well, it's getting late...later than it feels thanks to the time change and I can't use the excuse that I forgot to set my clocks forward tomorrow at work...speaking of which, wouldn't it be fun if they did have the time change on a Sunday night? We could all use that hour on Monday morning and what's the big deal? They could get it back in the fall when we "forget" to set the clock back....but something tells me we wouldn't forget to do that!
So, I'm off to bed for some Disney dreamin' and smiling knowing that our trip is now only 18 days away!!!!!

Our last day of school is June 8 and I am only counting actual days my behind has to be in my classroom!! :)

This hour is going to kill my kids tomorrow. My own children had a hard time settling down tonight.

My husband is flying to Orlando tomorrow to meet with a customer and I am SO STINKING JEALOUS!!!!!! He is staying in a hotel in Lake Buena Vista and I have asked (begged, coerced) him into going to find Port Orleans Riverside and taking pictures for us. I have also politely begged him to get the girls new autograph books while he is there at Downtown Disney. I am not sure he will fulfill that request, but a girl can try can't she?

We signed the papers with the realtor today and tomorrow she is taking pictures of our lovely home. :) We must be nuts because we have killed ourselves to get this house ready in 6 days.

Well, I downloaded a ticker and we officially have 142 days until our Disney trip. Oh well, something to look forward to.

We are doing a farm unit this week and we did a week of Dr. Seuss last week. We will also be looking for a little leprechaun on Friday. Our spring break starts on April 6 and we are going to Washington, DC to see my brother and his family. It should be beautiful there then.

Everyone have a wonderful week.

I'm just getting caught up on my reading tonight after a week away from home for work. My work computer "caught" a couple major viruses and I had the IT guy freaking out all over me so I didn't dare venture to the internet after he had just gotten it cleaned up so needless to say I am really behind.

Glad to hear that your back from your ski trip and had a nice time. I hate driving at night, especially in unfamiliar territory, add in that fog and ice and I would have been an absolute mess! Glad you made it there safely.

Wow - it must be 18 days to go now right? I love disney math and the countdown. You are getting so close now. And packing has started, that always makes a trip seem closer and more real. I am excited for you and can't wait to hear about the whole thing.
