It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

Never say never... I just got an email from Betty! She said it may be several weeks before Disney Parks contact me but I sure hope not! Very eager to see if I can still use our original dates (and ADRs!)

Congratulations!!!! We just got our email from Disney yesterday to set up the details of the trip, and won Jan 14th, so it did take a few weeks. They said they book the transportation and resort within "a couple weeks" of receiving our questionnaire.

Since our last winner was notified Friday for the 26th of January we have 5 more winning entries to wish upon a star for!!

There is a possibility that some people who won earlier than that haven't been notified because the blizzards probably kept Betty Woods from the office. So there could be more notified further into the month of Feb. but they could have been notified the same day as some of the other winners. We don't know how many people Betty emails during a certain day so there's a little more hope. Does that make sense? o_O

I'm too cold to be that optimistic. :love2:
:cold: I can't see what that is but it looks cold like me. LOL

I just keep telling myself that if I don't win a vacation then there is something else I'm suppose to be doing at that time.
And that someone else is going to have a blast with their child(ren).

So tomorrow, when I learn bi-location, I'll be at Epcot at rope drop. I think I'll head right over to Soarin and get a nice early morning ride.
Then I'll scoot over to Figment to see how he is doing. Any suggestion on where I should have breakfast?
I know for lunch I'll be over at the QS near Rose and Crown to have my fish and chips. I just wish the birds were not so loud. LOL But I love sitting over near the water in the sun.

I think on Monday I'm gonna gonna find a nice place to eat some Mickey waffles outside. I'd love the with some scrambled eggs and bacon.
Not sure which park we will go to after because I haven't looked at the crowd charts yet. pixiedust:
:beach: oh wait pool side might be nice too.
Lots of yawns going on here. Good night all. Keep dreaming. You just never know when that dream will come true.
Right winners?

Yes of course! January 26th - it was my birthday if you can believe it! Whoever won first must have not responded right? Its been way too long since then..! How long has it been taking to hear from Disney Parks? It still doesn't feel real yet.. even though Betty sent the original email, then the one with the affidavit that I filled out and had a notary sign and then sent the congratulations and that Disney Parks would contact me! Please say I am good to go now!!!!

Awesome - congrats!!! That is so cool that you won on your birthday! My DH's birthday is 1/28 so maybe we'll have the same luck and he'll get a winning email soon as well ;)

Have fun with all your planning!

Ohhhh my... lol. If we are on the same schedule then we won't hear until my current FP+ selection day... which is also my last day to cancel our flights without penalty. Then I only have two weeks after that to cancel our packages without two more penalties (my parents are on one package and I'm on another so that'd be another $400 wasted)! Are you in the facebook group...? I asked to join but haven't heard back yet - curious if ~23 days is par for the course so far or if there is hope of being able to do this smartly. I have trip insurance, which includes cancellation and such but sadly winning a sweepstake and needing to cancel within the penalty window is not covered. ;)

Oh happy birthday to him also! I hope you guys hear back this week! :3

Hmm just a thought.....DH and I was talking about this last night.
Do you think that you will need to cancel that flight either way because Disney will not give you the money to reimburse you for the flight? My assumption (and i could eat crow) is that they have accounts with the airlines for deals and that they will be using their own to get you to Florida. So on that note, your choice is to plan two vacations or cancel this one and wait to see when you can get your winning vacation scheduled.

Granted I've never won anything like this (I only ever recall winning a tone your abs contraption) so there is just assume on my part. Most specifically because I don't see them giving you your money for something you already paid for. Again wishing you Pixie Dust it works out the way you want but I'm thinking lucky you as you potentially are in the run for 2 vacations. :-) LOL that would be my story to justify too. :lmao:

Congratulations to the 6 winners of this site. I hope everyone has magical trips coming up! I will continue to throw my name in to every contest out there. Also, the Powerball is over $400 million coming up this Wednesday. A girl can dream, right?

Congratulations AquaDame! I guess that makes six winners on the Dis! Congratulations again to Iri920, Reality to FANTASY, DisneySide, DisneyDreamer421! I’m still hoping for a few more winners in the next few days!

We received an email and the questionnaire from Disney last week. Between the final congratulations email from Ventura and the email from Disney, it was 17 days.

For AquaDame, check your PM. I think RejoiceoverDisney might be right that you may have to either (1) cancel your upcoming trip and take the sweepstakes vacation or (2) take two WDW vacations.

We still have a few questions to work out with Disney, but from what I understand, Disney’s reservation procedures probably won’t accommodate a trip you’ve already planned, especially if it’s coming up soon. The reason is, the questionnaire states that Disney requires a minimum of 90 days to make the necessary arrangements for your vacation. I don’t know if this applies to you, but the FAQs also say that dining plans are not available for purchase with prize vacation packages. The FAQs also explains that Disney will book your airline transportation and confirm with you.

I know it’d be a pain if you have to cancel one vacation for another – even if the Flipside vacation is going to be amazing. What a problem to have!

The Disney Alliances facebook page recently listed a one-entry sweep. Just scroll through the posts to find it.

I still say go with 2 vacations!!! :woohoo:

Of course my DH being the killjoy said "Well don't forget the Flipside vacation isn't FREE because of the taxes so one has to take that into account if they are going to take 2 vacations can they afford to do that is more the question." Such a killjoy.:sad2:

Thanks Serial for sharing from your perspective as a winner and the information you have from your emails and such.
So it sounds like they need like 3 months to set everything up so that means they aren't letting anyone vacation much before May. Hmmm that works for me. Actually works very well for me. So come on Betty, don't make me wait much longer. :rolleyes1
pixiedust::rolleyes2

AquaDame, I wouldn't cancel. I would take two vacations. The won trip probably gives you a little less than a whole year to take it, so you have lots of time to plan and prepare. Just my 2 cents. :)

Well I just got back from coffee with everyone and my parents are struggling with the concept that they're being invited! :confused3 I keep saying they're invited but they keep saying what fun for us so I had to spell it out for them. I went over all the options we have as well, and I came back to find the answer I was looking for it seems from Serial below:

90 days means May is certainly out the window which is sad but I am glad I have my answer! We don't do the dining plan so thankfully thats not an issue for us - I'll reply to your PM shortly thank you! :cheer2:

I think I would get along splendidly with your husband! :rotfl2:We can afford it - but there is a guilty part of me that doesn't *want* to. If we maxed out at the suggested cost then its going to be somewhere between $1750 & $2300 or so in taxes come next year.... we'll surely go at a lower time of year than that but still. We'll still need to get a second room for my parents for three nights as well. In truth, if it were up to me I'd cancel May but my Dad immediately said go twice (if you knew him you'd be :earseek:). But then, this sort of thing does NOT happen every day! We had enough of a refund this year that I think we won't owe next tax season, or at least not much. We plugged it in with this years numbers and everything was OK. I'm just going to have to triple check at work that they are OK with me taking a couple of days unpaid since I had already scheduled my vacation time, but I think I am in for TWO trips this year. :scared1:

Wahoooo! I like your Dad!!!! And you are right it doesn't happen every day. Especially being picked on your birthday entry.
And when you do go for this trip, WEAR THE BIRTHDAY PIN!!! Who cares it's not your birthday, it was a gift given to you "on" your birthday. You'll have a story to tell if anyone asks you when your birthday is.
Give up the guilt and celebrate. There is so much to do at WDW you will not regret it. An adult vacation with your parents that you can do things together or split up and meet later and to do that twice. Really in the end you will thank me for suggesting it. It will be the best extra time with them that you can spend. And while you are there in May, you can scope out things you like and don't like.

Consider doing your second vacation in the Fall. Or if you want to see about January, and go for your 2016 birthday, then you could by pass the tax issue for another year. Plus that probably means you have more vacation time. I love that you can do what you can in May and then plan to go back and do what you missed on round 2.

Do life as you would do it, and then make the win a real win!!!
Ok I'm all excited for you. LOL Keep us posted.
:grouphug:

AquaDame, I'm so glad you all were able to make the decision so quickly! You have until January 31, 2016 to take the vacation, so I hope that gives you a lot of room to plan. And like RejoyceoverDisney suggests, you'd probably defer the taxes on the prize for another year if you take the trip in 2016. Disney did mention February 16-23, April 12-26, November 27-30, December 17-31, and January 1-3 as being blacked out. Although, for practical purposes, since it takes 90 days to set up, you don't need to concern yourself with the February and April blackout dates.
