It's getting pretty scarey here!!! (hurricane related)

Just wanted to say that all you Floridians are in our prayers. My in-laws live in Holiday, a bit north of Tampa, they said the stores are packed. My sister lives in Daytona Beach, they had approx. 6 inches of water in their basement to clear out after Frances, not to mention many downed tree limbs. They are just in shock at the possibility of getting hit yet again :( . I wish Ivan would take a sharp east turn under Florida & head far out into the Atlantic!

We should start a new thread. "Hurricane Gourmet".

LOL!!! I love that thought!

Christine if you change your mind you KNOW you are more than welcome and you would make a :earseek: soon to be teenager's year!!

Oh and Deja would fit in just fine with all these other babies!!!!!

PLEASE let the possible error in this map move it more west.

I like the trend the maps have been taking at each update today. Each one moving it a little further west.

This particular map is good for WDW, but still bad for the Gulf Coast:

Well I definatly like this map better than the one moving it directly over Tampa!!

I'm so sorry, that just came out totally wrong! I hope the whole thing dies!!!!

I have really really close friends and sisters in Tampa and I was thnking of them! That came out totally wrong!

Stay safe ANYONE in Ivan's path.

:grouphug:

:worried: My sister in law's brother recently moved to FL with his new wife and stepdaughters. They have not been able to live in their home for weeks (no power) and have been staying with a kind co-worker. This new threat with Ivan is causing them great despair.

Everyone in FL has nothing but hopeful thoughts and good wishes coming from me and my family!

There's a BASEMENT in FLORIDA???

No problem Beauty. Only human to wish it away from loved ones-I find myself doing the same thing.
I pray the thing dies out or spins off into nowhere.

Missy-some people do have basements here-I did as a child.

Cruisin...if you want to heat that soup and spaghettios, you'll need some sterno or something like that.

Also, at Sam's today they had the little packages of chicken salad in a can with crackers.

I was at the Dollar Tree today and they had those little packages of chicken salad and tuna salad with crackers. They were Bumblee Bee brand, I believe.

Please everyone, stay safe! :grouphug:

Prayers to those in the path of Ivan.
Having just been through Francis- I would leave the state.

Something that was invaluable to me sitting in the heat and humidity after Francis- a misting fan. You've seen Disney sell them for $17. I got mine at Walmart and Target for about $8. They run on 2 AA batteries. And you can usually find AAs even AFTER the hurricane hits. You don't have to spray the water part. You have a fan that runs on AA batteries. It saved dd and I after Francis.

Well, it's more like a 1/2 basement I guess. You walk in her back door and either go up approx. 6 steps into the kitchen, or down approx. 6 steps into the "basement". I love her house, it's old but beautiful! Not sure I'd want to live in Florida though :( .

I talked to Bet earlier today, she said it was really crazy there in Tampa today, more-so that the two previous.'s Chrissi, and all affected.

We got out of FL on Sat before Frances hit and I can't imagine being there now....I keep bugging DH to move there but.....I think I'll stick with the cold winters just a bit longer.

Pixie Dust and great big  to all. Please stay safe.

More people are talking about getting out of Florida for this storm than I can ever remember in my 10 years of living here. Even my DW wanted to drive to NC to her parents. But we are staying firm in our faith and will ride out Ivan. GO AWAY IVAN!

My DD (6) made a drawing last night and wrote on the very top "No Ivan", she drew our house and what looked like a funnel cloud (tornado) coming down on a tree. She taped the drawing on our back door. :(

Everyone, stay safe. Try to take care of whatever you have to do now, evacuate if ordered to do so or if you don't feel safe where you are.

Bet, remember that map of the track of the storm/projected path that you posted during Frances? Can you pm me the name of the web site or maybe post it? TIA
