It's early...but October 2016??? Discount Watch!

I booked for late October (check in 10/20). Hopefully there will be a discount, but my main concern is crowd levels. My dates are semi-flexible, but who knows what week is better than another! I have scoured crowd calendars, plus last year's October wait-time stats, etc. Last year the crowd predictions underestimated actual October crowds, sometimes by a lot. So it's hard to know.

Following.....

We are going 10/29-11/7. Hoping to go to MNSSHP on 10/30 or 10/31 and I will be running in the Lumiere Challenge for Wine & Dine. Since they moved the race from Saturday night to Sunday morning, we had to extend our trip a day. We will also be there for DS 10th birthday. Currently booked at Caribbean Beach. Hoping for FD, but after seeing the possible leaked dates, not keeping my hopes up. Just hoping for any discount at this point. If they don't offer anything through the general public, I'll reach out to rundisney and see what they offer.

I'm crossing my fingers for a room only discount in late October (specifically the 20th through the 25th). The more money we save, the more we have to spend at Disney doing other things.

I'm hoping for room only at the end of October. Does anyone know if they've offered one the past few years or how it has correlated to the bounce back? Wondering if one will be offered since the dates aren't included in bounce back. Considering staying off site if no discount if offered. :(

I have a group of girlfriends hoping to go in late October (26-30)! A bit shocked (and sad) that the rumoured Free Dining does not include these dates...but we'll see, maybe we'll get lucky! Otherwise, holding out for room discount and paying out of pocket for food. I've gotten DDP on a short stay and it was so much food, so I know if I pay for food out of pocket I won't be ordering what the plan offers. If I have to work to make the plan a good value...is it really a good value? LOL!

Well I'm a day late for the 'back to school' discounts. I only need one night at the Polynesian but of course they don't have the discount for my date.

Hopefully some of you can benefit from the discounts.

I was online yesterday about 2 hours after the discounts were announced, and the only discounts still available for Pop Century for my dates (10/20-26) were for preferred/pool view... which even with the discount, would cost slightly more than my standard room that I had already booked.

I can't remember the last time I went to Disney without a room discount, but so be it! Gosh, I remember going as a Florida resident in 2006 for $50-something a night at the All Stars...

There is no discount availability at all for my dates right now. 10/30-11/5 at AoA (suite). Yesterday there was, now... nothing. Weird.

No discount for the Poly for my October dates either. I have never went to Disney without some kind of discount. Wonder why they have no FD for Oct except for 10/1.

Yesterday I was able to book with the back to school room discount for 10/28-10/31 at the BWI, not the room we really wanted though, but today I got a pin code email and was able to switch to the room we really wanted at the BWI. SO excited!!

I too are staying at Pop Century, called today (3 days after announcement), no discounts at all. I guess it's my own fault for not reading the news properly for 3 days, but I would have thought the discounts wouldn't sell out so fast.

Might be worth your while to keep checking online. Yesterday, there were no room only discounts for my dates in any room category. Today, there are preferred room discounts available. Which is not what I need, since my standard room is still cheaper than a discounted preferred room, but just throwing it out there that it may benefit you to keep trying if you are looking for a preferred room discount.

Yeah, thanks for the tip.

Now I'll just need to add resort discounts to my hourly routine to check, in additions to those ADRs haha

It's a pain!! Disney does not make it easy on us that's for sure. Good luck!

Well, after a day of checking. I was able to get discounts on both my rooms on Pop Century. Switching from Standard Room to Standard Room with Pool View.

For those people still checking, I would use the website on the mobile (not the app, but the mobile website), there would be times where I would do the same search on both my computer and on the phone, and the computer would show no discounts available, but on my mobile, there would be discounts available. So I applied both my rooms with the discounts on the phone.

Other minor things I've encountered was that
- Going to the main discount page on Disney website shows no discounts available for Pop Century, but going into "My Reservation" and change my reservation, I was able to see discounts, again, only my the mobile website, not the desktop version
- I applied the discounts on both my rooms, I've only gotten the confirmation email on one of the reservation (even though both times, I got the confirmation screen after booking)
- After applying the discounts, I tried to confirm whether the discounts were apply, sometimes it shows me the discounts were applied, but if I refresh the page, it shows the discounts were applied, then refresh, the discount disappears.

So after that, I called Disney at 7am EST, and got the cast member to check for me, and indeed the discounts were applied.

Sorry for the long post, I hope my posts will help the people still out there to book the discounts, use the mobile website.

Now I can concentrate on my ADRs now haha

Our friends just got free dining in CB, but now it's not available for us (we're traveling together) :( I'll have to keep checking even more obsessively now!
