It's almost time - Packing Help!

Laundry is actually pretty easy to do on the ship. Requires 3 trips to the laundry room, and one can pay for soap and the machines with K2tW Card. Doing laundry once means one can bring 40% fewer clothes. For 7 days, I could go: 1 hoodie, 2 shorts, 3 casual shirts, 4 underwear, 1 nice pants/shirt/belt for dress-up. 1 casual/dress shoes, 1 sandals.
How much do you have to pay to use the washing machines/dryers?

.
I think it's approx. $2 or $3 . . . same price for soap, washer and quite-a-bit-of-time on the dryer.
Like most things on DCL, not cheap but a reasonable value given everything works, someone comes if there's a problem, and there is usually enough capacity to do wash expeditiously.
.
We bring hangers and laundry bags, and put up a note so someone that needs a dryer can put my dried stuff in our bag if they're getting impatient. It usually works out pretty nicely.

We usually have early seating for dinner and, because they expect a lot of hot people, food, and kids in two shifts, it is cool when you first enter the MDR. It is always easier to take a sweater, light jacket, etc. off when there than to go back to the room. At night, outside on deck, it can also get cool or cold, depending on your destination. We always take two bottles of wine each on our cruises (always 7+ days) enclosed in bubble-wrap in our carry-ons. One of the bottles, a unique blend from here, in Oregon, we took to Remy's and the wine steward had never seen anything like it. We let him sample it and keep the last 1/3 of the bottle (still paid a corkage fee...rats!). He actually contacted the winery later, we learned. Don't know if there will be any wines from our state on DCL in the future. We will keep cruising until they do, so there!!
Which wine is it? My mom lives in Eugene, OR and always has the wine in the box when I go to visit...which I find absolutley undrinkable. I'd love to get a good recommendation on some wine to pick up the next time I go.

The wine is from the Abacela Winery in Roseburg...Tempranillo-Malbec, don't remember the year. We belong to their wine club because we like their products so much. Willamette Valley Winery, outside of Salem, also has some very drinkable wine. So many Oregon wineries, so little time!!

Thank you so much! Can't wait to try it.

We're just about 2 weeks out from our first cruise!! I am just getting started on our packing. We're flying so I don't want to overpack, but don't want to miss out on the essentials either.

We're looking at high 80s during the trip. Does it cool off or get breezy enough at night that we would need sweatshirts or anything like that? Also, what about temps in kid's clubs. T-shirts/shorts ok? I've heard the dining rooms might be chilly so, I will be packing light sweaters for myself and the kids.

Travel cups & carrier - Is this an essential for you? I don't want to be making tons of trips to drink station but can't decide if this is more hassle than it's worth. (We're on deck 6)

Would this be considered acceptable for carry-on wine? It's equal to a 750ml bottle so, I'm thinking yes.

Let me know how it goes. They come package is a stack like that don't they with one stack the equivalent to one bottle? That would be perfect for me as I am the only wine drinker in the family and I want to enjoy it one at a time without the hassle of a big bottle. I just can't see Disney making a big deal about bringing 8 stacked little bottles instead of 2 big bottles. Common sense should rule here.

I would bring a sweatshirt to be safe. It can be cold on deck in the evenings depending on your speed! Dining rooms and on board are usually chilly for me so I definitely recommend the light sweaters.

We've never brought glasses or cups - we just use the drink stations - it's not a pain!

You don't need to pack as much as you'll want to: shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, and a few nicer outfits for the evenings. Don't overpack. Do bring a pair of jeans though, to be safe.

The issue with this is that it isn't Disney making the big deal, but it's the employees at the port who are following the directions provided by Disney that states two 750 ml bottles of wine are allowed per person - not the equivalent in small bottles or the equivalent of 2 bottles together in a box. You might make it through with these "equivalents", but you have an equal chance of being told they're not allowed and having to trash it at the port. I'd bring 750 ml wine bottle only!

I agree about the sweaters. You never know when you will catch a chill.

My partner thought I was nuts for bringing a cup carrier and special cups...then he used both all day every day for 15 straight days!! At one point, he lost his cup and was so sad. But someone found it and turned it in to lost and found. Since it had his name on it, he was able to get it back easily. We are not "pool people" and we were on deck 2, so it was sort of a PITA to go up for refills of iced tea.

Don't forget clothespins. You can do laundry on board.

Hint: Lay out all the clothes you think you need. Pack the socks, undies and 2 swimsuits per person. Now put back 1/2 the clothes you have left and pack the rest.

Like PP said, I would wear the sweater / hoodie on board the airplane instead of packing them.

Have fun.
That is the exact advice I give people. I would also bring more tops than bottoms. I don't wear shorts anymore and basically live in NYDJ crop pants from april through october and I can get two wears of them before they need to be cleaned . I don't bring formal or semi formal wear because I am not comfortable wearing that stuff,.

I've taken on 6 oz wine bottles several times with no problem. DCL is not that anal about things. 750ml is 750 ml's. You would hope security guards aren't that dumb that they can't figure it out.

Good to know. I will be doing the same.

Did you end up taking these or bottles? We are flying in and taking transportation directly from the airport so will not have an opportunity to stop anywhere before boarding the ship...

We did WDW before and after our cruise. I knew we'd be doing laundry, and early on in the cruise when I knew there wouldn't be a line to use the washer/dryer. I took tide pods so I wouldn't have to buy laundry soap. The washer/dryer units are very small, so you can't make a very large load. I had a sweater and a sweatshirt (for the plane). We cruised in March during our spring break and it was unseasonably cool. The day we got off the ship we were heading to WDW and I was wearing pants, which to me is just weird...it's spring in Florida!

My son lived in shorts/t-shirts except for optional dress up night. He insists on wearing a shirt/tie/pants. :)

We took RTIC aluminum cups for soft drinks and water and I was glad we had them. I like having a drink handy.
