It's Going To Be A Jolly Olly Holiday In Disney PTR I've got one foot out the door!!

Awww thats amazing honey!!! :goodvibes

Wonderful surprise for hubby and lulu will have a great time too :cool1:

Thanks! I hope she doesn't get too nervous! She says now that she will be fine! I can't wait...it's one of the things I am most looking forward to!

What a great surprise! :thumbsup2

Thanks!!!

OHHH I can not wait for pics of this!!! What night are you doing this?! Now I know your secret and I am going to have to be quiet about it over breakfast if it is after our AK day!

I will probably blind them with my flash going off constantly!! LOL I am not 100% sure yet which night...it's between two...but it will definitely be before our AK day! You will be able to see the pix before anyone else!

AWESOME surprise! I am so amazed that they would let you do something like that...everyone is complaining about how so much magic has left Disney, but it's things like this that make me thing that there is so much magic left IN Disney. Can't wait to hear all about that..better bring a camera!

Thanks! I was super surprised not only that they would let her do it, but that they actually offered it up! I know...everyone is saying about the magic leaving Disney...but there are so many people to please...they can't hit everyone on a daily basis! Just being there is magical enough for me! But, this actually doesn't even have anything to do with Disney. They are a seperate group. Everything there is Irish...the whole building (except for the toilets) can from Ireland. All the wood, bricks...everything! Just a little fact I thought I'd share! Sorry for veering off the path there. But, either way, I do feel that there is still plenty of magic...sometimes you have to really open your eyes to it. We as a whole society run through life with tunnel vision and at such a rapid pace, we don't take the time to enjoy life's little experiences!!! If more people were like you are and believing that there has GOT TO BE some magic left, they would find it! And, yes...I will absolutely be taking plenty of pix!!!!

Oh my gosh how awesome is that!? What an amazing surprise and an awesome experience that is going to be!!

I am soooo excited! It should be extremely awesome...as long as everything works out just the way I am planning.

Wow, that's a wonderful surprise for J-Pa and a magical experience for Lulu. I hope that you record the moment on video to share with us. :goodvibes

Thank you! I will try to record and at the very least take a bunch of pix!

What an awesome surprise :goodvibes

Thank you so much!

wow!!! WONDERFUL surprises!!! Dreams really do come true!

Thanks! It will be a great experience for her!

That is so freakin' cool!!!! I am so excited for you, and Lulu, and J-Pa. That is going to be so amazing, and what a special memory for all of you.

On a side note, one of my sorority sisters is an Irish dancer, and she too started when she was young. Now she teaches and completes! I love to see her all dressed up in her Irish dancer outfit, just so cool!!

Thank you! I am actually expecting him to tear up a bit...he is pretty soft when it comes to the kids...under the hard outside.

It really is a great form of dance...different than all the other types that are offered. Your college is in Long Island also?? I know it is a pretty big thing there. In fact, our school's dresses are from there. We have to go there to have them made and the girls measured, etc. It is great to see them all dressed up isn't it? They look like little dolls! A lot of people are saying some negative things about it...comparing it to pageants. It does not hurt the girls. There is a bit more involved in their costumes than in other types of dance, but that's really it. Sorry for the rant...it was just on my mind!

I love it! I wish I was there to see it! How special for her to be able to do that!

Thanks! I will be sure to take enough pix that you will virtually experience it after in my TR!

omg what a great surprise for J-Pa!! I hope you are able to get some video of Lulu dancing up there with Danielle!! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 WOO HOO! :thumbsup2

That is going to be something you all will always remember. I'm just happy and excited for you. That is something I would love to see myself. I have always loved Irish dancers. I'm so looking forward to your TR when you get back, that is going to be a great story.

My college was actually in NJ, well is, but I have been graduated for some years now. My sorority sister is from NJ too and I know she would compete throughout the state!

NO WAY!!! Nothing like a beauty competition AT ALL!! This is an art for, more so than regular dance I think.

Thanks! I will definitely try to get video, but for sure pix! I am hoping they turn out...it's pretty dark in there!

Aww! Thanks so much! It will be something we will always remember! I am not looking forward for the trip to be over, but am looking forward to the TR!! Just hopefully I can get another ticker sooner than later!

Oh. Well, we have been to NJ several times for a feis. Maybe we have been in the same place as your sorority sister and didn't know it!!! LOL

Thanks! I agree! They do get made up a bit, but it is just different! Yes...those girls (and boys) get their feet moving like wildfire!!!

So, to continue throwing in a little personal off-topic update every now and then...let me tell you about Poot's first day of Kindergarten!

I got him up early enough to have pancakes for his first day breakfast. Now, he had been counting down the days to school for what seemed like forever. So, I expected him to jump right up and out of bed when I went to wake him. NOPE!!!!! He stretched and rolled back over. I said "It's time to get up and ride the bus." He said "Later." After a bit of coaxing, he got up and dressed himself. I was down in the kitchen making pancakes for him and Lulu. (Gwad leaves two hours before them.) Poot loves pancakes, so I knew he'd have no problem finishing them with some time to spare.

After the yummy pancakes, they both went into the bathroom and brushed their teeth and put the finishing touches on the "first day look".

This is when it started! I could feel my stomach start to turn, my legs begin to get jello-y, my eyes get watery and my heart race. My little baby boy was going to be leaving me for the first time! I know this sounds dramatic, but he's the last one and the one I spent the most time with. See, I worked when I had the other two. It was only when Gwad was 5 that I stayed home. Anyway, I was going to be brave and not let Pooty see me nervous. (I didn't want it to rub off on him.)

Well, about 10 minutes before the bus was scheduled to come, we headed out the door. (They ask you to be out early the first week until schedules are worked out.) It was good timing for me to take some pictures. I got a picture of each kid alone and then together. I didn't get one of Gwad as he is in Jr. High and that is a no no!

Here is Poot:

And, here are Poot and Lulu together:

So, after some waiting, the bus pulled up. I remained calm and watched my little boy go off on his own. He turned for one quick wave good-bye and that was it.

He got on that bus like he has done it 1,000 times before! After watching the bus drive off down the road, J-Pa and I turned and walked back the driveway to the house. He looked over at me and saw my tears. And, being the sweet, comforting and loving husband that he is, said "You are a great big baby!" (Don't worry...the look I shot him nearly knocked him over!)

Now, typically I would be watching my nephew on a weekday. But, my BIL and SIL had taken him to Baltimore for the weekend. So, I had the house to myself. J-Pa went to bed (works nights) and even the dogs went to bed with him! I can't tell you when the last time was that I had a day with just me!? What do you think I did? Relaxed, watched movies, went on DIS, took a bath? Of course not! I CLEANED!!!! Yep...exciting, huh!? I was able to get a lot done though. Then before I knew it, it was time for the bus to be coming home.

I ran out and greeted Poot at the end of the driveway. I couldn't wait to hear about his big day! The first thing out of his mouth?? "Well, at least I didn't go to the Principal's office today." Out of the mouths of babes, right? All I could say back was "Thank god for small favors."

And, that my friends is the story of Poot's first day in Kindergarten!

A little side note in my defense: when Lulu and Gwad started Kindergarten, the parents attended the first day with them. We rode the bus and everything. They were only half day. Now it is full day and no more mom and dad going the first day. At least with the other two, going with them the first day eased me into it!

Aw...I felt myself getting teary eyed reading your story

I am glad he had a good first day

Hugs to you

siiigh! Seems like just yesterday I put Jimmy on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten, his book bag too big for him, his new pressed clothes, white, unstained sneakers. Your story brought me to tears, those first day memories stick with you, we never forget the day our babies go away without us, even if it is just to kindergarten, there's no getting that time back.
This June I will watch my son walk at graduation and probably feel those same feelings I did when he first stepped on that bus. OMG! I wanna go hug him right now. I'm such a sap.
Anyway, we're with ya, we know how you feel, glad he had a good first day.

I am going to be a HAWT MESS when Madi goes off to school... that hug's for you!!!

Awww!! Poot looked too cute with his big backpack and cute little smile. And I just had to laugh at the fact that the highlight of his day was not going top the principal's office!!

So glad Poot had a great first day of school! The pictures are so cute and poo on J-Pa for making that meany comment to you. Glad you shot him an evil look back  That's great that you were able to get so much done while they were at school. :goodvibes

I have been soo bad about checking up on you! Poot looks like he had a great first day. I was kind of like "later" on the first day of school myself!

Awww...I'm glad that he had a good first day! :)

Thanks! He really loves school...for now! LOL

I know! I can hardly believe my oldest will be in high school next year as it too seems like only yesterday he was in Kindergarten! At least I have the pix to last forever!

Graduation...forget it! I'll be a bawl bag! Then...the wedding! I even have a song picked out for Gwad and I to dance to at his wedding! On the same note, J-Pa does get sentimental sometimes...he also has a song picked out for him and Lulu at her wedding! LOL Those are both far in the future!

Thanks for the support!

I am going to be a HAWT MESS when Madi goes off to school... that hug's for you!!!

It is SUCH A BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!! Cherish her now...some day she will be a big girl and THAT SUCKS!!! I guess it's not that bad, I just miss him! Thanks for the hugs though!

Awww!! Poot looked too cute with his big backpack and cute little smile. And I just had to laugh at the fact that the highlight of his day was not going top the principal's office!!

Thanks! Yeah...he will have to grow into that backpack! It was pretty funny that he even KNEW that it was good not to go to the Principal!!!! Fingers crossed he won't be there at all! But, he is the one that we question! He isn't a bad kid, just a lot of energy and all boy!!!

So glad Poot had a great first day of school! The pictures are so cute and poo on J-Pa for making that meany comment to you. Glad you shot him an evil look back  That's great that you were able to get so much done while they were at school. :goodvibes

He did! Thanks! Yep...J-Pa got his payback!!!!! It was nice to get so much done, but after I really thought "why didn't I just relax?"

Catching up. What a great surprise you have in store for DH. My DH is Irish too, and he would love for R to take Irish dance, but she's totally uncoordinated.

Look how cute Poot is on his first day. The day R started kindergarten, the oldest started high school, second DS started middle school and little son started Jr PreK. I need a Xanax that day.

No worries! I was wondering if everything was ok...didn't hear anything from you for a while...even on your PTR and TR!!!! Glad you are back!

Thanks! I'm excited for this!

He is my little man! I felt like that this year with their birthdays...all of them are within two weeks of each other and they hit 5 (schoolage), 10 (double digits) and 13 (teenager). All milestone birthdays for them and grey hairs for me!

Hello Disbuddies! This installment is going to be all about ideas I have for surprises for the kids. I am really undecided on several things here and would love opinions both from those with and without kids. I know sometimes it is better to get an opinion of someone who doesn't have kids yet...to see if I'm going overboard!

Anyway! I am planning to do some sort of surprise packs for the kids during our trip.

Decision #1: Do I do a daily morning surprise when they wake up? Do I do one when we get there and I have everything included? Do I do it every other day? Do I do one when we get to POR and then one when we get to AKV?

Here is what I am planning on using for the surprises for each kid: $10 Disney Dollars, a $10 Disney gift card (I know repetitive, but just for an extra thing), a few pins, an autograph book, a pen, some sort of other Disney trinket, a new lanyard, and a Disney lollipop or other treat.

Decision #2: Do I give each kid the same thing? (Gwad isn't as into the pins anymore or autograph collecting.) Do I just give Lulu and Poot this stuff and give Gwad cash to do what he wants with it?

Decision #3: Is there anything I should add or cut out?

Decision #4: Do I make this from DH and I or a bit of pixie dust?

I plan to use Disney font to make letters to each kid if I do the pixie dust idea. I'll just do it at home and bring it with me.

Any help anyone can give me is welcome! Thanks so much!

(Keep in mind that each kid will come with their own spending money so the $20 would not be all they had to spend.)
