That turkey looks fabulous! And I agree about pie :) Pumpkin would be awesome, and I think you could probably also have an apple. If I were there, I'd so bake them for you.

That's an awesome idea about pumpkin pie!!

Home at last. DS is at his party. Having Costco wonton noodles for lunch. After lunch, vacuuming and mopping!

No rest for the wicked.

Just been hearing about the Reno accident all morning. :sad1:

I've never had a Thanksgiving Dinner...

I do love Turkey and cranberry sauce though. I've had that. Never Pumpkin pie though. Is that the one you put marshmallows on top of??

The closest we come to this kind of dinner is roast chicken and ham with mashed potato and various roast vegetables, potato salad or coleslaw

Welcome to summer Christmas :lmao:

Maybe it's sweet potato??? I've seen in a movie someone making a pie and putting little mashmallows as a topping...which then melts in the oven

Possibly... I googled it and it looks like it might be sweet potato pie with a marshmallow meringue.

Ah...Thank you :goodvibes:

I see all these very American treats through holiday movies :lmao: but they never explain what they are making...it's assumed knowledge :rotfl:

Yeah, I like the idea of Pie!

The turkey came out wonderful!

Queenie! I can't believe you haven't had a Thanksgiving Dinner! I keep forgetting that outside the US traditions are very different. I do have to say in most cases, my Thanksgiving Dinners are usually very untraditional. About 20 something years ago we had an all Asian Thanksgiving Dinner. That was before Fran, she NEVER would have gone for that! But I figured, Hey it's a feast, I don't care if it is Turkey! When both her parents were alive we did a Turkey and a Ham because her mother didn't like turkey. One year I think we did Prime Rib. Who knows what we will do this year.

One year we had Tako Yaki at Thanksgiving. That was the year that her father broke his pelvis and was in a SNF so we were able to change up Thanksgiving. At the last minute we invited over a bunch of friends. We made it sort of Potluck and as part of their contribution Bill & Yasu brought Tako Yaki (a Japanese street food with Octopus cookied into some kind of dumpling). It was good and interesting as an appetizer!

Alison - maybe you'll be really untraditional and have a traditional turkey dinner instead. :lmao: Didn't you say you had 3 birds in the hand...I mean....freezer?

Finally finished hanging the last load of laundry and cleaning the house.

Making a banana cake at the moment.

Glad the Turkey came out well. All looks lovely but for Celery. I am gradually tolerating Mushrooms courtesy of force feeding by DBF but I will NOT eat Celery. But I do know it is a standard in stuffing...

I love Roast meals and I kinda wish we had something like this. But it just doesn't happen. Some places will do something like it for Christmas in July.....but I've never seen pumpkin pie on the menu...
Our roast meal traditions are English rather than American.

It's funny how you'll change up traditions. It was funny one Christmas in the US we ended up having Chinese....with the rest of the Jewish population in the area :lmao:

I'll be spending Christmas in Southern Pennsylvania so it might be a white one but even with that I don't forsee a 'Christmas Dinner'

ARGH.....welcome to summer :( A big blowfly just arrived through the door

Well home at last.It was a great day, got some good pics I will post tomorrow, I am so tired. The bus was an adventure. So good night all.

I hope you get some good eats on your trip Queenie!

it's funny how use Americans take some of these treats for granted!

I'm getting tired, but maybe tomorrow I could post some pics if I'm up to it. we have our cleaning lady coming so I have to work with her, I may be to tired!

Looking forward to photos after you have a good sleep

:lmao: I must say I take a large range of easily available fresh fruit (although getting way more expensive) and excellent french style patisseries for granted living in Oz.....

We might find good eats but I suspect they'll be expensive so we may be doing more supermarket and take away than I'd like...
We'll be in various apartments in Vail and Brekenridge for 3 weeks
