It's ALL About the Food (We go to WDW to eat and drink!!) ~ October 2009 TR

Elizabeth - You would have been proud of me this weekend. I went shopping!

I didn't buy 29 pairs of khaki shorts, however. :lmao:

With the weight loss of the past 3 years, and the resulting change in my appearance (and my perception of that appearance) I have been struggling to decide what warm weather clothes I enjoy wearing most and what looks best on my still-changing body. I took a long, hard look at what I normally wear and what I decided was I really don't look particularly good in the style of shorts I have chosen in the past. I like capris but sometimes it is just too hot. I have two skorts I love and I like the way they look on me right now so I decided I needed more of them.

I also found a longer pair of Dockers bermudas on clearance at Kohl's for $7.60 so that was a nice start. Then I went online and found 4 skorts I think I will like. I guess we will see when the packages from Land's End and Coldwater Creek show up in the next week or so. I carry most of my "weight" in my stomach and hips, partly due to some health issues, so trying things on is essential. Let's see if I can make these work!

If I like them all, I may be able to pack a lot in a very short time. I also told myBob that he needed to pick out the shorts and shirts he wanted to take. He won't be wearing his summer stuff at work for the next three weeks so that should be pretty easy for him if he just does it!

I know Elizabeth will be relieved to hear this. ;)

I start back to teaching tomorrow afternoon and I don't want to. It is the first time in a long time I have felt that way. I love teaching, love the kids I work with, like my job immensely. I just don't want to go back to my normal life. ;) I have had two weeks off and have thoroughly enjoyed myself. {{sigh}}

OK ... done feeling sorry for my self. This is a great pick-me-up to see:

Hey Elin-I think its perfectly normal to feel that way-when you transition from the lazy, hazy days of summer...back to "normal"-whatever that may be (and you teach...that can be mentally and emotionally exhausting...)..Today is the first day of school here...and I'm feeling a little melancholy myself...

In a couple of weeks when you're back in the "groove" it will all feel better...and then we have fall to look forward to and fall is a gorgeous time &
You always have your trip(s) to look forward too...:thumbsup2

Very true, Patricia! Thanks for the upbeat pep talk! :goodvibes

Elin, YAY for shopping!! :dance3: See? Don't you feel all happy and giddy now? Shopping is the BEST! :goodvibes

I have 5 pairs of capris that I really like. I have 30ish pairs of shorts, almost all of them the one Jones NY style, but some fit better than others. The sad thing is they don't make that style now, so when those 30 pairs are gone I will be naked. :guilty:

Jeans are the killer for me. I have 5 pairs that are tolerable, but 2 of them are very ragged. All these low-rise, bootcut, stretch things in stores suck. I HATE them! I haven't bought jeans in years because I HATE the way they fit. I have really short legs so they are all WAAAAAY too long. The petite ones are good for length but they are usually too short in the rise. Nordstrom will hem them for me, but I can't bring myself to pay $200 for a pair of jeans that I don't even like! :headache: Brutal.

I hope you love your new skorts! :wizard:

I've enjoyed reading your PTR! We'll be at the World same time as you, and we will also be playing the role of a DVC owner - just over at SSR. I see you're eating lunch at Sci-Fi on the 5th...perhaps we'll wave across Drive-In! :)

hi Elin!

I was thinking about rolling over to Kouzzina for breakfast on the 4th as that's the day I want to go to Universal for the Halloween Horror Night and was just going to wander Epcot till time to leave - but ya know, I'm at Old Key West and don't know how difficult it will be to get there as I am not a morning person. Will check out what you say about it if I don't make it there...whiiiiiiite sangriiiiiiiiiiaaaaa

:wave2: Hi, Catherine! :welcome: aboard. I would love to see you on the 4th at breakfast. How the heck did I miss that you were going to be there then too?!?!? I could try to make a later ADR and add you if you want. And there WILL be white sangria!

Are you doing any of the seminars at F&W that day or just wandering around? It is a wander around Epcot day for us too. So, one way or another we ought to find a way to get together. :yay:

While I don't count down quite as thoroughly as you do, Elin, I often find myself thinking "in this number of days we will be at such-and-such." Last night I was saying to the hubby ... "in five weeks from tonight we will be eating the dessert buffet at the MK - you start at one end and I'll start at the other and we'll meet in the middle over the sugary delights!"

You can check in three weeks in advance? Which airline is that?

Poor writing on my part, Brenda. :flower3: Three weeks from this morning I will be checking us in online.

Feel free to skip this if you wish.

We need to buy two APs. I hate that this is overlapping this year and that we both need our tickets at the same time.

I am a frugal woman and have found that if I order tickets from Under Cover Tourist through Mouse Savers' newsletter link I always save money. So I have come up with a plan that I hope will save us close to $50 overall:

I will order us 2 6-day MYW base tickets which have a $22+ savings for each ticket. Then I will upgrade these to APs after their first use, thus getting the entire original WDW price in credit. I know I can do this; that is not the question.

What I am wondering is if I can do this later in the day of our first use of the tickets? Let's say we arrive at Epcot at 12:30 p.m. or so and use our first of 6 days to enter the park. After taking a break and going back to BCV can we come back in at 7:00 or so and stop at Guest Relations then and upgrade to APs and purchase our TIW card then?? Or, do we have to wait until the following day to do the upgrade?

I need to have a TIW card for our first night's dinner so I will plan to purchase at least one AP outright if this seems impossible to do. Then we can upgrade Bob's ticket the next morning.

Does this make sense to you all?

I would think you can do it on the first day. That's what I'm going to try to do anyway, since I want that TIW for my first night's dinner as well.

Three weeks from right now Bob and I should be happily ensconced in the World Showcase eating and drinking till we groan. And then we get to meet Laura (RachelTori) and her friends for dinner at Chefs de France. Only 3 weeks! 14 teaching days. :)

I am ordering the discounted tickets tonight when I get home from my studio. I think we will have no problem upgrading. Especially when I tell them I plan to come back twice before the end of the year! And I am bringing more people with me! :rotfl: ;)

I just ordered 6 Day Hopper Passes from Under Cover Tourist at a savings of $35 plus change for each one. That will actually about pay for our TIW card when we upgrade them to APs!

Three weeks from today we get to meet Debbie and Richie (Mrs. Heg & DH) and do some of our first F&W Seminars!

five weeks from today we will be thinking of expensive birthday cake and wishing that you and yourBob were going to be there to celebrate with us and the other friendies.
