it's been a long time

I has been a long time since I have been to Disney and I am taking my 8yr old and 10 yr old kids June 8-13. Any advice would be helpful. How busy should I expect it to be? I think we are going to stay in the POR. I am also thinking it's smart to go with the passes that include the waterparks. Thanks for you help

Okay, great! It is a best bet in my book to stay onsite. Your transportation is all set. I haven't stayed at POR. Check out www.allearsnet.com for additional hotel info and dining menus. And certainly ask for POR tips right here on these FABULOUS Boards.

My advice is to start your days early. Honestly, my family got soooooooooooooooooooooo much done on our early start days. We would enjoy a park and then lunch early, (make your PSs) and then head back to our resort for a swim and/or get on your bed, off your feet kind of rest. Then we would be raring to go again after 4 p.m.

Hi! We always go at the very end of May, early June. In fact, we will be there from June 2 - 11 this year. I've seen it range from not very crowded at all to very, very crowded.

We wouldn't think of going without waterpark passes. We LOVE both of the parks, but TL especially. It really helps us if we plan to just do the waterpark thing at least every two days or so.

I've never stayed at POR so I can't help you there. It came in 2nd place for this trip, though. It seems like a really nice resort.

The main thing to remember is to pace yourself. Plan on taking as many rest breaks as possible. The heat, humidity, rain, and sometimes crowds can really get to you when you're tired!

We have been two times in June. It can be hot with showers, but they normally don't last very long. Take advantage of Extra Magic Hours since you will be staying on site. We always get to a park early and leave before noon when it starts getting hot and crowded. We then go to another park later in the day when it starts to cool down. Also take advantage of Fast Passes. Make sure everyone drinks a lot of water in the heat, even if they are not feeling thirsty. You do not want to get dehydrated.

We have visited WDW in early June the past three years and will be there June 2-11 this year. The crowds have not been too bad although last year was more crowded than in previous visits. It will rain every day so be prepared--normally the showers are brief and then the sun comes back out. If at all possible stay on site and take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours--like the others said, you can go early, head back to the room for a rest/swim and then venture back out. Drink LOTS of water and use LOTS of sunscreen. We usually plan one sit down meal per day so we can take a break and enjoy the air-conditioning If Spectromagic and Fantasmic! are offered twice in one evening, go to the second one; it is a lot less crowded and you won't spend precious park time waiting for a seat. Plan on staking out a spot for Wishes and Illuminations 1.5-2 hours ahead of time. Take advantage of FastPass, too.
On our first visit we stayed at POR and loved it. It did take us a few days to figure out the easiest way to get to our room. Have fun and welcome to the DIS
