Fran got them for me as a present and then put them in "a box". I put it in quotes because every so often she gets frustrated by the mess on her desk, says, "I need a box" and proceeds to dump everything into it. Along with the earrings we must have found 30 Disney pins and various other lost treasures.

I should post pictures!

Lots of couch treasures.

Calm down and relax a little before you meet up.

So I have a date tonight that I'm super excited about :yay: He's picking me up in about half an hour :teeth:

I'm pretty sure that you should also be excited DURING the date.....

(Sorry, couldn't resist :lmao:).

Have a great time!! And I think we wanna hear all about it.

You might get more money if you post them on eBay!

No green light for Firefly. Guess she must be getting ready for her date.

Just wachted a great upset in college football. Now watching what shouldn't be close, but have family at the game for the weaker team, so not sure what I should hope for.

Not that I know the college teams; but which two teams played?

And with the family....are they supporting the weaker team? If so, go for the other side :teeth:

ps. I've learnt to hit the preview post button first!

I was posting it on the Scrollie & Bacon Thread, and Brandi went to a Bacon and Beer festival today, so I wanted to see food porn from that.

I had two browsers open and was going to post the same thing on both and got confused as to which one was which! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Breakfast...

Pancakes with Strawberries and custard :goodvibes

That looks yummy queenie! Are strawberries just coming into season there? They have just gone out of season here. :sad1:

One of the problems I had on my trip to NZ, was that everything was not quite what I expected. We call those Crepes in the states! I remember ordering something in a diner that I thought would be pancakes and it was crepes, so odd for me. It was still good, but I kept finding myself gearing my mouth up for one taste and another would show up on my plate! :confused3

The only thing we found that was true to our palates was New Zealand Rack of Lamb and Fish & Chips.

We have two berry seasons. Victoria and Queensland. In the beginning of the year the Victorian Strawberries are out. At the moment it's Queensland Strawberries. Of course we have a climate where they really can be grown close to year round.
Victorian strawberries are better. They are generally smaller with more flavour. Queensland strawberries grow bigger which in theory looks better but I feel they lack the flavour found in Victorian ones.

As for crepes vs pancakes. These are in fact a pancake mix. I like my pancakes thinner which I suppose makes them crepes. But they are pancakes still to me.

My friend makes savory crepes as she used to work at a fast food place that makes them and they are seriously thin and crisp up more. She also only uses flour and water. So it all depends how you define a crepe vs pancake.

You may not like them nor call them typical...lol... but I would say if that Denny's pancakes are typical American style pancakes....I don't especially like them. Too thick and soggy.

I would call Denny's the "typical American Pancakes" but there are better! :lmao: American pancakes are much thicker than the crepes. And not that I don't like the crepes. In fact with some berries like you pictured them they are wonderful.

I was just speaking on the "expectation" what we call in America is different than what you folks down under call things. So when I do into a restaurant and order something that in American I expect to be one thing, it is totally different down under. That's all no problem with your breakfast, or Australian pancakes they looked wonderful.

Looks YUMMY! Lovely.......crepes.....pancakes! :rotfl:

So thin? My pancakes are more like the American style or Pancake Parlour type irrespective of what batter mix I use.

I learnt how to make crepes and pancakes from a French lady we met in Scotland. She invited us to go stay with her when we got into France. She put us up for 3 nights and cooked.....DIVINE! I don't know if what she showed me was a typical recipe or not but even with her crepe mix, she used an egg in hers. The major difference that I saw between the pancake and the crepe mix was that she let her crepe mix sit for at least 2 hours in the fridge before using. According to her, it gets all the air out and you can get a really thin batter that way, without air bubbles.

And Alison - yes, expectations based on language differences are really funny. I went into a chemist/pharmacy once and asked for tissues. I was expecting Kleenex. I got toilet paper!! :confused3

We're all home! :yay:

I'm in a food coma. Just unpacking pictures from the Taste of Melbourne.

Alison - Glenn says that in theory, you should receive the USB stick on Tuesday. Hopefully Take 2 gets to you.
