Be nice to Dawn and try really hard to not talk about your ex with her if you speak again. Talk only about Maddy and make small talk, but you say anything bad about him and she gets all lovey with him again she will spill all where if she likes you and can identify with your love for Maddy it can hopefully help you. She could influence him to treat you better.
