It's always an adventure! Join us for our fall break celebration!! Updated 12-9

We are back! I am going to get this moved to the trip report board soon. I haven't gotten all of my pictures uploaded yet. DH and I each took today off from work so we could rest. That was the BEST idea! We needed today to get back to the real world. We had a wonderful time! A few ups and downs but overall a great experience. The more times we go to Disney the more we find to love about it.

Part 1: The Trip Begins
Wednesday 10-22

Today I had to work a half day.:teacher: The night before I had parent/teacher conferences so I was pretty beat. I got everything ready for my sub on Monday. My class was really excited about their fall break (so was I).:yay: School ended at 11:15 and I was able to leave soon after. I went home and DH (who taken a vacation day) had been taking care of last minute tasks. We finished packing and organizing our suitcases. I ended up puting a bag inside of my small suitcase because I had a feeling we would need it for our Disney purchases (that ended up being a great idea). We were taking two carry on bags and one checked bag. My MIL had brought over a bag with snacks and a gift card for us to buy our mugs. That was really nice of her. We packed up the car and we were off. I kept having a nagging feeling that we were forgetting something (remember this) . DH said even if we forget something we can always buy it there. That made sense so I tried to push the thoughts out of my mind.

A quick stop at the gas station and we were on the road. We were listening to the DIS Unplugged Podcasts. We love those! We were really starting to feel like we were on vacation. DH starts telling me how the sales lady at the Disney store was telling him how awesome MNSSHP was. We began talking about how fun it would be to see Hallowishes and the parade. Around this time that nagging feeling came back. I pulled out my travel envelope. No MNSSHP tickest!:scared1: At this point we were 30 minutes from home. DH pulled into a parking lot and we called Disney. I was thinking no problem. They have records of our purchase they could print out new tickets for us. They said if we had our receipt they could get us new tickets (the receipt was attatched to the tickets  ). So, we turned around to go get the tickets. This stressed us out. First that it added an hour to our trip. Then we were worried about running into traffic in Indy and being late for our plane. It ended up being fine but it was stressful for a while.

We met DBIL and DSIL (FairyGodMotherJen) at the airport. They had their youngest child our 6 month old nephew with them. He is so cute! They were nice enough to come see us off and get our car to take back to their house so we wouldn't have to worry about parking (plus they would pick us up on Sunday). Thanks Jen! We walked in the airport with them and talked for a little bit. We made it to security and we said goodbye.

Our plane was on time. We had a layover in Washington D.C.. The plane to Orlando was full. Now that they have the $15 bag fee I noticed that almost everyone had a carry on suitcase. There were so many that they couldn't all fit in the overhead bins. They asked people who had smaller bags like backpacks to put them under the seats. They still didn't have enough space so they had to put some things under the plane anyway. This happened on every flight. I wish that airlines would drop the baggage fees. They showed NBC television shows on our flight. I watched a little of The Office (DH and I love that show) and listened to more of the DIS Unplugged. We arrived at the Orlando airport around 12:15.

We navigated through the construction area (they are remodeling in the terminal) and got on the airport monorail. ME was a welcome sight after a long day. I really missed not doing direct flights on this trip. Our Magical Express check in was quick and easy. We were directed to another cast memeber who checked our information pointed to a bus and said "go there" I whispered to DH "I feel the love" We got on the only bus waiting and watied about 20 minutes. It was around 1:15by that time. There were 7 people on the bus including us and it was all adults. It was a very quiet ride. No movie, but I could hear the audio playing. I wanted to take a picture of the Welcome sign but it was too dark. We made a stop at Saratoga Springs and then it was off to Riverside. We walked inside and it was like coming home. I can't discribe it but Riverside has a certain smell. I mean that in a good way.:cloud9: It smells the same everytime we walk into the lobby. We made our way to the check in. There was one person in front of us so we sat on the couches until she was done. The Riverside check in area is themed like a river boat company. It is really cool. I picked up a few brochures for my scrapbook and then it was our turn. She checked us in quickly. We got our keys to the world and our big packet of information. I wasn't sure if they would be taking us in a golf cart to our room since it was so late or if we would be walking. On our honeymoon they drove us to our room. She pointed out our building on the map, we were in Magnolia Terrace. The other times we have stayed in Acadian House. I was just glad to be in the mansion area since that is our favorite. She drew a line on the map how to get to our room (no golf cart tonight). I asked about our bag from ME and she said it usually takes about 3 hours so we could call in the morning to have it delivered. We walked outside and just took everything in. First of all we noticed how nice it felt outside. It was was warm, but not hot. Perfect! The lights were shining on the Sassagalula River. The buildings looked beautiful and everything just looked so wonderful. There was no one else around (of course it was like 2:30 in the morning!). It was peaceful and pretty:cloud9: and we took our time walking to our room. It came in handy that we have stayed here before because we had an idea of where were going. We took a lot of pictures on our walk. Our room was on the backside of Magnolia Terrace. It faced a parking area. At first the room didn't seem as nice as the others we have stayed in. The next day, after we returned to the room, we realized that it was fine. I think it had just been a really long day. We didn't get to sleep until after 3:00. Tomorrow was our Disney Hollywood Studios day.

I know you TOLD me how late it was, but it didn't really sink in until now!!! You guys were troopers! I think I would have been walking quickly to the room and heading straight to bed, excited or not (I'm such an old lady!!!) Can't wait to hear more and see some of those...um, many ;) pictures you took!
:goodvibes

great start, so did you have to pay for an extra night since you got there at 3 in the morning or how did that work out.

I think since this was such a short trip I wanted to soak up every minute that I could.:cloud9:

Welcome!:) We did have to pay for the room. Although, since we were on the dining plan we got the food credits from that day to use on the other days.

Great start! What a late night.....errrr morning? ;)

I can't wait to hear more!

I was tired on the plane and at the airport. As soon as I sat on the ME bus I had instant energy!

:lmao:
Ok, I laughed out loud at the ticker!!! Is that how long it is until early June???

Great pictures. Can't wait to keep reading!!!

Part 2 Hollywood Studios
Thursday 10-23-08

After a very late night/early morning we heard a knock at the door at 5:30 a.m. It was our bag from ME. I was so glad that they delivered it and I didn’t have to call anyone to find it. We were able to be out the door by 9:30. I like to get to parks at opening but, we weren’t moving too fast! We had Poptarts for breakfast in the room. Here is where we encountered some major crowds. No not at DHS, at the POR bus stop. We went to the food court to buy and fill our mugs. Since the main stop was the closest we went there. The shelter for DHS was full. We waited through like 4 buses and no DHS. It was then we realized that we weren’t going to get on at this stop so we hiked it over to a stop that had less people. We waited a few minutes and were able to get on a DHS bus quickly.

We made it to DHS and got through bag check quickly. Sorry for the picture size difference.

We headed toward Star Tours. DH loves Star Wars however; we aren’t big fans of the ride. He loves to check out that area in all of its Star Wars glory. We took some pictures and went into the store. He found 3 pins that he really liked. We went ahead and bought them so we wouldn’t have to try to find them later.

Muppets 3D needs some help from Disney. The show is cute and we go (and laugh) every time we come, but it could use some updates. I think there should be more Muppet themed attractions. I would love a Muppets character dinner. Plus it would bring the Muppets to a whole new generation. On a side note, I have a Muppet CD that I play sometimes in my classroom. My class this year loves this CD and they will often request it “Can you play the Muffins”? :rotfl: I asked them if they had heard of Kermit or Miss Piggy and they looked at me like I had three heads. Yet, they love the songs. We went into the gift shop. I love the décor in there. I looked for a Miss Piggy pin but I didn’t see one.

100_0735.jpg

I love the wording on that sign "Paid for by the fund to keep Miss Piggy happy".

We went down the Streets of America.

I noticed right away that the lights were already being hung for the Osborne Family lights. Even in the middle of the day without seeing them lit, it is amazing how many lights are on those buildings. They had the buildings roped off so we couldn’t go on the steps to take pictures.

We walked over to Luigi’s Garage. Mater and Lightning were out for pictures. We didn’t wait in the line but we did snap some photos. Cars is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies. The garage area is cute.
100_0733.jpg

Up next: snack time, we become animators and a mistaken dream.

I just love the feel of DHS! I wish we had explored the area of Muppets more, I have in the past but we had to make it to our ADR so we were in a hurry after the show.

very nice, do yo u have any more pictures of the cars area, i would love to see them

DHS was a lot of fun! The fountain in front of Muppets 3D is so cute.

thank you for teh additional pics, i think that is whre they had the buzz and woody set up in front of als toy barn last year?

We walked back towards Toy Story Mania. Since we arrived so late I didn’t expect to get on. The stand by line was huge and the Fast Passes were already at 5:00. This would have to wait for another time. I love the monkeys that go across the street.

I think I had a toy like this when I was little.

We saw two Streetmosphere performers setting up for a skit. They were really funny. That is another thing I love about DHS. The Streetmosphere performers are excellent.

DSC00591.jpg

We continued on, stopping to take pictures and just taking time to enjoy the experience. The weather was so nice! It was kind of cloudy but the temps were in the 70’s. I have never been to Disney when I wasn’t hot. It was great! We decided that a snack would be good. I have a hard time finding CS at DHS. We ended up at Anaheim Produce, which had more seating behind it than I was aware of.
DSC00593.jpg

We went with two pretzels, cheese sauce, a Poweraid (DH) and a frozen lemonade (me).
DSC00592.jpg

The snack was basic but good. The frozen lemonade was excellent. Very refreshing. We relaxed and people watched. I believe we each called our families to tell them we made it.

After our snack we were energized and ready to head to the Animators Courtyard. DH and I were excited to do this attraction for the first time. I didn’t even know about it until I read about it on the Dis. This wouldn’t be the only time the Dis helped us on our trip. We stopped in a few stores along the way.

DSC00598.jpg

I loved seeing all of the holiday merchandise.

DSC00596.jpg

This pancake shaper was for DSIL and family.
We saw this Fantasia topiary.
DSC00599.jpg

DSC00600.jpg

I love how the buckets are filled with plants and the flowers are planted to look like water coming out of them.

I will continue in a following post.

Hey! That's our pancake maker!!! ;) We've already used it, and it works very well when I don't over-fill it. Thank you!!! :flower3:

How cool - you got to see the lights! We WILL get out there to see those one of these days! I love how you guys just walked around, took pictures and soaked it all in. We're going to do that one of these days, too.....

Looking forward to more!

I am glad it works! We have to do a Christmas trip! It was cool seeing them and they weren't even turned on. I can't imagine how cool it would be to see them lit up. The picture taking was so cool! We picked up our prints today. We had over 800! I am going to have a lot to scrapbook!

After our snack we were energized and ready to head to the Animators Courtyard.

We walked passed Playhouse Disney.
DSC00603.jpg

We saw the sea of strollers.

DH and I were excited to do this attraction for the first time. I didn’t even know about it until I read about it on the Dis. This wouldn’t be the only time the Dis helped us on our trip. We ended up in a standby line. The animator was really cool. He did a great job breaking down all of the steps. He had us draw Donald Duck since he hadn’t drawn him yet that day. I will post pictures of our versions of Donald later in my TR. At the end we could win the animator’s drawing if we could answer a trivia question. Here is the thing, I am kicking myself because I knew the answer to the first question and nobody else knew it (DH was too far away for me to tell him). I was too shy to yell the answer across the room:sad2: . What was the question? What is Donald Ducks middle name? Answer: Fauntleroy (thanks to Dan: FauntleroyFan07, that is the only way that I knew it!). I didn’t know the answer to the next question and someone else won the picture. He said in the next show he was going to draw Tigger. I wanted to get back in line but by the time we got out there the line was really long.
DSC00609.jpg

We each decided to try out the computers that tell you which character you are. Here is mine (sorry there is a glare). How fitting is that considering my screen name?

This was DH:

We explored the building a little more.

They have a lot of cool things on display. Including Disney’s Oscars, A glass office with an animator working. I bet that would feel like you were working in a fish bowl.
DSC00625.jpg

We saw items from the next Disney movie Bolt. It looks really cute. Then we walked out through the gift shop where we saw a lot of (expensive) items that we loved.
100_0751.jpg

100_0752.jpg

We walked around a little more outside. We checked out the pins under the hat. We found a photobooth and we decided to get our picture taken. This was a lot of fun. It ended up being one of my favorite keepsakes from the trip. I will have to scan it in.

From there we decided that we needed to get back to POR to get some lunch and rest up before MNSSHP. As we were walking out a man with a clipboard approached us and asked us if we would like to do a survey. I knew he wasn't a dream team member. But, inside I was hoping that we would get something for taking the time to do the survey:cloud9: . We didn't, but that was O.K.. We gave our thoughts on the food choices at DHS. Hopefully, Disney is going to be adding some other choices.

Next up:POR, Kona Café, MNSSHP

ahhhhhhh mmaannnnnnnnn,,,,,i would have yelled it at the top of my lungs, but still happy that i could help yo uknow what hte answer was.

Great update! I wish DHS would get more food options, I always feel like you can't find where the CS are as well.
