I would call Denny's the "typical American Pancakes" but there are better! :lmao: American pancakes are much thicker than the crepes. And not that I don't like the crepes. In fact with some berries like you pictured them they are wonderful.

I was just speaking on the "expectation" what we call in America is different than what you folks down under call things. So when I do into a restaurant and order something that in American I expect to be one thing, it is totally different down under. That's all no problem with your breakfast, or Australian pancakes they looked wonderful.
Please don't think I was trying to be abrupt...just trying to explain I guess :rotfl:

Trust me I understand expectations :rotfl2:
The whole Napkin situation can be rather interesting :rolleyes1

In terms of flavour I think these would be similar...just in terms of texture maybe different? They are always much drier the way I make them and less fluffy.
Buttermilk makes them thicker usually...which is certainly a common thing found in the US.

Looks YUMMY! Lovely.......crepes.....pancakes! :rotfl:

So thin? My pancakes are more like the American style or Pancake Parlour type irrespective of what batter mix I use.

I learnt how to make crepes and pancakes from a French lady we met in Scotland. She invited us to go stay with her when we got into France. She put us up for 3 nights and cooked.....DIVINE! I don't know if what she showed me was a typical recipe or not but even with her crepe mix, she used an egg in hers. The major difference that I saw between the pancake and the crepe mix was that she let her crepe mix sit for at least 2 hours in the fridge before using. According to her, it gets all the air out and you can get a really thin batter that way, without air bubbles.

And Alison - yes, expectations based on language differences are really funny. I went into a chemist/pharmacy once and asked for tissues. I was expecting Kleenex. I got toilet paper!! :confused3
Wow....that's cool getting a lesson :thumbsup2

So glad you're all home and reunited  :flower3:

We just call "ladies products" pads...

But you call them Sanitary Napkins...

So if one asks for a napkin at a restaurant rather than a serviette Americans can get rather perplexed or confused
